What’s New
Improved overall performance for smoother gameplay
Optimized the game for better stability and responsiveness
Adjusted screen resolutions to better support different displays
Updated compatibility to support the latest devices, including new iPhone models (e.g. iPhone 17)
This dlc is more heart wrenching than the original and has an unpredictable ending. It’s linear and the choices are limited. The focus is not solely based on guarding your shelter and upgrading. It’s a unique change of pace and objective. It lacks high replay value (ending is the same) and has minimal characters (mainly the main character in the shelter). I enjoyed the adventure of searching clues, exploring new areas and the different dialogue however the not many locations are available until you learn a new clue.
The gameplay is fantastic and the visuals, although not as good as PC, are still pretty good. It’s difficult and seeing your kid suffer while you do your best to provide is certainly a heart wrenching experience to pay for. One problem. Right as soon as you feel like the story is picking up steam, the game is cut short by an ending that is disappointing and it feels like you didn’t work for it. I got excited, but there’s no stealth section like the main game (the main game can be played in any way you want, albeit coming with its own set of challenges for each), and you suffer no penalties for committing murder, stealing, and raids (being attacked at night would usually get someone upset in your group) because the only playable character is stuck being determined and never loses hope. This may sound good but it removes the challenges of morale penalties.
I thought the whole point of making this a separate app instead of adding it as dlc to the original game was because you improved the graphics? But clearly the iOS version is still watered down as there are ZERO rain effects. Why?? Any device with the A8 chip should have no problem handling the better graphics, and of course, the newest devices are even more powerful! There’s really no excuse for not making this port almost identical to the PC version. Also, where is the other dlc story? Please tell me you plan on adding the other stories on iOS for purchase through this app.
I went to the toy store once and left on time, but I can’t even click in it when selecting my desired location to go to. This game had so much potential, and was really good, but I am stuck on one level, which is boring. The customer support is also not great. There is no way to talk to the developers other than just doing this, and I am not even sure if anyone will reply. (If they don’t I will give 1 star rating because my game would be broken and a waste of money.)
I know This War of Mine has other stories like The Last Broadcast. Will the others be available IOS soon? I hope so! I particularly enjoyed A Father’s Promise because it felt so much easier than the base game lol. It has all the same things and mechanics I liked about This War of Mine. I had no issue with the length of this game. Yes, it’s short, but it’s still a heart-wrenching story about a father doing everything he can to get back to his little girl. People should definitely play this game.
I play the original game on Xbox. The stories are not yet available on there, so I bought it for my phone. I prefer the Xbox controls but touch works just fine. Great story, and would be great for people to try before buying the full game. One of my favorite games by far. Can’t wait for more content on Xbox, will be buying it all as soon as it’s released. Thank you 11-bit studios for this amazing and original game.
Loved ‘This War of Mine’ and I was afraid this would be a paired-down version. Thankfully it’s the same mechanic with the addition of a story/mystery element. There’s only one story (which I’ve finished in short order) but the wording in the app and App Store suggests there might be more stories to come. It’s fairly short but what’s there is really nicely done!
Don’t get me wrong I loved it but thing is… it was only one story. If I’m spending my money I was kinda expecting to have more stories to play through. Kinda a ripoff if you ask me….
