I got this game earlier today and I can say it is pretty fun. It has a very strong core foundation with nice controls and a fast pace combat. The bosses all having a second phase where the gain 1-2 new moves was a nice surprise that I was not expecting the first time playing. No real complaints about the game but I do have a few suggestion or questions since it is in early access and has a lot of potential - Will there be control settings to make the buttons bigger or remap the buttons? - an encyclopedia of all the enemies / items you come across is always nice and can help build the world with descriptions - an achievement list indicating how much you’ve unlocked, not necessarily how to do everything but just a place to show what you’ve accomplished and what’s left! ( as of writing this I’ve beaten death but not sure how to progress. Love the mystery and don’t want it spoiled with an achievements )
Okay. Second times is the charm. Dev pulled and fixed the game so it no longer crashes! Played for a good 10 minutes with zero frustrations. As to the game itself; Smooth controls. Small engagements per level. Nice slick graphics. Auto shooter with a lot of effects and enemy types to keep you moving. I like the choice system of doors/keys/traps. I especially like that it is a premium edition to the Soul Knight style of Rogue. Nothing to hold you back, except your fat fingers. But here is where it gets good. Full controller support. But not only that, the autofire becomes a Twin stick giving you far more control of your targets. Over all I’m super pleased this now works and hopefully we will see more updates and content provided by this Dev and this launch misstep was just a hiccup.
I’ve unlocked every character and beat every boss so far and I really enjoyed the game, however it still feels a bit like a work in progress. There still aren’t very many items so the runs begin to feel similar to each other after a while. However it has a lot of potential. Even after the new update giving larger boss warnings before attacks, some of the bosses still feel a bit unfair. Specifically the boss that appears on the side of the screen and sends shack waves similar to the siren from EtG.
I find myself getting a little bored. It’s definitely a fun game but there isn’t much structure. I think there’s too much rng. If there was a easier way to build the character to where it actually got stronger everytime you die it would be a lot better. Yeah when you die you get souls, but the upgrades you can get with them lacks big time. Definitely 5 star potential. Also some of the characters are pointless. Please rework the summoner and knight lol.
Five stars for effort, but seriously the game isn’t bad at all. I’ve played as many binding of Isaac type games as possible and rougelikes in general. This has potential no doubt! Make us proud as the consumer and make your friends and family proud. By adding more content good developer, It was a pleasure buying this game.
Awesome game, been playing it since day one. Love endless mode. All my characters are maxed out with all the challenges. I have unlocked everything. I managed to get to level 32-10 in endless mode, apparently the damage maxed out at 9.2 quintillions. That’s 18 zeros.
The game actually waited until I beat the second version of the final boss before asking for a review! It is so rare to have games wait until you actually know what is in store. If you like Binding of Isaac, you should like this.
