//// Night Skate v1.2 patch notes ////
~ Added a high scores card for each level! Open it by tapping the trophy icon on the stage select screen.
~ New accessibility options added to the title screen options menu to disable screen shake and damage flash.
Night Skate is a vibe-heavy, retro-styled 'one-button' skater that perfectly captures the feeling of a late-night cruise. It’s an endless runner at its core, but it feels much more like a rhythm-action game. You string together grinds and tricks off everything from park benches to logs, building up massive combos while soaking in a fantastic 'fantasy mixtape' soundtrack.
The game's aesthetic is its greatest strength. The lo-fi, pixel-art visuals and customizable color palettes give it a distinct identity that feels both nostalgic and fresh. It’s a very 'chill' experience—even when you’re trying to beat a high score, the lack of complex controls and the atmospheric music keep it from being stressful. It’s an 'Editors' Choice' for a reason; it’s a masterclass in how to make a simple mobile game feel like a deep, atmospheric world.
Intuitive one-button controls
Chill retro pixel-art style
Unlockable songs and color palettes
Endless combo-based gameplay
Accessibility options (disable shake/flash)
To keep your combo alive, you must land a trick or a grind within a few seconds of the previous one. Use the 'manual' trick on flat ground to bridge the gap between obstacles.
As you skate, you'll earn points that unlock new stages and visual palettes. Each stage has its own unique soundtrack, helping to keep the 'mixtape' feel of the game fresh.
Simply jump toward a rail or edge; the skater will automatically begin a grind as long as you are aligned properly.
This game is one of a kind. I think in many ways it’s unique due to the arcade style. The game manages to keep you hooked even tho you’re simply working towards a high score and unlocking simple things to make it more enjoyable. I think some minor cosmetic things that you could work for would be a great addition to the game to still keep it at its core but give the player a more connected feeling to the game. Like being able to unlock different characters by doing certain tasks would give a simple grinding aspect. More levels that bring you back to the cities would be fun to see too. Even a level with like cars driving by that you could grind on or something like that would be interesting to see. Game is amazing as is. Seeing how the future goes for its development is definitely intriguing. ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE MONEY!
I looked at the game a while back and didn’t know if I should get it or not, but I got it yesterday and it’s definitely worth the money. I do wish there were more areas to play in. I do enjoy playing the first one you unlock, seaside town, but the others feel kind of jumbled and I don’t find them as appealing. I hope they add more areas like seaside town that are in more urban areas. I also hope they add more color options where the colors don’t blend together as much, which i feel like adds to the jumbled feeling on some of the maps. All in all it’s a quite enjoyable game and I would recommend it to anyone. I assume there will be more updates in the future with more maps. Great game thanks dev!
I love the art style and The sound track is nice and on point with the game boy theme, I did name the character as Sam so I’ll just say Sam, there was a few railings that had a cone at the beginning of it and made me lose some points, then whenever I answered a call or exited for a second without completely closing it I lost a pretty large score. I have a few suggestions maybe character selection or customization, the option to change your skateboard would be cool too but this game is a very well polished game and I love how you can jump on birds for a few extra points, good job And I hope to see more of you two in the future.
- Essentially, more - I’d love more maps (possibly a full city map), after about a week I beat the whole game, I still enjoy playing it, although I’d love to have new goals to work for. - More pallets, I absolutely love pixelated games that make you earn color pallets instead of character cosmetics or game upgrades - Character options, as much as I prefer the color pallets, I think it would be really cool to have the color pallets + character choices. Maybe include a bio about each character, maybe one with a long board, who knows. I just want to see more, that all. Hope these guys keep working
This game goes above and beyond for capturing that inner childhood wonder and love for simplistic games growing up. The amount of love and care that went into the graphics. The animations, and the overall gameplay is more than telling and I can’t not stress how much I enjoyed playing. The only downside is, I enjoyed playing this game so much when I got to the final level, I was floored because it was nothing else left and was left wanting more. More levels colors pallets heck maybe even a character swap or an endless mode that changes location. But asking is just asking as for the game and what is available it’s well worth the price. I strongly suggest for anyone to pick it up and give it a play.
I played this when it came out, but realize I never left a review. I’m in my 30s and still spent a better part of a summer playing this with friends comparing scores and combos trying to see who could get the best score. The music, the art, the feel, everything in this game is perfect. You can play it casually for 2 minutes or try to get perfect combos and high point totals. I remember I was listening to Mr. Morale a lot when this came out. Skating thinking about Eckart sitting outside in the sunshine. Thanks for all the amazing memories.
It’s a lot of fun and very nostalgic! Definitely brings me back to my childhood. However, one thing that I have noticed though is that when on ramps or trying to make jumps in rapid succession the controller/ button freaks out and doesn’t handle the input properly. Again that only happens when trying to press in rapid succession (about 3-4 times quickly) or when on the ramps. Other than that it is a lovely game and so much fun! I really don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun playing an endless runner video game!
It’s everything you want in a good mobile game. Number one, it doesn’t feel like a mobile game. You also just pay one price with no subscriptions or ads to constantly bog you down. It feels like something that should’ve been released on game boy or Nintendo DS years ago. It has satisfying gameplay, a gorgeous art style and a catchy chip tune soundtrack. This game, put simply, has soul and passion dripping from everywhere. Given it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
