Everything a puzzle adventure game should be
Sat Nov 23 2024 Liztheavenger

This game has all the right elements: The story is intriguing, the locations are mysterious and eerie, and the puzzles (for the most part) are difficult but not impossible. I really like the way everything is arranged. Most of the time you can figure out what to do next based on the items you collect, and although you do have to do a majority of the puzzles in a specific order, the game lets you explore quite a bit before you’re stopped by a locked door or a blocked passageway. I only have a few critiques: -sometimes the controls are a bit off. A couple times I spent ages going in circles before realizing I hadn’t tapped the location exactly right to place an object. -a few of the puzzles don’t have any kind of rubric or a key or an explanation for to how to solve them. I like a challenge but I don’t like it when there’s zero guidance or it’s just random and you have to do hit and miss tactics -the music is good but it gets repetitive. I don’t mind the more mysterious techno inspired song that plays every other cycle in the first part, or the second score after the first act, (after fixing the elevator) but the sad tune that plays on rotation throughout the whole first act, with the violins/cellos, is way too somber and irritating for me Other than those minor issues, I love this game.

Really good game!

A wonderful offering from a new developer. This game has it all - the graphics, the puzzles, the story, the mood, the smooth gameplay - everything that makes up a really good game. The prologue to this game was great (go play it if you haven’t done that yet!) and this chapter did not disappoint. I did have trouble with a puzzle or two - didn’t find them entirely logical - and the hints didn’t really help, but maybe that’s just me. Either way, the game is so good that it didn’t spoil the fun and I was able to find a walkthrough. My only suggestion would be to make it possible to toggle between hints on and hints off within the game. Other than those little things, this is a substantially good game and NovaSoft looks like it’s on track to become one of the top developers in the beloved escape genre. Looking forward to the next chapter!!

GREAT Point & Click Adventure / Puzzle / Escape / Mystery Game

This is for you if you love the genre of point & click adventure puzzlers, or complex room escape games. This game is released chapter by chapter but it is worth the money due to the quality and complexity. Play the free Prelude first, then Chapter 1 (this game) then on to chapter 2. There has only been one puzzle I’ve needed help with - that was in the prelude and had to do with how to interpret a clue on the back of a flag. Everything in Chapter 1 is challenging but not frustrating - if you think about it for a bit, you can do it - although if you do get stumped there is an in-game hint system that provides hints and then offers to let you skip a puzzle if you wish. All in all, a great game. Eagerly looking forward to Chapter 2!

Good Fun, Could Be Better!

For the most part I truly enjoyed the game. The graphics were nicely done and the tone of the story was pleasantly mysterious. My least favorite parts were the “spatial reasoning puzzles” where parts have to be put in the right order to make things function. They have nothing to do with moving the story along nor do they have any connection to the problem at hand, just filler that eats up some time and makes the game play out longer. To me, they are tedious and the most silly part of this kind of puzzle game. If I want that kind of boring crap I’ll play a rousing game of Sudoku. I feel like I’m getting short-changed paying for an escape game that is fraught with tiresome filler. I’ll probably get the next game in the series (with lowered expectations) but will most likely take the shortcut around the banal “shuffle the pieces” segments. Nice game, but you can do better.

👍👍 for a fun, light mystery game

Yes it’s a classic “seek and tap” reminiscent of the early Myst games, but the story is entertaining and not too hard to solve the puzzles if you’re on the normal setting. Just tough and fun enough to keep you looking. And just when you think the chapter is over… a plot twist. The hints and prompts will help keep you from getting really frustrated if you need them. You want a bigger challenge? Turn off hints and prompts… have fun and good luck. Of course there is always a good “walkthrough” somewhere on the internet if you really get stuck, but save that as a last resort. It’s drawn with the artistry of a good graphic novel with enough detail to set the scene and not look like a cartoon. That really helps to spur the imagination to fill in the blanks. Audio sets the mood with a light soundtrack that is well balanced, airy and doesn’t get in the way of the sound effects. All in all it’s a game well built by its creators and worth the few dollars spent per chapter for their efforts. Pro tip: Use your earbuds and play on a tablet with a stylus if you can. “Spoiler Alert” beware the cliffhanger. ‘Nuf said. 😺

So good!

I am extremely picky about paying for puzzle games. I played the prologue of this game and knew it had potential. I was really excited to see Chapter One hit the App Store. I was a little apprehensive at first to pay for a single chapter. After reading the reviews stating the chapter was a significant play, I decided to purchase it and see for myself. The chapter provided extended play, steeped in tricky puzzles and fetching items to be used later. I played on hard so I had to really get through it in my own. Last night I put it down because I got stuck. Today after a little brainstorming I figured it out. I really loved this game. I can’t wait for chapter two.

Fun point and click adventure

Make sure you play the free prologue game first to get the most out of this game. The game is a solid point and click escape type adventure game. There is a story to unravel making it more adventure than a room escape. There is no silly character dialogue to sort through which is my preference for point and clicks, more Myst than Monkey Island. Not too difficult for experienced point and clickers but challenging enough to hold my attention. The hint system can help you if you get stuck but it doesn’t give things away, there are walkthroughs on line too if you need extra help. Thanks for the fun game, looking forward to chapter 2

Take my money!

You have a fan for life. There is something so comforting about the mechanics of this game. It’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s consistent, the puzzles are different and interesting and none of them were so hard I was annoyed (although some definitely had me thinking for a while). The world building has that myst quality but is still fresh. I want to k ow more!!! Thank you for the excellent imagery and world building annnnd ooo man back at it again with the bit of silent hill/horror seasoning—just enough for some spice—but not enough to ruin the contemplative aspects. Truly, thank you for making this game. It has heart and it shows.
