Archero 2 is a worthy successor to the game that essentially defined the mobile roguelike genre. It takes everything that worked in the original and turns it up to 11. The new 'Roguelike Experience 2.0' introduces skill rarity, which adds a much-needed layer of decision-making during runs—getting a 'Legendary' skill feels like a game-changer every time.
The combat is faster and feels more visceral, and the new PvP system with a 'best of three' format makes competitive play feel much more strategic and fair. I’m also a huge fan of the countdown survival mode; it’s a great change of pace from the standard room-clearing. With the inclusion of co-op modes, artifact sets, and a massive amount of content across dungeons like the Trial Tower, Archero 2 feels like a complete evolution that will keep fans busy for a very long time.
Roguelike 2.0 with unique skill rarities
Faster-paced combat and refined controls
New countdown survival and PvP modes
Deep dungeon system with massive rewards
Co-op Sanctuary mode for playing with friends
With the new rarity system, a 'Common' version of a great skill might be less effective than a 'Rare' version of a utility skill. Always evaluate the stat boosts provided by rarity before making your final selection.
In the new best-of-three format, use the first round to analyze your opponent's movement and skill choices. This allows you to counter-play in subsequent rounds, making for a much more tactical experience than the previous version.
The story follows a new-generation hero, as the original hero has fallen into a trap and become a leader of the dark forces.
I will give you two 2 paragraph summary about the game and why it’s good Archero 2 is an exceptional sequel that builds on the original’s addictive gameplay, offering an even more polished and expansive experience. The game keeps its core mechanics intact: players control a lone hero battling through waves of enemies while dodging attacks and leveling up abilities. What sets Archero 2 apart is its deeper strategic elements, with a wider range of hero upgrades, diverse skill sets, and more complex enemy types. The addition of a detailed progression system, customizable gear, and unique heroes allows players to experiment with different builds, making each run feel fresh and exciting. Another standout feature of Archero 2 is its vibrant world design and engaging combat mechanics. The game’s smooth controls, colorful art style, and fluid animations create an immersive experience that’s easy to dive into yet offers layers of depth to master. The difficulty curve is perfectly balanced, providing a challenge without being frustrating, and the variety of environments keeps the gameplay dynamic. Whether you’re grinding for better equipment or strategizing your next move, Archero 2 excels at delivering hours of thrilling, rewarding gameplay that keeps players coming back for more. That’s is why Archero 2 and Archero 1 is the greatest game ever created in the world
A great game overall. Archero 2 improves on the first game. Many of the reasons that I quit the first game have been fixed or improved. You still end up watching ads every now and then, but far fewer than in Archero 1 or other similar games. There’s a lot of variety of content and plenty to do without having to buy energy. The game is fun, looks good, and provides many paths to progress. My one major complaint is the pricing and need to pay to 100% complete events. I would not call this a “pay to win” game necessarily, but it’s bordering one. I admit I have not spent any money on Archero 2 myself, but mainly because the prices simply aren’t worth it. You get far less value from paid purchases than in similar games in my opinion. While all gear is possible to get without paying, you collect it MUCH slower. I do not feel like I’m missing out by not buying things in the game, but definitely cannot keep up with those who do. You cannot 100% complete timed events without buying extra event currency. There are multiple separate season passes you can buy for $15+ and they only last 30 days. The $30 daily gem pack only gives you enough for 2 extra chests a day. The only purchase that seems worth the value is the $10 lifetime ad-free pack. But again, I still have made a pretty powerful character without paying any money. Overall great other than the cash grabbing.
I’ve played the original arch hero for some time now and felt I was living under a rock and just put about 20 hours into Archhero 2. This game is unique because it does feel you can progress as a free to play player and they offer endless supplies for gems, passive hunts for xp and gear, and offer quite the diversity of gameplay with different events, challenges, even interacting with other players. Where I could see improvements (this is just my experience), it feels very RNG dependent. The attack upgrades for example seem to offer the smallest of damage increases where you’ll hit a legendary roll, a 4x damage increase, and the next wave you seem to be doing maybe 50-80 more damage per hit (which is nothing). The boss scaling is brutal in my experience as well. You’ll be in the fight for a while due to damage increases not scaling and put into an almost dark souls feel where it’ll take them 2 shots to kill you but you need to survive for 3-4 minutes through the fight till you kill them making it frustrating to advance in the game. I’d love to see a balance check to make damage boosts equivalent to the spirits, they seem to out damage a primary, jeweled up weapon everytime regardless of damage buffs. This is more in-depth and after extended play. It was hard putting 3 stars as I do enjoy the game but would love to see them slow down ironically.
