Word Bridges is a refreshing take on the 'Connections' style of word puzzles that have dominated the casual gaming scene lately. The core loop involves identifying thematic links between seemingly disparate words, but the 'Bridge' mechanic adds a layer of spatial logic that requires you to think about how these groups intersect. It’s not just about what the words mean, but how they anchor the rest of the board.
The difficulty curve is impressively smooth. Early levels feel like a gentle brain massage, while later stages demand a deep dive into vocabulary and lateral thinking. The UI is clean, focusing entirely on the puzzle at hand without distracting clutter. If you're a fan of the NYT Games suite, this feels like a natural extension of that daily habit—perfect for a morning coffee break or a quick commute.
Daily logical challenges
Minimalist, zen-like UI
Vast library of themes
Progressive difficulty
Look for the most specific word on the board first. While a word like 'Green' could belong to many groups, a word like 'Emerald' is a much stronger anchor to help you identify the 'Gemstone' category quickly.
Words that belong to two different categories act as bridges. Clearing these first can often reveal the structure of the remaining groups, preventing you from getting stuck on red herrings.
Yes, you can use the 'Reveal' hint to show one correct connection if you find yourself stuck on a tricky board.
I love this game. It is fun and addictive. But I wish the levels were more challenging. I’ve played almost 250 levels and they’re all at “easy” or “medium” difficulty levels. I’d like more challenging levels mixed in. Also, I hate that paying for the removal of ads is so expensive for only a month’s worth of ad-free game play. I think $20 should be a lifetime (pay only once) subscription. Or keep the monthly plan, but reduce the cost to $5/month.
I do enjoy this game and find it a good challenge. You have to play for a couple of days to get the hang of how the designers think, but it does cause you to think in a different way about words. My only “complaint” is that the conclusions of the connected words into the one category go so fast that you don’t get a chance to see what the used words are. I think that inhibits learning because you don’t see what happened when you make the combination. That's minor, but I think slowing that action down would make the game more educational and rewarding.
1. The ads across the bottom block the names of the tiles. I just used 2 hints trying to add words since they placed that tile in the place where the add words was. Stupid configuration decision! It also impacts every time you add a function! DO YOU DO ANY USER TESTING????? 2. The in app option for support takes you to the website which does not appear to have any support options! The link on the App Store page goes to the same place so if you want/need support you are SCREWED! 3. Made with Unity Ads. Shame - it is one of this type of game that actually tells you what a grouping is after it has been combined. I’ll see if I’m still annoyed in a day or so and decide if I will delete it.
UPDATE: Looks like they added about 30 new levels. Appreciate it— this game is fun! There are some clear mistakes that are the result of the devs not fully knowing English. I enjoy the game anyway, but the levels repeat starting around level 62.
I really like these types of game app, but this one is extremely frustrating and takes too much time to play each level game. I understand having to watch ads on occasion when you pass a level. But this app requires watching ads each time to get extra hints, highlight full line categories, after each level is completed, and of all things to add the extra words needed to actually complete the levels. Therefore, I’ve decided to delete this game app and find a similar game that doesn’t require watching so many ads to just have fun.
This seemed easy at first but increased the difficulty each level up. But not impossible. I wish you could get more stacks without watching all the ads
I enjoy the game concept but getting frustrated. I have to watch ads just to get the extra cards needed to complete once I’ve finished all those on the board. These aren’t hints , these are necessary and should not require an ad each time. I usually play a level or 2 then quit because of the frustration. Games are for relaxation!
It is a really good game for passing time. However, it makes you watch a video for the words in the “bag” that are required to finish the puzzle on every single puzzle. I could pay $13 a month for the ad free experience but that is not in my budget so I will have to get rid of this app and find one that doesn’t require an entire advertisement just to complete every single level.
