Small fixes and improments.
Forever Lost: Episode 2 picks up exactly where the first cliffhanger left off, and it is a masterclass in atmosphere. The Glitch Games team has a knack for creating 'escape room' style puzzles that are challenging but grounded in a logic that makes sense within their eerie world. The 'in-game camera' remains the best feature in the genre, allowing you to take photos of clues so you don't have to keep a physical notebook next to you.
The HD visuals are hauntingly beautiful, and the sound design—dripping water, distant creaks—kept me on edge the entire time. It’s a longer experience than the first episode, with more interconnected puzzles that require you to travel back and forth between rooms. If you enjoy games like The Room or Myst, this is an absolute essential. It’s spooky, cerebral, and deeply rewarding when you finally crack a difficult code.
Stunning HD graphics and sound
The innovative Glitch Camera clue system
Deeply immersive 'escape room' puzzles
Full hint guide included
The camera is your most valuable tool. Whenever you see a series of symbols or a suspicious pattern on a wall, take a photo. You can then pull that photo up as an overlay while trying to solve a puzzle in a different room.
Tap the edges of the screen to move between rooms. Examine every item—many objects can be picked up and used later. If you get stuck, the game features a comprehensive hint system.
While not strictly necessary to enjoy the puzzles, playing Episode 1 is highly recommended to understand the story and characters.
I have played all The Room games (so far) and really liked Forever Lost 1; I liked 2 just as much, but the hints were really annoying!! They worked fine at first, but then the text would ‘hide’ behind the ‘wooden bar’ that you you click on to open one. Had to leave game for several hours or even reboot my phone! Kept me from using them too quickly, but frustrating when I got stuck. Otherwise, loved the in-game photos—very helpful! And it was very challenging. Keep it up guys, I’m looking forward to 3, and all your other games!
There’s no way I could make progress in this game without constantly referring to the Hints. That takes the game from challenging to being persistently frustrating. In my opinion too many clues, once found, are left as balls up in the air only to be used 10 to 15 steps later. And finally, as a red-green colorblind person, I find it EXTREMELY frustrating the number of color based puzzles, the dim pastel colors used, and the fact that the “green” in the original clue setting is not the same shade of “green” in the puzzle setting, and doesn’t even match the green in the hazy “photo” of the clue setting. Most of you won’t appreciate this, but when you’re looking at seven colors in a clue and literally cannot name what 4 of them are, it makes it difficult or impossible to solve the puzzle. Even without the color issue, I did not enjoy playing this game and even though I purchased Forever Lost 3, I am going to delete it without playing it.
This is a terrific game, and kudos to the developers for many imaginative and challenging puzzles. But there are way too many puzzles that, for folks who are color blind, are fundamentally unsolvable without resorting to spoilers on the web. The flower puzzle that unlocks an attic room, the padlock puzzle with various card suits and numbers (among others) are impossible to solve alone if you can’t tell what color the puzzle elements are supposed to be. Introducing patterns or textures that further differentiate puzzle elements beyond mere use of colors would likely help resolve this problem. Developers: please try to account for this in all of your puzzle games, you’ll only gain additional fans by doing so.
Objects should not hide behind buttons. The spoil of rope was difficult to pick up. Also, the Simon says game needs a lot of work. It has taken me 20 tries entering the right pattern but I can’t get it to work. I think it registers when the finger is lifted but between the small hit box and the fact that buttons like to press themselves, I can’t get past this part of the game. It’s frustrating to have the answer and not be able to use it. Otherwise the game is very fun.
These games are so well thought out. This is far beyond your basic “find the key and unlock the door to escape” game. The puzzles are challenging, but thoroughly rooted in logic. If you get stuck, their hint system is just enough to give you the exact nudge you need without giving anything away. The graphics are beautiful and the music is perfectly creepy. I haven’t started the third game in the series yet, and I am already lamenting when it will be over and I will be done. Glitch games is the pinnacle of this genre.
I really enjoyed this game. The scope of the game, as in the number of rooms and doors, is perfect. Lots to explore without getting completely confused. And the storyline keeps you interested. I had one issue while on the tablet the first time, but it resolved itself. It kept flashing for a bit. This is the second game by Glitch that I’ve done. I found Veritas a little more engrossing, but I read good reviews about this series. I can’t wait to try the next one.
I see another reviewer posted about this glitch a year ago with no response from developers. I have purchased many a Glitch game because there are absolutely wonderful developers the helm who create amazing games. However, I am severely disappointed that I can not finish this game. In the canteen, the wooden pieces puzzle freezes completely when attempting to put down the pieces.
I played the first episode on the Switch and when I saw they were available for the iOS, I knew I had to get the rest. I love that there’s a camera (with an editing mode to take notes!!!) to take photos of clues and the puzzles themselves were brilliant and fun. The puns were bonuses, too! Escape games are one of my faves, but Glitch takes it to a whole new level.
