Beholder: Conductor successfully captures the crushing dread of the previous games while introducing a fresh, claustrophobic setting. Being stuck on a train adds a new layer of tension—you can't just run away from the consequences of your actions. The interactions with passengers feel more intimate and, therefore, the moral choices feel much heavier.
The art style remains iconic: dark, shadowy figures with glowing eyes that emphasize the lack of individuality in a total-surveillance state. The UI is well-adapted for touch screens, making it easy to toggle between cameras and inventory.
What makes this game truly 'expert' level is the writing. The stories of the passengers are genuinely tragic and moving, making it very difficult to be a 'loyal' employee. It’s a thinking-person's game that will leave you questioning your own morality long after you've closed the app. A fantastic, dark addition to the App Store.
Unique 'Train-based' dystopian setting
Deep moral branching narratives
Stealth and management gameplay loop
Stunning, moody silhouette art style
Multiple endings based on your choices
Only search a passenger's cabin when they are in the dining car. Use the 'Look through Keyhole' feature first to ensure the coast is clear, and always leave the room exactly as you found it.
The State gives you quotas, but the passengers give you money. Balance your reputation with the ministry against your need for cash to pay for your own family's survival back home.
It is a spin-off set in the same universe, focusing on a new character and setting.
