Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a turn-based survival roguelike set in a post-apocalyptic world. Scavenge for food, equipment, and vehicles to stay alive. With a deep crafting system, character mutations, bionics, and a procedurally generated world, no two games are ever the same. The 0-F (Frank) version brings massive updates to the nested container system, base building, and overall stability to the mobile experience.

95/100

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (CDDA) is quite possibly the deepest survival game ever made, and having the 0.F version on mobile is a technical marvel. This isn't a game you 'play' so much as a world you inhabit. The level of detail is staggering—you can craft anything from a makeshift shiv to a nuclear-powered mobile fortress. The simulation covers everything from body temperature and nutrition to the psychological impact of seeing a portal-horror.

The UI on mobile is naturally complex because of the sheer number of commands, but the developers have done a great job of making it as accessible as possible with custom menus. It has a steep learning curve, but once it clicks, every other survival game feels shallow by comparison. Whether you want to be a bionic-enhanced warrior or a humble farmer in the apocalypse, CDDA allows it. It’s a masterpiece of emergent gameplay where your stories of survival are limited only by your imagination.

Got me to start learning the game

This is a good-faith effort to port a keyboard-focused game to iOS with or without a keyboard. It inspired me to learn the game, knowing there is a supported app. There are few deep roguelikes on the platform so it’s very welcome. One issue on iPhone is that vertical scrollbars (e.g. when examining an object with ‘e’ or in ‘V’ mode) are apparently scrolled on PC with page up and page down. Could there be buttons for those? It may be tough to get right because in ‘e’ mode the text is under the d-pad and so the user may want to hide the overlay — but then how will we tap new page up/down buttons that live in the overlay??

It breaks after a while

When you play the game for a while on PC, you want to get it on mobile, right? That was my thought. This developer ported the game and made it cost money for the same product. Okay then. I paid the money and got what I paid for! The game is mostly untouched and decently optimized for mobile (not as much as the official version though.) and surprisingly even moddable through the files despite Apple’s restrictions. Then things went downhill. One day I opened the app and it had started on some odd menu, and then things went south. J started the game and lo’ and behold, my menu was frozen! I couldn’t access my save files through the game so I had to pick through the files to get my saves backed up. When I re-opened the app, brushing it off as a small bug (not a fresh install), it didn’t display anything at all! I honestly believe that this is just a poorly emulated version (NOT EVEN A PROPER PORT) of a game that already HAS a mobile port to go off of…

Great Port

Lots of accessibility features and a decent amount of mods and tilesets. It runs without fine even with lots of entities in the world, and even has additional content built over the core CDDA. For some reason the game sound doesn't work though, the soundpacks help a lot when it comes to immersion and it's not there. Also for the devs, when you update the version can you please try to keep it on the same app or find a way to completely transfer settings and keybindings? It's a drag to redo all of that because the game is unplayable without adjusting those. Don't get me twisted though, great work! (Also if you're reading this and have never played this game, prepare for a stupidly deep roguelike. Where even how you put your clothes on matters)

Good Port with some issues.

Game runs great on my iPhone 11. Only got one issue, when I change the resolution, if I swipe up the keyboard, the resolution will reset, in the setting menu my changes will still appear but are not applied until I make a change and that lasts until I swipe up the keyboard again. Update: Following devs instructions, now I have no issues with the game. Excellent port!

Is O.G in the works?

I should start of with a thank you for keeping the port alive on IOS for the past few years despite the little compensation, but I was wondering if the O.G stable release will come out on here as well. I think I read that it was in the works several months ago but it wasn’t finished. Either way it’s been great to have a port on IOS, so thanks.

Amazing port!

Been playing this game for years. PC broke so I’ve been impatiently waiting for this newest version to come out on IOS. If you’ve played this on PC you’ll have no problem picking up the controls and it’s the greatest feeling knowing I can play CDDA whenever I want on the go. Thanks again to the developer for your hard work.

Excellent Port!!

This port knocks the other versions out of the water, my only complaint is that I wish the "zoom in" and "zoom out" function actually worked, it's difficult to play when half of your screen is taken up by the UI.

No volume 3

I actually have checked and it says 100 on everything as well as saying the sound pack is true Question though does having too many world mods bug out the game? And if so it’s probably why i get no audio