When ARCHERO first started there were more ads but you got decent rewards for watching them. I don’t even know what type of game this is…it’s like 10 mini games, all with their own currency. It’s not just ARCHERO either. I’ve noticed a lot of games adding lots of tedious money consuming minigames. A battlepass in most games was about $10 and gave you lots of little bonuses. Now there’s 4 or 5 different types of “battlepasses” that all cost $10-$20 a pop. It’s like gaming companies gave up the actual game and all became gambling machines where you never accrue anything actually tangible. Some of these games are making $500k a year! It’s right in their stock prospectus. HERO WARS is a half billion dollar Russian gambling game disguised as an “rpg” where the whole goal of the game is to spend more money than everyone else so you can get the best heros, gear, spells/actions. Equipment, pets, relics, artifacts, summons, skins, and then put it all behind paywalls thousands of dollars high that you have <.oo1% chance of pulling from a chest. And you can’t actually have as much fun as the game could be, just because you can’t dump thousands into it. I dumped almost 30k into a game that totally took advantage of my addictive tendencies and showed me no loyalty or respect for it. I stopped ARCHERO when they got greedy and opened a new minigame every month for a year it seemed like
Archero 2 is one of the best mobile gaming experiences I’ve had in years. Players who regularly spend money will be significantly stronger than free-to-play players, but active participation in guild tasks and events makes character progression feel more feasible. With that said, there are some issues with the game that feel glaring: 1. Dragoon/Meteor Balance: Dragoon + Meteor builds have a clear dominance in PvP to where it feels mandatory to build; players with lower power and Dragoon + Meteor builds often defeat players with higher power and Oracle/Griffin builds. 2. Epic Character Star-Up Costs: Epic characters require large sums of shards compared to how difficult they are to acquire. The adjustment to Legendary character shards (i.e., requiring less to Star Up) was a great change; a similar adjustment to Epic characters would be amazing. 3. Godforge Requirements: The Godforge upgrade system is a welcome change, but the Godforge Core requirement—compared to how little we see the Island Treasure Hunt event—feels like a slap in the face to anyone who isn’t spending hundreds of dollars a month on the game. More frequent Island Treasure Hunt events, more methods to acquire Godforge Cores, and/or a reduction in the Godforge Core requirement would be appreciated.
I have played this game for nearly 2 months every day. I am above level 40 and here are my thoughts. The game can be fun. The abilities you can roll are good but as you get to higher levels you need more. For some time now I have felt a very steep difficulty curve that demands I replay levels 12 or more times to push through and beat it. Additionally the more I play the game f2p the more I feel them pushing for me to buy packs. Nothing describes this more than the current event featuring characters like Loki and Thor. In order to get the characters you must get 50 pices of that character. Each one for Thor, easily the strongest available in my opinion. You must get a low chance lucky pull at a minimum 1/100 due to a guaranteed token on reaching 100 without one. Keep in mind to do this pull you need a ticket. There are some daily tasks but it adds up to like 5 you can reasonably do. Other tasks require spending gems or opening crates. There is one free ticket daily and one gated behind an add. For an event that won’t be around for more than 2 weeks I could feasibly get 3-4 fragments of Thor. Probably 15 or so for Loki. The only feasable was I can see to get characters is to buy packs that have tickets. Hence I am disappointed. For me a game must earn my purchases. If I can feasibly get something I am more inclined to pay some to speed it up. However even with the moderate enjoyment I have had. The most character tokens I have gotten is about 17. I only have the default character. Play this if you want but it won’t get my money.
It’s Archero. If you like that, you’ll like this. It’s not a major change so just be aware it’s a new game because the original became bloated and new money tactics came about. The most obvious tactic change is 3 sets of S gear at release begging for more money. Not convinced? Non S gear cannot be advanced beyond legendary/yellow +3. S gear can get 4 additional bonuses going red then a dark red. Still not convinced? You should have at least two separate sets for PVE and PVP. Still not convinced? The +3 yellow will not take you very far. You will absolutely know you’re under powered and beg for good RNG. That won’t be enough because you’ll be one shot so you have to have S gear. Still not convinced? The premium currency you need to get S gear or the keys for it are sparse. Unless you spend just donating to your guild will leave you broke. Even spending, events don’t line up with S specific sets so you can’t get what you want, the meaningful set. I’m deep into one game and can’t escape without losing tons of money. This game will go with Sssnaker which is where they started dabbling in these tactics. I’ve spent a little and it’s not even noticeable, I feel bad for anyone trying F2P. If you’re F2P or a dolphin just know you will likely never achieve much. They’ve used other games to test things and this is the newest title to culminate all their findings.
I’ve been playing this game for a few weeks. I loved it…until today. I passed level 27 in the campaign. Went to start the next chapter and was stone walled by a message that said “Clear chapter 27, Clear sky tower 250”. Why would you tie progress in the campaign to something else? I know why, because you want to try and get people to pay to progress. I’m only at tower level 200. So now I have to get through 50 more levels in something I don’t care about to progress in the campaign? It’s nonsense. Some of this is not all directed to Archero, this is anger toward the entire “pay to play” versions of games we are all subjected to today. Charge me for a good game and let me progress. Have a trial so we can see what we’re getting. These games are absolute money pits. I’m not somebody that wants something for free, I understand these developers spend time and money to get these games to us but, I’ve spent 20 on this game so far and it just feels like the longest grind sometimes to pass one level. Which is why I’m upset at the fact you are tying progress to multiple things that have no connection. You said there are over 200 million players that have downloaded this game. If you charged 4.99, with the same number of player downloads, it would be almost a billion dollars in revenue…it just feels like greed at some point. Done with this game, enjoy my 20.
