This game is a lot of fun. I love how challenging it can be. Its so easy to start playing and not realize 2 hours went by. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star rating is cloud saves. Being able to set my iPad down and pick up on my iPhone while on the go would be great. Nonetheless, excellent job and keep up the great work.
I can't recommend with the current build for this game. I want to enjoy it but the on screen controls leave a lot to be desired. Seems like the actual box for selecting things is off. So I gave it a try using my backbone. I've run into an issue 3 times where I'm unable to dash and have a sound as though I'm out of stamina, however, I'm just sitting still. This occured during the first locked "timed" door tutorial. I was unable to progress due to the dash function just not working. I've also found that there were several instances where a button press like attack or block, or when dash worked, caused the game to freeze for a moment before resuming. Metroidvania style games should have really tight controls and even with a controller, it feels unresponsive/lagged behind. Other bugs that are preventing a recommendation include bosses getting stuck in an attack animation making it a simple slash until they die situation. Happened on a spider boss and one with a scythe. The campfire also seems to be broken. There's two options below the save and try as I might, I'm unable to move down to click them. When using the touchscreen, my character moves instead of moving the selection. When using a controller, it is merely unresponsive. The art and animations are nice, it seems like it would be a good game if it were playable. Devs also appear to be active in the community and responsive to issues, so I can give them bonus points for that!
I did not expect to experience the level of enemy diversity, movement tech, weapon diversity, secrets and more that is present here. There is so much lore and it makes you want to discover more. The key to this game is exploration. There are no quest markers, no objectives, or waypoints. Just campfires to rest, enemies to kill, and things to discover. The combat can be frustrating at first but if you learn enemy attack patterns and frequency you can kill most enemies without taking a hit. Definitely one of the best platformers Ive played and the art design is beautiful despite it being 8 bit (which is not a detriment). I do very much enjoy the games styling and the differences between each area you discover. Controller support is (nearly) flawless and works well on Mac. Definitely get this game if you want to get lost in a new world.
Just wanna say this is just a great little metroidvania title. Not too long. Not too short. Great exploration, weapons, upgrade system. Just perfect. I did run into occasional bugs but the frequent save spots made it not a big issue. Definitely recommend using a controller. Played and beat it over a weekend. Perfect! Only little nitpick is it took a while to figure out how to equip armor and rings as the ability to scroll right in the equip screen wasn’t super obvious. But that may just be me.
I love this game. I was about 75% through completion when my character suddenly started spawning underneath a level. I emailed the creators and within a short time, they created a patch and a new update. They even sent me emails to ensure the problem was fixed. Thanks for being so responsive and supportive.
Very balanced across all points of quality. Its environment and enemies are challenging and eventful, but your character plays fast and diversely, which provides a comfortable sense of counter. The story and world-building is rich in lore and culture, and flows well throughout the game, but is not done in a way that’s too overbearing. The controls, progression, and customization all feel unique in their selection, while maintaining simplicity that supports an ease of re-entry. Just overall, a really well composed game for what it is, enough to where I can’t seem to stop replaying, despite its moderate length of playtime.
I love this game but it’s currently unplayable. The d pad moves on the screen when you use it, eventually working its way into the upper left hand of the screen leaving you unable to use the up button.
I just started playing Elderand, but I have to say I am immediately impressed. Elderand is fun right out of the gate. The gameplay is fast, fun, and not overly complex. The graphics are retro but still gorgeous, and the music is really cool. It’s a modern classic fantasy side scroller. Looking forward to digging into this one.
