Witchcraft! is a masterclass in how to port a tabletop experience to mobile. The tension is palpable from the first card draw. Unlike many card games that feel like simple math puzzles, Witchcraft! forces you into difficult moral and strategic dilemmas. Do you use a powerful spell to save the harvest now, knowing it might lead your best witch to the stake later? It’s a game of risk management and thematic depth.
The art style is phenomenal—Albert Monteys brings a whimsical yet dark aesthetic that fits the 'Wildegrens' setting perfectly. The UI is clean, making the complex mechanics of the original board game feel intuitive on a touch screen. If you enjoy solo strategy or dark fantasy themes, this is an absolute must-play. It’s challenging, rewarding, and offers high replayability through its different witch families and campaign scenarios.
Digital adaptation of the award-winning Salt and Pepper Games board game
Stunning illustrations by Albert Monteys
Deep solitaire strategy with hidden-role mechanics
Immersive Campaign Mode
Multiple witch families with unique abilities
Each witch has a unique ability. Use them sparingly to solve challenges without flipping their cards to the 'exposed' side, which limits their future utility and increases suspicion.
The game ends with a trial. Throughout the game, your successes and failures determine how the judges view you. Balancing power and secrecy is the only way to reach a favorable verdict.
No, Witchcraft! is specifically designed as a solo (solitaire) strategic experience.
So much fun! The tutorial makes it easy to start playing quickly, the campaign is awesome, and the app has a slick interface and runs perfectly. The developers absolutely nailed it!
It’s a lovely adaptation of the board game but I’ve been playing it quite a bit and have come across several really frustrating bugs that have killed my desire to keep playing. I used one of the Kent sisters to view the next three challenge cards and kept them as they were. I then used another Kent sister to change two of the currently out challenges for the two from the top of the deck and they weren’t the ones I had just viewed as the top cards. It ruined that run for me. In another game I was about to win without losing a single villager, but as soon as I finished the challenge that would have led to my victory, it didn’t let me give any conviction points to any of the jurors, it just immediately went to the jury phase, so I lost because they didn’t have enough when they would have had I been able to give them the points I earned. I was livid because I worked so hard for that achievement win.
I love the physical version of this game so I had to get the digital one. It’s an excellent implementation with some additions not available in the physical version like fun tutorial and a campaign. The only thing I’d like to see fixed is if you choose a witch with a power that lets you affect other missions, you can’t switch back and forth to see what those missions are. You just get a pop up with the mission names which you might not remember. Fix that and the game is perfect.
I really, really like this game. The premise is fun, the art appealing, the implementation jank-free, and the gameplay simple but challenging. Maybe a bit toooo challenging ;-) I've never played the original card game, so I don't know what that experience is like, but I gotta tell you, once the training wheels come off this thing is a bit hair-raising. I haven't won one normal game yet, even on Easy. But I persevere, because it's so fun that I don't find that off-putting.
Witchcraft! Is one of my favorite games, so I jumped on this. The developers did a great job packing the game into an easy to navigate app. Totally worth the few bucks.
Really great interface, graphics, and tutorial. Plays well and I haven’t ran into any issues or bugs.
I have the physical version and this app does a great job bringing it to the digital world. Also, I really enjoy the music.
Definitely worth learning how to play.
