Fixed minor issues.
Kairosoft has done it again with Jumbo Airport Story. They have a magical formula for making complex management systems feel cozy and approachable, and the airport setting is a perfect fit. Seeing your tiny pixel passengers navigate through check-in, browse your duty-free shops, and board massive planes is immensely satisfying. The level of customization is peak Kairosoft, allowing you to design the interior layout of your terminal to maximize efficiency and profit.
As you progress from a small local airstrip to a global hub, the complexity ramps up perfectly. You’ll manage flight schedules, attract international airlines, and even influence the local town's popularity to bring in more tourists. It’s a loop that is famously hard to put down. While the graphics follow the classic pixel-art style Kairosoft is known for, the depth of the simulation ensures that it never feels dated. It's a must-buy for management sim fans.
Classic Kairosoft pixel art
In-depth facility management
Runway and flight path planning
Town-airport synergy mechanics
Place your shops and cafes directly on the path to the gates. Passengers are much more likely to spend money if they walk past a bookstore while waiting for their flight to board.
Participate in fairs to attract foreign airlines. Successfully hosting these events increases your airport's 'Global Rank,' unlocking bigger planes and more lucrative flight routes.
The game follows its own in-game calendar. You can pause or speed up time to manage your airport's growth effectively.
Kairosoft never ceases to amaze with the games that they do. I have been a fan since I downloaded Game Dev Story. I have most of their other games and they have brought me joy over the years. Jumbo Airport Story is no different. It has the same cast of characters, and same feel as the other games. I am really glad they tackled the air travel sector. Playing this was a blast and am now going for my second attempt to implement some ideas I had since clearing it the first time. Highly recommend it to those interested. It was money well spent and I hope you find the same, if not more, enjoyment out of it as I did.
Feel like this game is lacking that real airport feel. There is no real interaction with the planes. It’s more or less just you building up the inside of the airport. I liked the idea at first, but I feel for $6, it’s lacking quite a bit. This is more like a $1.99 game at most. I do like building the inside of the airport but I want more to do with the actual planes. Also there is no real way to change prices of stuff other than using items. I’d like to be able to set prices on certain things myself. I feel like this game has potential but just fell short. I’m hoping there will be future updates that will add more. I haven’t played the other games they’ve released but people seem to think they just slapped a skin on a previous game and labeled it airport. I expect more from a company than that. Do better.
Really great game that's easy to pickup but takes a little time to master. Addicting but leaves good points to put the game down and come back to it later. It is missing some quality of life improvements such as moving multiple items at once. This becomes particularly noticeable later in the game when you are adjusting your airport more often to fit more plane arrival spots while maximizing the scenery bonus to make the most money on each arrival. Would also be nice to know how much of a scenery bonus shops are getting when you are placing trees and such so you know where to maximize this aspect.
Earning money and research points is fast. It’s easy to build facility popularity. It’s easy progressing to rank up and unlock visitors and other things too. Expanding is more flexible because you can adjust to your taste if you want a larger airport building for more facilities or a larger outside space for more aprons and runways. The game is so comfortable I never had to worry about my money going red. One cycle of 10 years feels short but it’s long enough to make me feel okay to want to start and New Game right away because the momentum is not gone yet.
Enjoyed the newest Kairosoft release. I found that compared to the other Kairosoft releases, the first run ended pretty fast and I felt like I barely touched the surface so there’s definitely more to be done. Airport Story is most similar to World Cruise Story out of all the games - similar idea of going to other countries and having visitors who request/provide new content. I’m still going through my first run so there’s so much left to unlock and do. Always recommend Kairosoft games.
As with all Kairosoft games, Airport Story is a joy to play. There are no pesky microtransactions — just a good, solid game that’s perfect for passing the time. I even had the irony of playing it during a long flight! The mechanics are familiar if you’ve played other Kairosoft titles, which makes it easy to dive into, but it’s also intuitive for newcomers. Overall, another winner from Kairosoft that keeps you entertained. Highly recommended for fans
Been playing kairosoft games for several years and while the general gameplay loops are always similar there was always some gameplay mechanic that made the games unique. But lately it just feels like they are grabbing the mall/resort builder games and slapping different costs of paint on the same game. This is an airport game where the airport/planes function essentially like rooms and the main chunk of the game is just creating a mall for the people staying in the plane. Just feels like they are cashing in at this point which is sad as I’ve loved this developer for so long.
Feels more like a community center/mall builder with an airport taped on especially early game. Was looking forward to setting up an airport but felt with the size got more side lined in to building up a place for people to just visit and buy stuff without the other bells and whistles that make an airport. Still so far a fun title and has the kairosoft charm, but just a warning if you’re looking for a more traditional airport tycoon this might not hit that spot at first
