Zombie Highway is Back!
+ minor improvements and bug fixes
Enjoyed and still occasionally play the original version, but V2 is even better of course. One major improvement besides the quality of the graphics is that you don't start each mission with the same exact stretch of road and atmospheric conditions. Plus, the terrain and weather changes often within each mission which eliminates a lot of the monotony from version one. Also, when you make a mistake and crash out your vehicle, you have the option to go back a few feet from your mistake and start the current mission again at the same distance instead of having to start completely over with each crash or rollover. Would definitely recommend this simple yet challenging game. UPDATE: March 2016 Still playing this game often. Daily challenges help keep things interesting. Some of the new weapons are very cool and very useful. Think bolt gun. But save it until later to knock out tough zombies with one bullet. Also, the last weapon on the list- the laser cannon I believe it's called- replenishes it's ability to fire lasers over time. So I generally use that first and sparingly so that when it runs out of power, I can use something else like the rail or bolt gun while the laser charges back up to 100% (or until I'm out of bullets and have to go back to it). Highly recommend this game. Still.
I don't normally write reviews, but this game deserves it. The only problems worth noting is that it's very difficult to drive without classic steering, however unlike other games the touchpad driving is out of this world amazing, way better than the tilt for almost any game! If you don't use the touchpad for driving on anything other than classic then it's gonna be hard. Some people complain about the ads but if you use rewind to watch an ad then you don't have to at the end, so use it wisely. I love how it rewards people who pay just enough to possibly make it worth it, yes you can buy the guns and cars and certain guns give special abilities when upgraded fully for everything and it costs a lot of gold, but you can farm gold by playing a lot or by playing the daily mission. Other game companies should try to make their games like this where you focus on making a great game and then adding in the ability to pay, not the other way around....
This is definitely a fun time waster and awesome improvement from the first Zombie Highway game. Controls are extremely smooth and the challenge and fun dynamic is balanced well. Also, for those that are stating its too hard to gain gold without having to buy it, I wholeheartedly disagree; I've amassed and spent well over 400 gold in a very short amount of time, and I earned all of it from just doing daily challenges and watching videos. I have not spent 1 penny on the game, and I already own the end-game weapon (bought for 300 gold), final vehicle (unlocked through challenges), and the bolt sidearm, earned with accumulated in game currency. LPT: Don't rewind after wrecking so you can have a higher rate of watching "Sponsor" videos for quick, extra gold.
It’s repetitive but doesn’t get stale easily and has fun challenges to keep you interested and motivated to keep trying to go further the generations of the roads have been so unique and random after driving 50 miles in this game I don’t think ive seen the same car wrecks one single time each road you challenge is as unique as a snowflake and the zombies are quite the fair enemies i do not feel like i died unfairly when i crash as i could have removed the undead before it got that bad but was trying to conserve weapons it is overall a great game that knows what its doing and how to do it well.
I still occasionally play the original Zombie Highway, which though has less varied vehicles, weapons, and scenery does have the advantage of being completely ad free. I highly recommend giving ZH2 a try. As others mentioned you can get gold by watching commercials. I have had many hours of fun without spending any real money. Personally I recommend fully upgrading all the weapons that provide enhancements whether or not the weapon itself is carried. The double barrel is the first such weapon; it provides a 5% damage bonus to all weapons and does not require gold to upgrade. Lower level fully upgraded weapons seem to perform better than base level more advanced ones. I was able to complete all the equipment unlock objectives. One tricky one was to kill 5 zombies in one second. I used a fully upgraded rail gun which has a 4 round magazine and timed running over a zombie to make 5. The extremely lethal one shot kill bolt gun might also work but would be harder due to the delay between implantation and detonation.
the game is extremely fun to play don’t get me wrong it’s one of the best apps on the appstore but there’s all that stupid “a word from our sponsors” which is so damned annoying and half the time it’s fast to close and re open the game then watch the stupid ad, the cash doubler only being able to recharge while NOT playing the game is also not very much of a smart choice since it encourages the player to stop playing for at LEAST 15 minutes so as to recharge just ONE bar, instead of doing this i feel that if it were to recharge whilst playing you could have people sticking with the game longer. Overall it’s still a very fun game, i’ve had it on three different devices and i’ve yet to get bored of it 🙂.
As a long time fan of the first one playing it constantly on my iPod then ,moving to my iPad I was so happy finding that they made a 2nd one that had more guns, the ability to go back and redo mistakes, and more stages instead of just a long narrow road with just cars and zombies like the first one but one thing that kinda bugs me but is not a huge deal is zombies in the beginning have the rare chance to be in cars and sometimes you can go through cars but besides those two things if they made a 3rd one then it would be a dream come true
Zombie Highway 2 is really the only game I own on my iPhone now. It's really fun, it keeps a lot of the same gameplay as the first one and it's FREE. Now most free games are pretty much "pay to have fun" but with this game you can sit down and play for however long as you want. There is an in game currency which the first Zombie Highway did not have and with most games I do not like in game currency but in this game it adds a sense of collecting and trying to earn as much cash as you can to get the next crazy weapon in the game. I really enjoy this game and would recommend it to anyone.
