- Minor localization fixes
Drova - Forsaken Kin is a breath of fresh air for RPG fans who are tired of being treated like they’ve never played a game before. It is unapologetically difficult and demands that you actually pay attention to the world around you. The lack of a minimap might sound daunting, but it forces you to engage with the beautiful, grim pixel art in a way that most modern games don't. You start to recognize trees, rocks, and ruins as actual landmarks rather than just background noise.
The combat is the real star here. It feels weighty and deliberate. You can't just button-mash your way through a pack of wolves; you have to manage your stamina and build your 'flow' to survive. The Celtic setting provides a hauntingly beautiful backdrop to the violence, and the faction system actually feels like it has weight. Your decisions don't just change a few lines of dialogue; they change your entire playstyle. If you’re looking for a 'hardcore' RPG that fits in your pocket, this is it.
Handcrafted open world with no quest markers
Deep combat system centered on 'flow'
Branching narrative with meaningful faction choices
Atmospheric pixel art and Celtic mythology setting
Complex crafting and equipment systems
Since there are no quest markers, you must listen to NPC dialogue and read your journal carefully. Pay attention to landmarks like standing stones or specific ruins mentioned by characters to find your way.
Combat is about rhythm and timing. Chaining attacks increases your flow, allowing you to unleash powerful abilities, but one mistake can be fatal in this unforgiving world.
Align yourself with one of two major factions. This choice determines your available skills, equipment, and how the world's population perceives you.
Drova is designed to be a challenging experience, but mastering the combat flow and crafting better gear will naturally make the journey more manageable.
This is such a cool game, I love the graphics and world building. The story is also super interesting and I would have kept going but my phone kept crashing whenever I got to new people or creatures. So I ended up saving my game every few minutes to make sure I didn’t have to start from way earlier when I got the app back up. This got kind of tedious after a while and honestly ruined the immersion for me, so I gave up and deleted it. My phone is an iPhone 13 and has been having issues already, so I doubt it’s the app’s fault, I was just disappointed my phone couldn’t handle it. Highly recommend if you have a device that can handle it!!!
I think that this game has a lot of great potential. However, it has a few bugs and issues which made me decide not to purchase it. Including unclose-able menus, which soft locks you. Then when you reload your game by force closing the app, it resets some of your progress. This tends to happen during the dialogue where you practice blocking and doing combos. Picking items and equipping/using them can be a bit difficult on iPhone. It would be nice for there to be an item cool down so you know you have used an item. Instead of accidentally using it 2-3 times. Basic enemies have nice mechanics overall, I like how each NPC has their own tidbits of history, overall nice pixel artwork, but there’s something in it that it’s missing. The lore is okay but there’s nothing that really grabs and hooks your attention. I’m not sure how to explain it, but it doesn’t make you feel alive. Like staring endlessly into a black and white still photo. I’ve played plenty of 2D pixel games and RPG games, but this one feels like it’s missing some soul to it. I’m sorry, if that sounds quite harsh.
Insane that this game has so few downloads and reviews. Drova was awesome! It was much more than I thought it would be when I first downloaded it. I just finished after 30+ hours and had the best time. I could barely put it down. The combat was great once you get used to it, especially after you learn some spells and weapon arts. The story was interesting and kept me invested, and the side quests were fun and often rewarding. Plenty of enemies to fight, plenty of quest variety, and plenty interesting environments along the way, all kept the game fresh and engaging. There was minimal handholding, but even still I only had to look at a walkthrough 2-3 times to figure out where to go or what to do. It’s SO hard to get that balance right, and I think the devs nailed it. Big and resounding recommendation from me!
Straight to I I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this game. The idea, the world, the graphics, and the story all look and feel amazing. Caught my interest very fast and the fighting feels nice. Now my own issue, I just wish I could enjoy for more than 3-5 minutes, I have an IPhone 13 and the game crashes on me. I’ve tried messing with graphic settings and got an extra minute or two (I think) but it still crashed on me. I don’t have no where near the newest hardware so if you have a 13 or older, maybe a 14 it might crash a lot. Other than that enjoy the game, I’m sure it’s a good one.
This is the mobile RPG all of the fake ad RPG games pretend to be but never deliver. And let me tell you, this game DELIVERS. It could have half of the features and fun character dynamics and I would still recommend this game. Thoughtful and interesting dialogue, real character class choices that never seem to put you in a box, and an open world that actually feels real are just a few of my favorite features. I rarely come to the App Store to write a review but this one deserves it. Enjoy making choices to build your stats and abilities, looting corpses, and saving up for your favorite weapons in town. It’s really everything I could wish for in a mobile RPG. Absolutely a banger. You can even find yourself wandering the “wrong”direction and face to face with enemies you’re not strong enough for yet. The game is sweet. Worth every penny. Also there are no in game purchases to be seen. Buy the game and own the game. As it should be.
Love the classic 8-bit style, not to mention the medieval fantasy of it all. I also really enjoy how you aren’t forced down one particularly route, like you could be quite evil if you wanted to and steal and kill instead of how other games force you to be good. The story and controls are good too, but one thing i would add to this game is the ability to track quests better. Like to be able to just focus on one because with all the ones i have started it gets kind of confusing to keep track of them.
I’ve been sleeping on this one. I’ve had it on my steam wishlist forever on my pc. I saw you can play a demo version of it here on iOS. I said why not let’s try it and let me say I was hooked from the start. I’m still doing the demo part and intend to get the whole version here on iOS when I hit the end of the demo. It’s what I play each morning here at work waiting for our foreman to come in and give us the job for the day. Reminds me of a top down version of risen or gothic back in the day.
I originally downloaded this game on my iPad which is 9th generation. Before purchasing the game, it ran smoothly and seemed so fun! Graphics are impressive and gameplay is intriguing. After the demo course of the game had finished, I decided to pay the full price to play the entire game. Upon opening Drova I immediately ran into the problem of the app restarting me. When this happens I am returned to my home screen and haven’t been able to progress in the slightest, due to every thirty seconds the app crashes. This feels like a waste of my money, and I wish I could get a refund to actually play what I payed for. Disappointing honestly.
