Fixed a build problem with Zagor's Maze
Update: screen orientation issue fixed, rating raised :) Not quite perfect but very nice indeed. So far, so fun. I think it's distinct enough from Inkle's offerings, and I'm not going to complain about more entries in one of my favourite genres. Looks great on the larger iPad (but a minor issue, at the end). However, now that you have this game engine working, and played it safe by recycling yet again an ancient gamebook, how about using it for some new, original content? (and of course the same holds true for Inkle as well) I'd very much support that! With my wallet! One star docked for not auto sensing orientation... I understand that portrait mode is not an option since it changes the whole aspect ratio & layout, but come on, at least flip your game the right side up... many people use non-rotatable cases, how is that supposed to work? (Er, well... I had to fold over the cover completely and prop the whole thing up against something else on the table, awkward)
Back in the day with so few choices for solo roleplay, adventure books seemed like a way to experience an RPG when there was no D&D game happening. Today there are so many better solo options to scratch the RPG itch, so why play a trial and error adventure game with somewhat random combat? Nostalgia perhaps, but replaying the same adventure over and over trying to remember the right moves is exactly the downside of those adventure books that modern tech should be used to overcome, not enshrine. Game books were tiresome then, and now it is no different, except for the fact that there are so many way better game choices out there. Cool graphics cannot hide very mediocre gameplay. Time better spent elsewhere.
Update: Reported problem. Received very responsive email from Neil. Problem fixed and update sent in just one day. Great support. Update star ratings back to 5 for this supurb game. Game frashes going into maze. Sent report. Cleared all memory. No help. This is incredible game whe works. Started after update from yesterday, though i never reached this far before so dont know if that is cause. once fix il update this very special game to 5 stars. It is brilliant!
Look great but I haven't landed a hit yet. In this game you don't attack a space occupied by the opponent, instead you attack a space you think the opponent will go. Sound confusing? It is.
Was 5 stars, but your last patch broke Tap to Continue, so it does not work half the time. This makes the game unplayable, and, thus 1 Star. Fix the problem and don’t patch in additional problems, and the review will go back to 5 stars.
Tapping to continue fails occasionally...which means you cannot continue...which means the game is unplayable.
I would give this game 5 stars - but it crashes on load with iPad OS 13. Please update, or stop selling it!
Excellent game. Tin Man Games raised the bar with this one. They know story telling and this is a great adaptation of the original gamebook. The graphics—especially the way rooms fall into view—and the use of 'miniatures' is a nice touch without being gimmicky. Well done. Add auto rotation so I don't have to relearn right and left ;-) I understand the gripes about save points, but this gamebook implements them in a smart manner consistent with old-school game mechanics. Games used to have consequences. Complaining about having to replay a small portion of the game? I don't get that—you're playing a game!
