Word Connect Association takes the standard word-search formula and adds a clever lateral thinking twist. Instead of just finding words in a grid, you have to find words that are logically associated with a central theme, but the connections aren't always obvious. For example, if the theme is 'Winter,' you might be looking for 'Hibernation' or 'Isolator.'
It’s a great exercise for the brain and feels much more educational than your average casual game. The UI is clean, and the daily rewards are generous enough that you never feel forced to buy 'hints.' Some of the associations are a bit of a stretch, but that’s part of the fun—learning how the game 'thinks' and expanding your own vocabulary in the process.
Unique association-based gameplay
Over 2000 handcrafted levels
Daily brain training challenges
Clean and minimalist design
If you are stuck, look at the length of the required word. Often, the association is a synonym or a related category rather than a direct object.
Many levels contain bonus words that aren't part of the main association. Finding these fills up your gem meter for free hints.
Currently, the game is available in English, Spanish, French, and German.
I’ve tried quite a few word association games and this is by far the best. I did pay to get rid of the ads but only after I had played a few sessions. I like the daily games which are a little more challenging, I also like the expert level that pops up now and then. Most importantly I’ve gotten to level 280 and so far all of the associations have made sense. Other games I’ve played had groupings that made absolutely no sense! One suggestion would be the ability to click on the word for a definition. I do spend a lot of time looking up unfamiliar words and even though I’ve learned a lot of new words, it would be nice to have the option.
I downloaded this game straight from an ad on another game app. The ad specifically claimed that this game was free and did not have any ads. Not only does it have ads, but it has more ads than any other game app I have ever played. And the ads break in several times during gameplay while you are trying to solve the puzzle. They are also the type of ads that automatically open up your browser and divert you to their websites. This makes the game the opposite of relaxing but instead it is completely frustrating. If you like to listen to music or an audiobook while working on the puzzles, you can forget about that as well. Even if you put your game settings to silent mode, it stops anything you are listening to in lieu of the advertisement pop ups. You then have to exit the game page to restart whatever you were listening to. Repeating this over and over every few minutes. The game itself is not fun or challenging enough to tolerate all of the ad interruptions and redirecting that is forced upon you.
I am addicted to this word game! It really makes my brain think, which I really need at 70 years old! I notice in many of these reviews, people complain about the ads. I wasn’t fond of them at the beginning, but I loved the game SO MUCH, that I paid for the no-ads version. Now I don’t get any ads at all! Well worth the cost to remove them!!
I’m skilled at word associations. I’m fluent in three languages and worked as an interpreter for the Deaf, which requires one to be highly skilled in English. These word associations are often off the wall. I keep having to use hints. In addition, the pieces are tough to move to another slot. You often have to try several times to slide one word to another slot. It’s also extremely frustrating that, once you finally solve a row of words, they collapse immediately into a picture, so you have no chance to study the association nor the words and how they linked together. I’m not sure I’ll continue with the game, although I adore word games.
I understand that games need advertisements but why do they have to be right in the middle of the game? Can’t you switch the ads to have them be in between levels? It’s really frustrating when someone like myself takes a while to finish a level and an add interrupts right in the middle…. Also, can you please add more categories not everyone is knowledgeable about what cities, countries, etc. there are.
Despite occasional errors in the groupings and difficult to group images, the game is fair. It’s biggest negative is that it’s bloated with continuous ads, some several minutes long and many ads that often freeze the game. When the game freezes during the daily challenge, and you force quit the game, you lose the challenge outright. Fix the bloatware ads and this could improve game play.
lol… for the little I got to play, I enjoyed the game. But thought it said no annoying ads…did I miss something? I don’t think I’ve come across a game with quite so many ads: at the end of a game, in the middle of a game, all very annoying and quite loud. I’m forced to delete it because it was so irritating that instead of relaxing me, my blood pressure was going up & up…and I’ll play a game to calm down.
I love this app. It's challenging & I learn at least 1 new word & it's meaning every day BUT now they have ads that pop up every 5 seconds & it takes up over half the screen. Which we need to play the game. I've tried to contact Support there is No way to do that. I'm not going to delete the app in hopes that support can see my review & take down these annoying ads. I'm very SERIOUS & I am not exaggerating about them popping up every 5 seconds. PLEASE GET RID OF THEM.
