Towaga: Among Shadows is a breathtaking arcade shooter that feels like playing through a high-budget animated feature film. The art style is incredible, drawing inspiration from ancient civilizations and cosmic horror, and the framerate is silky smooth even during the most chaotic battles. Standing atop a temple and fending off shadows with a beam of light is a simple concept, but the execution here is flawless.
The gameplay is surprisingly strategic; you have to manage your light beam carefully to avoid overheating while prioritizing targets that are fast approaching. The upgrade tree is deep, allowing you to customize your powers to suit your playstyle. It’s intense, visually stunning, and has a soundtrack that perfectly matches the 'epic' feel of the journey. It is easily one of the most polished and satisfying arcade experiences available on the App Store today.
Stunning hand-drawn 2D visuals
Over 70 challenging levels
Deep character upgrade system
Epic and cinematic boss fights
Immersive tribal-electronic soundtrack
Pulse your fire rather than holding it down. This prevents your light beam from overheating and allows you to quickly pivot to deal with enemies spawning behind you.
Use the 'Wind Gust' spell to push back large groups before unleashing your 'Solar Blast'. Combining crowd control with high-damage AOE spells is the only way to survive the later waves.
Yes, Towaga: Among Shadows has full support for Bluetooth controllers for a console-like experience.
This game is amazing. The gameplay, art style, characters, and story are so well done. I’m beyond impressed. The game is essentially a twin stick shooter but done very casually. Very easy to learn and great game to mindlessly have fun zapping enemies away. The game plays in landscape mode, and it definitely feels comfortable that way. Overall I am glad I spent the $2.99 on this game. The video trailer is what convinced me to buy it. Thank you for making this a premium game and for how much gameplay is involved for just $2.99. I can already tell this game is easily going to take me more than a few hours to beat for the price. Thank you!
Love this game!! I’ve had this game when it first came out in 2021 and then it was taken down from the App Store. It seems like it just came back to the App Store in 2023 so o downloaded it again. Lately, I’ve been seeing glitches in the game. When switching robes you can see the color flicking between the base and whichever robe you have equipped. During the survival mode (flying), some of the enemies come at you so fast you can’t even react and the controls don’t always respond. I’ve compared the mobile version to the game console version and there are WAY more power ups in the console version which puzzles me. Could we get an update in the ear future please. If you need anymore insight just let me know. But the game isn’t as fun with the new changes as it was with the old.
New changes add a ton of unnecessary content. This is a twin stick arcade shooter, but the developers tried to add a story, which drags the game pacing down. There is a survival mode to unlock that is more like the original gameplay, but it is barebones. All the meat is in the story mode, which I don't care for. The actual gameplay is ok. It is still fun, but it loses a star because it's game formula follows too closely to an older long gone iOS game called ZiGGURAT. Instead of light emanating from the player's palms, in ZiGGURAT, the player shot a single fire weapon with an exploding projectile that traveled downward in an arc due to gravity. Seems like such a small difference between the too games, but if you've played ZiGGURAT, you'll understand why Towaga will never be a five-star game.
When I saw the price of this game I thought maybe l shouldn’t get itq I still downloaded it and I love it the stories very good, and I’m having much fun in the levels if you like adventure games then I think you’ll like this game
All my save data…. GONE!!!!! I wanna cry. I must have hit reset data in my sleep. Good thing this game is a keeper and the last half of it offers a nice challenge. 😋 Welp, back to 1². Even though I was on the last freakin stage and erased my data… I think the game is good enough to play all over again. I also think that counts as a pretty high recommendation.
Great game. Very nice one go game. I hope for more titles with Ross company.
