Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out is the successor to the acclaimed 'Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind.' Set in the world of Glorantha, it combines deep simulation with interactive fiction. Players act as the leaders of a small clan, making thousands of choices that determine the fate of their people as the world descends into darkness. From tactical combat to spiritual rituals and political maneuvering, every action is framed through a beautiful, hand-painted interface and a vast, branching narrative.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out is a monumental achievement in narrative-driven strategy. Following the legacy of King of Dragon Pass, it plunges you into a world where the gods are dying and the very sun is flickering out. This isn't a game about winning in the traditional sense; it’s about the survival of your clan through impossible choices. Every decision—from how to distribute grain to which god to sacrifice to—has ripples that might not be felt for generations. The prose is evocative, and the hand-painted art remains some of the best in the industry.

What makes Lights Going Out so compelling is its refusal to hold your hand. You are managing a culture, not just a set of stats. You must balance the conflicting desires of your advisors, deal with supernatural threats, and navigate the complex diplomacy of the Glorantha setting. It is a dense, often punishing experience that demands your full attention, but the reward is a uniquely personal story that feels like it belongs in the annals of mythology. It is a masterpiece of the 'storytelling generator' subgenre.

Q&A

While playing 'Ride Like the Wind' provides context, 'Lights Going Out' is a standalone story that introduces its mechanics and lore to new players effectively.

This is a such a niche experience

But in a fantastic land of OZ awesome mommy loves you good way. It is good. Lovingly curated contents and authentic interaction in a somewhat strange format, like an interactive novel but with a lot of freedoms that makes sense and often times lead you to crazy twists and turns. You really need to spend a little bit of time to love it, but boy does it deserve your love. Like I said, such a niche experience. Also, lots of roleplaying if you are into this stuff

Excellent entry in a promising series

Epic story of hope and fortitude in the face of impeding doom. Follows the classic King of Dragon Pass in terms of gameplay - a mix of strategy, role-playing, and roguelike. Allows imports of saves from Six Ages 1, in case you want to continue from there. High replay value. Perfect for iOS. Overall highly recommended.

Seriously addicting

I find myself spending majority of my free time playing this game and I don't know wether I like it or not. It is immensely fun, challenging, sad, funny and frustrating. It will take you for a ride on an emotional roller coaster and leave you unable to put down your phone for hours

An all time great game

This game, the first six ages, and king of dragon pass, are all made by the same group and are some of the best and most unique games I’ve played on any platform. There is no other iPhone game that comes close to the depth these have to offer!

Absolutely incredible

A Bronze Age apocalypse where the gods are dying. It is an incredible story, with incredibly harsh but rewarding gameplay; winning is not growing or expanding, but surviving to the next day. Play the other games first, so that you can enjoy this one to the fullest.

Just a marvelous game

I just spent a weekend playing till the end. I was entertained, intrigued and even moved at points. This is the Glorantha setting at its best and a fine sequel to the original King of Dragon Pass. May there be many more!

A nice ending to King of Dragon Pass Series

I’m a huge fan of King of Dragon Pass, the first edition of this series. It has an immersive world and many pathways to take. The Six Ages are a nice revisit to this world. Their story arc is much tighter and they are not as replayable. However if you love the first one, you will enjoy these two as well. Play King of Dragon Pass first.

Can’t keep food

Nothing near as good as the earlier iterations. Even on the easiest setting you spend every round trying to feed your people. It has gotten so boring that I won’t finish it. I spent probably 100 rounds figuring out Six Ages 1 and loved it. I’ve already done about 100 attempts at this one and every possible combination but no matter which course you take your people starve. Don’t recommend.
