Our Expert Score

78/100

Wasteland Life Survival Idle manages to strike a great balance between the 'always-on' nature of idle games and the thematic grit of a post-apocalyptic survival sim. You start with nothing but a small patch of dirt and slowly build up a thriving colony of survivors.

The progression feels meaningful—unlocking a water purifier or a scrap-metal forge feels like a major milestone. Unlike many idle games that feel like you're just watching numbers go up, the visual growth of your base is very rewarding. It’s a great 'side game' that you can check in on a few times a day to manage your resources and set new construction goals, perfect for fans of Fallout Shelter who want something a bit more streamlined.

The focus is primarily on building and management, though you will have to defend your camp from occasional wasteland raids.

Overall I really enjoy the game, but there are a few tweaks that I believe would make the experience a little better. Blue tape for instance, you need to go to Lone Ranch each time to get it, however there is only 1 chest there that supplies the blue tape, and there is only 1 tape per chest. While other items such as glue or rope will have multiple chests and you will receive multiple from each chest. This makes grinding for tape a little dreadful since it is used in multiple items you need. If you make it to where the chest would drop 2 instead this would help the playability of the game. Currently I need to grind the Lone Ranch 30 times in total to upgrade my axe and build a headlight. The other change I would look at is hay, it takes only 40 hay to craft 2 tarps but 100 to craft a seed. With each Lone Ranch run giving you about 40 hay unless you are lucky enough to spawn into the large map, which does not pop up as much, but it does yield about 100 hay. Other than some minor tweaks I really do enjoy the game and find myself playing it multiple times during the day to maintain all crafting, it can be a very passive game.

FarmVille Blueprint
Tue Aug 13 2024 dfgbtbhhhn

I’ve collected and collected the blueprint over and over again. I have the latest update of the game I even keep checking for more. I have seen a video where there is a open area behind the bedroom of the house that is beside the room with the chairs on fire which I put out but there is no way that I can get that part open. I have 13 people and I see the man in my wasteland that is quashed between appliances but there is a blueprint there. Just can’t get to it without welding mask because I have the other pieces to cut through just need the mask. I have the second level of water. I need level 5 on everything just to upgrade anymore. I’ve cleared all the level 8 items that you can get to also. I also have my tower completed but the other part of the map says must complete watch tower first and my tower is usable because of course it lets me use it. I’ll rate 3 star because I liked the game and then this comes about. I even paid for no ads. Fix this please. I’m not the only one with these issues. And I know you are sorry and I should have the latest update/version of the game which I have. And if all else fails delete and download the game again. Which probably also means I will have to watch the ads again or pay for them and start all over. And I know you see my problem and will try to fix this in the next update.

Task Not Updating & Magnifier Glass Issue
Mon Jul 15 2024 OriginalLesel

I was pleased with this game until I was assigned the task of retrieving a blueprint from Farmville. I went there and retrieved the blueprint but after completing the area and returning, my task did not update and the blueprint was not available for crafting. I’ve tried 9 times now to return to the same area but every time I return to Farmville it doesn’t let me access the same are that the blueprint is found. The only other way to advance is to find 1 more survivor and upgrade the water treatment plant however, I have to complete this task in order to accomplish this. Again… The task will not update after obtaining the blueprint. I contacted the developer and they said it would be resolved in the next update! I paid for no ads and they still cannot resolve this issue until the next update? I won’t be paying for anymore of their games. UPDATE: I was able reach the area where the blueprint is however, it took no less than 10-12 tries to reach it. I have obtained the blueprint in question 4 times (it’s also confirmed in the list of “resources found” before leaving the area) but the current task did not change and there are no new blueprints available for crafting. The Developer has still not addressed this issue even though I’ve contacted them 3 separate times.

I enjoy this game!

