Cloud backup feature is now supported.
First of all, I’d like to commend Capcom for converting an end-of-service gacha into a premium title. There are no micro transactions or in-app purchases and everything in the game is grindable. For fans of Megaman, this game is a treat! There are dozens(100+ I think) characters to unlock each with their own skill sets. Dozens more weapons to mix and match to fully customize your toon to your playstyle. The only thing really holding this back is the lack of cloud saves. This is a game where collecting and unlocking things is the main goal and it hurts knowing you can’t play between devices or transfer that data to a new device when you inevitably have to replace your current one.
This is how mobile games used to be (and should be again). No MTX, no constant interstitial ads… just buy and play. Period, end of sentence. And more than that, this game is a fantastic example of how developers can support always-online games that are reaching EOL. Beyond the (insane) bang-for-your-buck that you get with this game in terms of the depth of playable content, it’s also a great “theme park” of sorts for longtime MegaMan fans. There’s characters from every era of the MegaMan franchise from the classic NES games all the way to ZX and Star Force. The weapons are mostly new-ish, and perhaps that’s what I would have liked to see more of - more weapons making a return from the original games. And while you *do* see a few like the Storm Tornado and the Ray Splasher implemented as weapon modifiers and once-per-stage skills, there’s plenty of room for improvement. The combat is fun and fluid, the movement is good, and the litany of different character and gear combinations makes for what’s already been hours upon hours of fun for me. It’s a great game in its own right and doubly so if you’re already a fan of the MegaMan franchise. Well worth every penny.
So, the only thing that’s keeping this from a five star review is that this version removed a lot of content and butchered some of the gameplay mechanics from the original live gacha version that people have already restored in the PC version via mods (& and it’s going to be a while before people figure out how to port these mods to the mobile versions). My other gripe is that unlike the PC version you can’t map the pause button on a controller
For the price I paid — $0.99 — this game is absolutely worth it. Mega Man X DiVE Offline delivers solid gameplay, a full story mode, and that classic Mega Man feel without constantly trying to nickel-and-dime the player. What really stands out is that this is an offline experience. No ads shoved in your face, no gambling mechanics, no pressure to spend more money just to enjoy the game. You buy it, you play it, and you progress at your own pace. That alone makes it refreshing in today’s gaming landscape. Message to Capcom (and other developers): please make more games like this. There are plenty of players who just want to pay once and enjoy a complete, fun game without being bombarded by monetization systems. This is a great example of how to do it right. Highly recommended for fans who want a straightforward, enjoyable experience without the nonsense.
Definitely a satisfied long term purchase. I don’t know for sure but I hope they can add everything that the online version had and have the event stuff added in. Otherwise I feel like we’re missing out on things we’ll never see again like the collab events with Street Fighter and Monster Hunter. This game is definitely better with a controller. Nowadays, it’s easy to setup. What would make this a 5 star review for me would be the addition of the event characters and weapons.
This is a great game, i do think a controller make it better but a little hard to get it to work. This game makes you feel like a person that spends hundreds of dollars on a online game and can do anything they want for just $30 If you are a fan of Mega Man X the story is not a continuation from X8 but if we ever get a X9 some of the story might make it’s way into the game.
Only problem I currently notice is they took out quite a few cool characters, weapons and collabs. Also keeping some PvP features for end game content would’ve been nice.. I still love MegaMan and this is the closest I can get to a modern experience with plenty character options!! <3 also love mobile with a backbone controller! <3
You can choose basically any mega man character you want. My favorite is ultimate armor X since you can get him quick and he can use the plasma buster from Mega Max X4. Plus his skin is the look from the Mega Man X thing where you can fight all the bosses. Honestly worth it if you’re looking for a good mega man nostalgia trip.
