One of the best games ever, but one problem
Sun Jul 10 2016 Rafdog50

Final Fantasy VII is one of the best video games of all time, and there's nothing different about it in this mobile port except for one thing. That says a lot right there! But that begs the question: what is the one problem this game has? Auto saving. This game NEEDS an auto saving mechanic. When you play a good RPG, you play it for HOURS, and this is one of those cases. However, chances are, if you're so in the game and can't stop playing. You'll likely be having an experience so unreal that you'll forget to save in the long run. That being said, if you die and you haven't saved for a while or at all, then you're going to have to start the game all over again. Which will be very frustrating, rage insisting, annoying, and disappointing. And shockingly enough (sarcasm) this happened to not only myself, but to basically every other person who played this port. So please, game developers, add this feature.

Very nice port bringing me back

As one of the second Final Fantasy games I’ve played growing up! FFVII has won me over instantly I beat the bombing mission! Of course at a younger age I didn’t understand the story much, but wow I did enjoy the active turn base battle! Later on when FFVII was ported to PC I grabbed it and it was great as they kept the graphics as it was. Played through and understood the story. Now that I got my hands on the mobile port(finally had iPhone with enough room) I can enjoy the game on the go! Of course the controls feel a little weird as it’s all over the screen, but as you play on you tend to forget it’s there. The music is great especially using headphones or AirPods! The ability to iCloud save is a great move as now I can continue from iPhone to iPad! I like the auto save BUT it was never in the game before so I will never use it! Cheats will make the game way too simple, no fun, sure you can get the full story quicker but the combat is worth it combine with the story. All in all though this port gave me the chance to play at work...shhhh don’t tell! 11/10 thanks! TL:DR funny this is the first time I used it! So the port is very good with controls that cover the screen making it quite distracting unless you play for 30+ minutes it’s like it not there. Cheat are not worth it and auto save made it too easy. But to include it was great for new players. I give this game 11/10 nostalgia, great story, replay value, and portable!

Better than you’d think

This have never crashed on my phone, i can minimize it to do other things including check online for a walkthrough. I thought when i bought this that the controls might be janky but the truth is that they are very smooth. The game even lets you choose between joystick styles. The game allows you to turn off random battles if you like which i enjoy to save time when revisiting lower level areas that really have no impact on my overall play through. Also, the game will let you skip level grinding all together and allow you to max out all your characters and money at once. I don’t recommend that unless you just want to play through for the mini games and storyline. However for some players that’s a valuable time saving feature. This is a fantastic game and my favorite from the series. Well worth having it on your phone. No ads or anything since you’re buying the game outright.

Nostalgic...But

As an Avid FFVII Player I Will Start Off By Saying The Actual Gameplay of This is Great, I Have No Issues With Freezes or Lag Hits or Anything as Some of the Previous Reviews Stated (Which Really Kept Me Cautious to Buying This...) However, as the Newer Editions of this Game Come Out (Via PS4/iPhone) They Like to Keep Adding 'Easy Buttons' to the Game. I Personally Think They are Ruining the Game... The Good News is Though, You Don't HAVE to Use Them. If You are a First-Time FF7 Player, I Really Suggest Not Playing This Version to Start Off, the New Age of Gamers Tend to Have a LOT Less Patience with Games, and That Being Said, with the Difficult-to-Use D-Pad and the As-Always Screwed Up Help Box (Not Labeling Ladders and Doors Correctly, Gotta Love Squaresoft xD) It Will Be Very Difficult to Navigate If You Have Zero Idea What You Are Doing. My Only True Dislike About this Rip is the D-Pad, It Seems Very Difficult to Hit the Left Arrow at Times and Gets Pretty Aggravating in a Battle Trying to Click the Correct Spell. Other than that Issue, I Personally Enjoy this Overall.

This is a great port but FF7 is overrated

As a new player of FF7, it absolutely doesn’t hold up. It was innovative for its time but much like the great films of yesteryear, most of the great games of yesteryear are there for those who want to reminisce, revisit their childhood, or otherwise imagine a “better” time that never truly was. This FF7 port does that. The game is playable, it runs great, I didn’t encounter a single bug. So the port is fantastic, whichever team brought this to iPhone did an outstanding job. FF7 itself is just a dated game, filled with poor story and design choices that are cumbersome or don’t make sense, which plagued the limited tech of that era. It was innovative when it came out, but in the world of now leaves much to be desired. I will say the combat is fun, the unique take on turn based combat is confusing at first but engaging once you get the hang of it, the environment design can be challenging or downright confusing to navigate in a not fun way, but it is fun and very different from other games I’ve played.

Perfect as it can be

I do not feel like I wasted a single penny. This was on of my first rpgs outside of Zelda and truly shaped my love for the genre. The game plays exactly like the console they even added a few extras like auto save in world map. I have had no issues with crashing freezing or much lag at all. I have seen a lot of reviews on here complaining about the game not auto saving when you lock your phone. I do not see this as a complaint. If they were to add this is would add a cheat that would allow the player to bypass part of the games challenge which is wrong. I agree it can be frustrating but this is not a casual play game while you gf runs into the store real fast. You need to sit down and treat it like a console game and set real time to play so you can find save points when you can. Overall I have no complaints I love it. I wish this app had 5 stars it deserves it.

As good as the ps version

This game is awesome and brings back memories to when I played it on the PlayStation. So many reviews about the controls being frustrating, but it's actually not a big deal at all. I use analog mode and it works fine. I would take caution when going from the game app to other apps, especially if not resuming game play asap, because sometimes it triggers the game to reset to the title screen, but just make sure to save before exiting the app and there's nothing to worry about. The only issue I have is a little glitch where, when in the highwind cabin and talking to the pilot to take off, the screen goes black for some time just to bring me back to the same cabin screen, where I'll have to talk to the pilot again...and then it takes me to the map screen where I can fly around. I wonder if this can be fixed with the next update. Awesome game.

YESSS!!!!!!!

Final Fantasy VII has always been my favorite Final Fantasy game and I was really surprised to see that it was available as an app.. and for the WHOLE GAME!!! I was hesitant at first at downloading it because 1) I knew it was going to take up my spare time b/c I'll be playing it all the time, 2) I won't be able to use a full controller, 3) People were complaing about autosaving, and 4) People said that it would freeze in some parts. After playing the game, it seems that they fixed all these problems! The game autosaves on most parts of the game for you, the on screen controls adjust to how you want them to be set up (what do you expect for a full game condensed to an iPhone app), and plus, you'll get used to the controller. The game also has not freezed on me on any parts! The nostalgia! You'll get to experience everything all over again as a kid growing up with this game!!!!!
