Brotato is an absolute masterclass in the 'Survivor' lite-roguelike subgenre. As an expert in action roguelikes, I was impressed by how it differentiates itself from Vampire Survivors by focusing on a 'wave-based' structure and a deep, inventory-driven shop phase. The ability to equip up to six weapons at once allows for insane build variety, from a gunslinging potato to a melee-focused tank.
The mobile port is exceptionally well-handled, with auto-firing mechanics that feel native to the touch screen. The variety of playable potatoes—each with distinct stat modifiers—ensures that no two runs feel the same. It’s addictive, fast-paced, and offers a perfect difficulty curve that rewards both tactical planning and quick reflexes. For anyone who enjoys high-intensity action and the satisfaction of finding a broken, overpowered build, Brotato is a top-tier mobile title.
Wield Up to 6 Weapons
Diverse Playable Characters
Hundreds of Items and Weapons
Fast-Paced Wave Survival
Investing in 'Harvesting' early on is key. It provides a steady stream of materials at the end of every wave, allowing you to buy more powerful items without having to rely solely on enemy drops.
Try to stick to one or two weapon types (e.g., Primitive or Precise) to gain massive set bonuses. These bonuses often provide the health and damage needed to survive the final boss wave.
A successful run typically consists of 20 waves and takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Can’t believe iv been passing this game up for so long, definitely a hidden gem! I instantly got addicted to this game, to the point I have it on all my devices! The only thing this Mobil version is missing. Is complete controller support for the menu selection’s, other than that I have no complaints. I understand ads!! Especially being a social media influencer, but this dosent bombard you with you ads to the point it’s frustrating, you may have to watch to couple in order to get some extra buffs, but it’s worth it because it’s at your discretion & I haven’t seen one ad during gameplay and been playing this for about a week now. Oh & the character selection is a bit of a bummer. You can instantly unlock characters after your First match on console. Depending on how decent you are at this. Witch it isn’t hard at all. But it helps me feel like I’m actually progressing & not just stuck in this repetitive loop. But that’s my only gripe other than that great job devs. Im hoping this game could expand a lil more with time. I still appreciate it as it is ultimately. So yo should definitely check it out!💯

Brotato is an absurdly low-effort, last game. The loop pushes the meaning of “boring” and “repetitive,” and the balancing completely broken, meant to force you into micro transactions. You run around, avoiding enemies, while your guns automatically shoot for you. That’s it. You choose upgrades when presented, but choosing the same few (attack speed, damage, etc) will guarantee you an easy playthrough. Level 1 was a fair challenge, but the 2nd boss of lv 2 was impossible. I had to exploit a glitch to replay the boss fight over 10 times before defeating it. After that, the two proceeding bosses in the level weren’t a challenge. But the next two levels, 3 and 4, were another wild of easy. For those two levels, “Playing Brotato” meant pressing “play” and then not touching my phone while my character stood still and razed the screen for a collective 40 waves. I knocked out last boss of level 4 in 10 seconds. Then level 5 recommended that I have a “totem level of 4” — mine is 1. Upgrading your totem is tedious, requiring a rare resource you’re encouraged to pay money for. Because my totem level was too low, it seems, enemies were invulnerable. The wave 1 basic enemies were absorbing 200+ damage without dying—for reference, those same enemies would die at between 5 and 18 damage in the previous 4 levels. Level 5 is, I imagine, rigged to be unplayable unless you get to a certain level. This immediately follows a level where I hardly needed to touched the screen it was so easy? Absurd, scummy, and lazy game. Joke of a game. Not worth your time.
I think the game is good, I usually never leave comments but this game is genuinely a fun game I usually download play a game for awhile then delete but this game is a pretty good game and I’ve kept it downloaded for awhile. I know that all I’m doing is praising the game because it is a genuinely good game but I think some changes could make the game better. More items if the game had more items then it does the game would be even better I feel like continuing to update and add new things would make me continue to come back and make new runs. Make unlocking new characters easier. Honestly if it was easier to unlock new characters and gain spuds I would have a better time just sitting down and playing the game for awhile. I understand you get spuds from logging in and you can get a lot of spuds enough to buy characters through constant play, but there aren’t really any new weapons you can unlock, I’ve played the game a bit and after unlocking a couple weapons I haven’t found any new ones maybe there are some but it’s not easy to obtain, you should be able to unlock more than just the abilities and stuff you get from finishing a difficulty with a character. This is just suggestions because I genuinely like the game I honestly think it’s fun and even if my suggestion go to the void I wouldn’t care the game is great. And I think there should be meld weapons that create shock waves or drones or something that can get enemies that surround you because the only attack like that are the eyes you throw around you. It would be a lot easier to beat the later difficulties and they can be rarer to get I wouldn’t mind I’m all for rng. I think for the bosses they should be more detailed instead of mini bosses with more red balls of light spinning around them remove the small enemies and make the boss fights cool I think it would make the game so much more memorable. If there were hard bosses that looked cool like the binding of Isaac. These are just suggestions you can take them with a grain of salt. Overall great game and doesn’t need improvement but it could be improved if you know what I mean.
I remember seeing a review on this game for the pc, thought it looked good but wasn’t sure if I’d like it considering I’ve never really played a vampire survivor style game before, and when I saw it for free on mobile I was skeptical since 90% of mobile games have constant pop up adds, thankfully this is not one of those games, the only adds it has are 30 second optional ones that give you a reward when watching them. When it comes to gameplay brotato is a very simple game that lends itself well to a mobile port, just like in vampire survivors it shoots automatically which makes it really easy to control on mobile since you only have to use one joystick. Over all this is about as good as mobile games get.
Hello my name is Will and I just started playing Brotato. (This will be a fairly short review bc I just started playing.) I am new to the rogue like genre and I have to saw Brotato is very fun and addicting. I love the art style and all the different weapons and abilities. I only have two issues with this game: #1 Their are a lot of ads in the free version, especially when you need to respawn, and #2 is that if you are going to play this game I would recommend saving up 5 bucks to get it on steam or if you want to play on mobile get the premium paid version it’s only 5 bucks as well. Overall very solid game, I will probably get it on steam myself, but it’s a very fun time def worth checking out.
So first off this game is a lot of fun but I have some ideas if you wanna them so firstly so weapons and items but I will start with items so what if they’re was a robot suit that increases attack and armor but decreases speed next is simple glowing bullets that increase range damage not too much though now the other part of it the weapons a branch that is like a stick but times two then a bottle cap mini-gun that fires bottle caps at a insane rate but it doesn’t do much damage but I makes that up for speed and two is a character idea I have it is a cook they start with one farm and a knife and you can decide of the rest if you see this just say what you think
This game is amazing for being free but there is one drawback to the free version. In the game there is currency called “spuds” spuds allowing you to purchase talent cards, ad coupons (allows you to use it to not have to watch an ad), and purchase characters. Making it so that you have to buy or earn enough spuds to earn characters is a very big drawback. And yes this is how Erabit will earn money off Brotato but I just feel as if this “feature” just pulls me away from the game. If you were to change the way you earn characters or lower the prices of characters this would solve this problem.
