Fun and beautiful

This is a really nice game, and if the premise intrigues you, a no brainer download. You’re wandering freely through a parallel dimension type world, piecing together a strange language through visual cues. For instance, you might see someone talking and be able to infer some words from their actions. Or you might find a pictorial monument with a caption in glyphs that you can interpret from the depicted scene. If this sounds fun to you, you’ll like this game. If not, for sure give it a pass. But for those so inclined, this is a full, well produced and involving game with a magnificently artistic visual style. It winds up being longer and deeper than it first appears, so if you enjoy it up front, it’s only going to get better. For me, the puzzles took just the right amount of figuring out, always logical and fair. There is also a decent and surprisingly poignant underlying story. It’s fun and rewarding to play, and the kind of game that will stick with you long after you finish. If parsing out a language from quality clues is your kind of game, Sennaar is terrific.

What an incredible game…I’m almost speechless. I can’t believe the publisher is only asking six bucks! (And thank you for the ability to check it out first!) The art and design, immaculate. Absolute brain candy. The story and how it unfolds, curious and wonderful. The language as primary puzzle component, so much fun! It’s just fantastic. And it keeps going, cohesively, interestingly. Each level has such a lovely assortment of mysteries and little puzzles. Such a creative game. Two relatively tiny improvements imo: the double-tap for the glyphs is unusually fast (on an iPhone 14) to the extent that it was frustrating. Also, a map would be out of place of course, but so much time looking if you can’t remember locations. This hasn’t unseated Inkle’s 80 Days as my favorite game (replayability), but it is right up there. Thank you!

Great game, but one problem

I love this game, it’s so fun, beautiful and challenging. It’s almost perfect but, I find that I constantly miss important things and have to watch play throughs to actually play the game right. This is because it, at times, can be very unclear which way you are supposed to go, leading to me missing important things. Like, in the very beginning of the warriors section I missed a key thing in the very beginning but was able to keep going. But, then I got stuck and found I missed an important part. I was quite frustrated at that because I had to go back to the very beginning of that section. I love this game, I only wish it was more clear where you are supposed to go next. Maybe this is just a me thing, I still love the game and it was totally worth the cost.

This game is absolutely beautiful. I’ve eyed it for awhile for PS but I’ve read it’s not super challenging so I’ve passed on it bcs of the cost (there are much more robust puzzle games for PS for much less when they’re on sale). I saw it was on iOS and for a fraction of the cost so I decided to play the trial. I’m so glad I did and I’m purchasing the full version, which is good bcs my wife has taken over playing a solo game of BG3 on my PS5 so I have to have a game to play somewhere! 😁 It’s a really interesting concept and I haven’t played anything quite like it but I also only started gaming again during COVID when I was 40yrs old so I had quite the 30yr gap. The vaguely monochromatic design w splashes of complimentary color to contrast is visual eye candy. Def worth a few bucks!

Beautiful theme and story marred by tedious runaround and inscrutable graphics

Incredible idea and story and linguistic puzzle design. Would be stellar if they had better graphic UI/UX implementation, and took more care in making the story coherent, since that is needed to solve the language puzzles. Most of the game time is trying to click on nearly invisible targets, and doubling back to pick up an item that the game was supposed to pick up automatically when you tapped, but it didn’t. The non language puzzles are easy except when you need a walkthrough to tell you that you missed picking up the reward for completing a previous puzzle. App restarts when task switching, and takes a full minute to load and show branding ads before getting back into game. If you task switch while it’s loading, you come back to a black screen until you force kill the app.

Great Language Puzzle Game

I LOVE this game. It took a bit for me to catch on to the mechanics and how you figure out the puzzles, but I got the hang of it and I’m having such a good time playing. The difficulty increases steadily as you move through the floors, and each section has a new group of people with a new language. What’s even better is the translation/fast travel ports where you connect the different people and help them understand each other.z I only just past the third level with the bards, but I can’t wait to keep going. I only wish I picked it up on a bigger screen than my phone 😅 the controls can be a bit finicky due to the small resolution, but it’s not too bad at all. Thanks for making this

Extremely fun

I never write reviews nor do I purchase games for my phone often but this game was too much fun not to mention it I downloaded this game originally to kill time before a class and I enjoyed the concept and gameplay of the free so much I bought it on the spot and played the whole thing I struggled to put my phone down The only complaint I have is it is difficult to navigate to locations at the edge of the phone screen and while using the joystick to avoid that issue it becomes difficult if not impossible to see translations for character dialogue Besides that it’s a fantastic game

Love the linguistic puzzles, tired of running around in circles
Fri Sep 12 2025 Steveshooman

I love the concept of this game and feel like the language puzzles are the highlight. These are intriguing and difficult enough, without being impossible. But the repetition of each level, after the first level, being labyrinthine is tiring. It’s also quite hard to play on my phone, due to lack of zoom capabilities. I can’t see gestures very clearly and miss details that I’m sure I’m meant to see, or click on just the wrong area with my stubby fingers on this tiny game screen, only to be killed. (For this reason, I appreciate that I don’t have to worry about “lives.”) I’m going to finish the game because I’m interested in the story, but I find the gameplay a bit of a slog.
