Aerial Knight's Never Yield is more than just a runner; it’s a cultural experience. Set in a futuristic 'Tokyo-style' Detroit, the game tells the story of Wally, a mysterious character who has uncovered secrets that could change the city forever. The first thing you'll notice is the soundtrack—a 'dope-tastic' blend of Detroit jazz and hip-hop that drives the gameplay forward in a way few other games manage.
The gameplay itself is a 3D side-scrolling runner, but it emphasizes style and flow over simple obstacle avoidance. You can run, jump, slide, and dash, and as you get better, you can chain these moves into acrobatic combinations. The game is designed to be played in a single afternoon—about the length of an action movie—but the speedrunning potential and endless mode give it massive longevity. It’s a stylish, passionate project that highlights an overlooked culture while delivering top-tier arcade action.
Authentic Detroit-inspired soundtrack and art style
Engaging story mode with 'action movie' runtime
Complex acrobatic combination system
Endless mode and global speedrunning leaderboards
Controller support for precise movement
Timing is everything. Don't just spam the jump button; wait for the obstacles to glow to time your acrobatic variants perfectly. For the best score, try to dash immediately after a slide to maintain your momentum through the Detroit streets.
Navigate 3D environments from a side-scrolling perspective. Players must use four primary actions (Run, Jump, Slide, Dash) to bypass obstacles. The game features a Story Mode, an Endless Mode for reflex training, and Global Leaderboards for competitive speedrunning.
The story mode is designed to be completed in about an hour and a half on Normal difficulty, similar to the length of a feature film.
EDIT: Will this get the update like Switch and Steam got? I hope so! (OLD REVIEW) I bought this on Steam but I don’t really use my PC as much as I’d like, so I bought it again but for iOS. I *could’ve* bought for Switch but lately I’ve been enjoying my phone more, so I am glad this game has an iOS port. Graphics are nice, music is nice (the menu theme gets stuck in my head) and the art style is a nice anime-adjacent style. One crucial thing I ask for, is please add cloud saves or access to saves in the files app. I offloaded the game and it looks like my progress got wiped. I’m cool with playing it again. Cloud saves or access to saves via the Files app would be nice though. also, A+ for having a black protagonist. Can’t wait to post this review to my site and hopefully go more in depth!
I just recently got it for a plane ride as a quick little distraction and got quickly sucked into it! It kept me entertained for the whole 3.5 hrs. Very fun, and great if you just don’t want any annoying ads and just wanted to zone out and play the game. Great music, and greAt controls as well. I learned of it through a event in the dc art museum, showcasing indie games. I knew i wanted to get it from the second I saw it. Great game, and looking forwards to where you go next!
I like the controls so far. The gameplay seems smooth an pretty cool. The one complaint I have is that once I’m done with a level and I get the screen indicating that I could either replay or next, the game won’t allow me to choose any options and I have to close out of the app. Once this is resolved, I may be able to add another star and explore more of what the game has to offer. Good start so far though.
