Our Expert Score

82/100

Ax Roguelike is a surprisingly deep deck-building experience that sheds the typical fantasy tropes for a more focused, tactical approach to the genre. As a fan of the 'Slay the Spire' era of gaming, I was immediately struck by how well this title translates complex synergies to a vertical mobile screen. The loop is classic: enter a dungeon, fight turn-based battles, collect new abilities, and inevitably fall only to start again with more knowledge.

What sets Ax apart is the clarity of its UI. Roguelikes can often feel cluttered, but here, the intent of every card and enemy action is readable at a glance. The difficulty curve is steep but fair; you’ll find yourself agonizing over a single choice of upgrade because the margins for error in later stages are razor-thin. It’s a 'just one more run' kind of game that respects your time while demanding your full attention.

Very interesting game

I really like what I’ve played so far. To echo another’s sentiment, the skill selection at the end of battle has been broken so you just have to guess what the skill might be before choosing. I think there is a ton of potential here. One of the main issues I have is that some of the English is a bit strange and difficult to parse. Keeping my rating at 5 stars for visibility reasons but keep what I’ve written in mind.

Complex, strategic and addictive!!

Game has got its claws in me…playing for the past couple of days and it just keeps getting bigger as I go. Very deep game with totally varied card mechanics. More than any other game of its type (deck builder) I truly get the impression that I’m in a fight, not just pulling cards. Each move has an impact. Beware though…this game doesn’t hold your hand. But rest assured that it does indeed make sense. One note- The SKILL button needs to be highlighted as it’s how you pretty much do everything.

Needs work on accessibility.

I can tell that you are trying to make this game accessible to the blind, but so far, it is quite hard to navigate and doesn’t make much sense. It would be good if you could make the voice features more smooth and generally accessible. Also, there doesn’t appear to be any sort of tutorial, so I’m already lost when opening the game. any and all progress towards accessibility is much appreciated.

Great game and fast Dev!

Accessible and deep!

Many gorgeous game elements. Accessible pars are coming together. Maps need missions to complete. More quest. Break tutorials down into smaller sentences. Explain card play principals. Show us where monsters are. Make stores, village goals and missions easy to find. Place “empty” on values that are zero or 0. What is the name of this game, because Voiceover can not pronounce it. It had to get a translator to help me. Beautiful music, ambience! Cute sound effects. Thanks for the BGM, Sounds and SE controls! Win! More clues to when we get weapons, trinkets and items. Explain card chains more. Explain how getting new cards work and why. Add collect all treasures to loot screen. Consider closed menu pop ups to prevent confusion for voice over. Playing this game on Game Double Tap, on Youtube! Brilliant Roguelike!
