- Global Launch Version
- Small bug fixes
Timelie is, quite frankly, one of the best puzzle games I've played on any platform, let alone mobile. The central mechanic of scrubbing through time like a YouTube video is so intuitive that you'll wonder why more games don't do it. It turns stealth from a game of frustration into a game of choreography. Being able to see your plan fail in the 'future' and then rewinding to fix it in the 'past' is incredibly empowering.
The relationship between the girl and the cat is adorable and mechanically vital. Using the cat to distract guards while the girl sneaks past feels like a perfectly executed heist every time. The visuals are stunningly minimalist, and the story is told with such grace that it doesn't need a single word of dialogue to be moving. It’s a flawless experience that every mobile gamer should have in their collection.
Innovative Time Manipulation
Dual-character Gameplay
Stunning Minimalist Visuals
Challenging Stealth Puzzles
Use the 'Scrub Forward' feature to see where the guards move. Once you know their patrol route, drag the timeline back and walk through when their backs are turned.
The cat can 'Meow' to attract guards. Time this precisely so the guard leaves their post, then scrub the timeline to have the girl sneak past simultaneously.
The time manipulation mechanic makes it very forgiving; if you fail, you can just rewind and try a different strategy.
This is a great puzzle game. It’s not too easy, tbh, but it’s worth it. I can’t believe this isn’t more popular. It’s my favorite game on the phone ever. I don’t know what there is not to like about the game. It worked great on my phone. The controls are easy to understand. It’s a lot more difficult than monument valley, for reference. Sort of spoiler about the ending: it is a tear jerker. The characters get a little bit of development, but not too much. There’s no written story or human dialogue.
Attempting to control the cat or girl on an iPad Pro 13 is really frustrating. The forward (>>) and reverse (<<) time controls are far too large (the actual control size several times the size of the visible element and is only revealed when tapped) and high placed. One is constantly unintentionally moving time instead of selecting a destination for the character. In addition, there is no way to trace a path for the character like in the PC version. The character always chooses the shortest path to the destination which means that if there is more than one route the character will frequently run right into a guard. At the very least, I don’t understand why the << and >> are large a placed almost halfway up the screen. The controls make what would normally be a fairly entertaining game into a frequently irritating experience. Actually getting through the door to the level one puzzles is one of the more difficult challenges. On an iPad Pro 13, there is, I assume, unintentional overlap of the “<<“ control with the door element. As far as the game itself, it is stylish, but I’m not sure that being able to scrub forwards and backwards in time really adds much more than complexity to the gameplay experience. It’s nice to have an undo feature, though. Seems like there is a lot of potential here, but the game really needs some usability updates. The price seems very fair.
This is a fantastic, clever, suspenseful game with beautiful graphics that’s definitely worth the price. I never write reviews, but this game is so close to perfect I wanted to mention a couple things that would elevate it to five stars. The main issue is the controls. Since the timeline scrubber and rewind/fast-forward buttons are laid over the “board,” it’s far too easy to tap the board accidentally, moving the characters where you don’t want them, when you’re trying to time-travel forward or back. If you do make this kind of mistake, you may have to redo a large part of the level you’d already finished. Conversely, it’s easy to tap the timeline scrubber when you’re trying to move a character to a specific spot, shifting the level to a time position you’re not currently playing. Paradoxically, this is an even bigger problem on the iPad, despite the extra screen space, and there’s no way to undo a quick but frustrating mistake. Which leads me to my second point… PLEASE add an Undo button! Since it’s so easy to tap something accidentally, which makes the game tedious instead of fun, there should be a quick way to reverse your previous action. That alone would make this a 5-star game. Again, I love playing Timelie. It has just the right level of difficulty, and passing a realm always feels rewarding. I tried this game after loving Snapbreak’s Boxes: Lost Fragments, which may be my favorite mobile game ever. I’m hoping for a sequel to that sometime soon. I definitely recommend this game, even with the control issues I discussed. It’s a great way to strategize and solve entertaining problems.
I’ve been waiting forever for this game to release, and now that it has, I’ve put so many hours into it and couldn’t be happier, it has unique mechanics and a great story. It really got me back into mobile gaming.
The graphics are pretty nice and I like how I get a little cat companion; it kinda reminds me of Stray. Although, I wish I could also trace paths like on the pc but with a tablet. I love how it’s kinda like a story in the making, however I wish there was a part 2 to it. I can’t really say much since I didn’t buy the full game but it’s still really nice. I’m kinda sad you gotta pay for the full game but you have to make money somehow, and it’s pretty cheap so I’m not mad.
I love cats so this game is awesome it’s beautiful controls are decent no adds I just wish you could be the cat without having to pay I am in middle school with an allowance of 5 dollars a week barely any free time to do odd job so I might no pay for the rest of the game but I have loved what I saw if I were to pay I would need more chapters I beat the free level (which are just under half the game) in a day
This game 1. HAS NO ADS 2 is very interactive and could intertain anyone of any age for hours 3 there is an option for you to talk and see other people
It’s been a long time since I played a ‘real’ new mobile game. Slick graphics, nice gameplay, and (maybe even some story, haven’t got very far yet?). I really like it so far, thank you so much game devs for the masterpiece!
