Several bugs fixed.
Twinworld Survivor is a high-octane and visually striking addition to the 'Survivor-lite' subgenre. It sets itself apart with a unique 'Dual Dimension' mechanic—you are essentially fighting on two planes of existence simultaneously. This adds a fantastic layer of tactical depth; managing your position in the physical world while tracking your projectiles in the 'mirror' world requires a level of focus that standard survivors lack.
The pixel art is detailed and atmospheric, creating a palpable sense of dread. As an expert in action roguelikes, I found the ability-synergy system to be particularly well-tuned. Finding a combination that 'breaks' the game and allows you to clear a thousand enemies in seconds is as rewarding as ever. It is a challenging, fast-paced, and highly addictive title that feels like a genuine step forward for the genre. It's a dark, beautiful, and chaotic power trip.
Unique Dual-Dimension Gameplay
Infinite Ability Combinations
Stunning Atmospheric Pixel Art
Epic Multi-Phase Boss Fights
Use your 'Shift' ability when you are about to be cornered. This moves your character to the mirror dimension where enemies might be less dense. Remember: your projectiles stay in the dimension they were fired in, allowing you to set up 'Cross-Rift' traps for incoming bosses.
Prioritize the 'Chain Lightning' and 'Void Vortex' combo. The lightning bounces between enemies, while the vortex pulls them into a central point, maximizing the lightning's jump potential and clearing whole screens of minions instantly.
A full run typically lasts between 15 and 20 minutes, ending in a final boss encounter.
To point out immediately, the game has no additional transactions or P2W mechanics. It’s all done in parody and you will eventually unlock features (via “cracking” as they call it in game) such as premium battle passes, ad skips (there are no ads to watch and the game simply locks the option to do so) and everything else that would normally require premium currency will be available to you. The game has an energy system where you regenerate 1 every two minutes and a stage (costs 5 energy) will take about 7-9 minutes on average. In practice the energy limitation is a non-issue when with you eventually unlock “ad-free” features. For a priced game, it feels very unpolished, unoptimized and has quite a few bugs. There isn’t much production value in music or sound direction, I’ve had more than one issue with invisible walls, random crashes and slow load times in the main menu. The game requires a constant, stable connection; unlike other games of this genre you will lock up and be unable to control your character or play the game if connection is interrupted or lost. They do have a discord and it seems they are actively working to fix some of the more prominent bugs (save data being lost was recently addressed), but the game in its current state is not worth picking up over other games in this genre.
Love the pixel anime feel of this game. Fun to play until the last level, then there’s not as much to do… very buggy. There are blue and green chests that show up in levels surrounded by destructible terrain. But when you think you are touching them, most of the time nothing happens, as they are actually in another location but invisible. Very hard to pickup what you can’t see.
The game doesn’t work on iPhone from both my times trying to buy and play it. The last update was a year ago and it seem the devs just abandoned the iPhone version I refunded it and I decided to write this review to save others from the same inconvenience and annoyance
Would love to play the game since I bought it but doesn’t go past loading screen. Uninstalled then downloaded again so please fix the game would love to play it for the 4.99 I bought it for
Purchased the game but it will not progress past the loading screen. Tried reinstalling, press start and it times out.
I got some cool weapons from beating a level then next level my character runs off screen uncontrollably. After restarting my game is back at the 1st level and all my stuff is gone.
It is unplayable. It opens, you press start game, you get two loading wheels before going back to the start screen.