I really like this game for several reasons. It appeals to my sense of accomplishment by completing goals and clearing areas. I like the pace of it, I don't feel rushed like other games that say you'll lose characters if you don't attend to things quickly-this game doesn't do that and I can progress at my own pace. I also like that there are no battles and conquests and warriors and warrior levels to deal with-those type games are waaay too complicated and too time consuming. I like the characters and graphics. I have 2 suggestions that don't take away from like of the game. 1) I would like the abity to zoom out and see a whole area where I'm working, and 2) I would also like the option of turning off the goal prompts, to figure out on my own what to do next. It is absolutely worth it to pay to remove intrusive ads. Then you can watch ads to gain supplies quicker, but not required. 👍🏻👍🏻 Oh and another suggestion is to be able to choose your primary character. Have a selection. Again does not take away from the game at all. I like it as is. 🙂

Game improvement suggestion

It takes too many resources to build something. For example, instead of requiring 50 nuts to upgrade from vacuum 14 to 15, require only 5!!! At a minimum, add more queues to the workshop. There are 3 now, but 12 would be better. Another suggestion, use only ads that are shorter. Now, some of them run for a minute before giving me a “forward” arrow to move out of the ad. This forward arrow is like 1 pixel big. Make it either WAY bigger, like finger size, or tap anywhere on the screen to move forward. Then, I get another ad with a 13 second timer where I can’t move forward until 13 seconds are up, then I get Another 1 pixel forward button, then I get a 5 second timer before a 1 pixel “x” appears to get out of the ad. 1 pixel buttons are very hard to click on and it’s frustrating! This is a 5 star game with 1 star taken away for the amount of resources required to build something, and another star taken away for the amount and length and complexity of ads. I will be deleting this game from my iPad. I’ll check back in a few months to see if you fixed any of this.

Initially interesting and rapidly deteriorates to pay to progress

Interesting premise and reasonably fun gameplay. However, the way the resource requirements stack up with 20 of item A (gained by resource farming) required to make 1 of item B and 40 of item B required to make 3 of item C so you can upgrade tool A to the next level to be able to repeat the process in a similar fashion, you now have to farm 800 of this to make 1 of that, and it becomes egregiously draining to make any meaningful progress, with completion of the 2nd “home area” (Pinewood) fading to a distant pipe dream without paying quite a bit of real money to buy gems for privilege of buying your way to progress. I’ve invested a significant amount of time into this game and am now deleting it because it has become more frustrating and irritating that’s its worth. Add to that the overuse of ads and internal promotions, as well as other technical issues (e.g., forced ads stealing time from your power-ups when you just watched an add to get the power-up), and I’ve decided to delete this and stop squandering my time on something where the devs are clearly more interested in $$$ than creating a solid, fun game that keeps people engaged over the long term.

Fun but too many bugs

So, this game starts out fun but seems to go nowhere. I have been bouncing back and forth from upgrading my kitchen, to upgrading my water tower, then my dorms, then my tools, then back to the kitchen. It just keeps repeating. No new places to explore. Your player will get stuck a lot and you need to hit something once to get yourself to move again. It says upgrade the dorm to level 8, but have upgraded three so far it keeps wanting me to upgrade to 8, with other dorm levels you could upgrade one and be good. Sometimes your player will bug out when close to an object in front and back of him and he will swing and miss one side then move to other and hit the object, then swing back to the other side and miss and then swing back to the front and hit. Sometime you will be standing right next to an object and it won’t swing at all until you move the character the slightest bit then it recognizes that something is there. All of this could be overlooked if I felt like the game was still presenting new and fun things to explore or challenges that aren’t repetitive and make you grind out 1000 tires just to upgrade the water tower.

WAY TOO MANT ADS!!!
Tue Jul 16 2024 Tmoney84841

The game itself is decent and a little fun but it’s riddled with ads! I know every game has ads pretty much but this game takes it to the next level. Ads pop up randomly every couple minutes and it’s so annoying. You can watch an ad for temporary upgrades already or to shorten upgrade times which is fine and all so I don’t see why the forced ads every couple minutes is necessary. It absolutely ruins the game and makes the experience not worth it at all. And to top it all off, there’s ads at the bottom of the screen at all times as well. How many ads do you need!? Most other games aren’t this bad so why are you? Are you that desperate for ad revenue that you decided to just cram as many ads in the game as you can? It’s gonna hurt you in the long run because like me, people are gonna delete this game when they realize how ad crammed it is. I actually deleted the game because of it. It’s a shame too because the game itself is kinda fun but it’s not worth the constant ads. Huge disappointment and I hope you fix this unless you just don’t care about anything other than money then do your thing I guess but I’m never downloading one of your games again unless you change. TOO MANY ADS!!!
