Our Expert Score

88/100

Voidpet Dungeon is a refreshing departure from the typical monster-collector formula, trading mindless grinding for a deeply strategic, turn-based roguelike experience. The game excels in its atmosphere; the 'Void' feels mysterious and melancholic, and the pet designs are abstract yet brimming with personality. Unlike the main Voidpet app which focuses on mental health tracking, Dungeon leans heavily into tactical combat. You have to carefully manage your 'Emotions' (the game's elemental system) to exploit enemy weaknesses, making every encounter feel like a high-stakes puzzle.

The progression loop is incredibly satisfying. As you delve deeper into the dungeon, the synergies you build between your Voidpets become the difference between a successful run and a crushing defeat. The art style is minimalist but polished, with fluid animations and a lo-fi soundtrack that keeps you in the zone. While the difficulty spike in the mid-game can be daunting for casual players, the depth of customization and the sheer variety of builds make it a must-play for fans of games like Slay the Spire or Pokémon. It's a cerebral, stylish, and emotionally resonant journey through the subconscious.

Great game with a slow pace

Voidpet Dungeon has gotten me to play every day for the past 2 months and I don’t really plan on stopping that habit. It’s a nice casual game to play that doesn’t take a lot of brain power until you reach a wall that takes a few days to overcome, which is great. I like that they gave emotions life and personality as the voidpets. The dialogue in the battles is a little corny but what dialogue isn’t in a mobile game. My only complaint would be that you really only have one thing to do a day once you’ve done your daily missions and battle pass, maybe an option to add friends and have clans would be cool, though that’s a very generic thing for games to have. I also love and hate the pricing for in game purchases - I love that they are high because it discourages me from purchasing anything, knowing that it probably wouldn’t be worth it to spend $15 for a single astral egg- of which I’ve opened 12 and had no luck. On the other hand I hate the pricing because it’s too high a price for me to pay for things that I will get for free with patience. In all, great game, and i’m happy to be a part of its journey and evolution. Additionally, I just found that there are hundreds of character icons, all of which are obtainable using gems. There is some really amazing artwork on these profile pictures, and I think it would be great if these were highlighted more, maybe with say “Avatar Eggs” or egg fragments that you get from the daily boss and the battle pass!

Voidpets isn’t a bad game; I’ve been playing for about two months made some decent progress. After about your first month you’ll a see a decline in things to do if you don’t choose the right way to manage your materials, items, or keys. If you’re smart you’ll keep up with the “tracks” that will keep you going in a good path; leveling multiple elements and items to where they should be at regarding your spot in story. What I don’t like is the lack of eggs because it does come down to whom you attained to put in your team I’ve tried my best to really create a solid team for most encounters however I don’t have much going for myself to deal strong builds; for reference the “petulant” event took me 4 days to do the one battle just to not get petulant itself I’ve waited two days to see if the new battle would come for another chance but there isn’t no chance for that I’ll have to wait till the daily gift to hopefully get a chance at that strong character which is such a disappointment I’ll be stuck soon enough given the team I’m able to create. If there were more to attain eggs I think people would have an easier time I mean let alone getting new characters you still have to ascend your characters too. If I had one thing to say to devs; make a pvp system three leagues at least or a journey road for pvp that gives separate rewards something that way people could see what other people do with their pets so it could be used to help themselves. I would really think the pvp side of things would help sooooo much with the current problems most people are having with eggs.

Great so far but

I’ll start with the problems. Events and bosses are very very boring and get real repetitive. There’s nothing that tells you when your doing a cutscene when your idly going through levels leaving it real easy to keep the paused cut scene running for several minutes before realizing. Theres nothing social about the game, no pvp, no friends, just a scoreboard. The animations are so boring some just move like a tail an inch, or maybe rotate a bit theres no motion to the creatures when attacking just infinitely frozen. And the worst part is, it’s the same music just the out of battle music, and normal music. No intense boss fight music, no event music, no audio for winning or losing, no button clicking, no noise when they attack making it feel so dead and not alive. On the same topic, theres no change in scenes, you do every battle in the same place, boss battles, event battles only thing that changes is the idle screen and talking about that it’s very very boring, just your small monster in the middle doing nothing no animation for “hey your getting idle rewards” Now don’t get me wrong, I love this game, it’s a great gacha system, love the creatures designs and concepts, love the powering system, and don’t get me started on the outfits they are so fun to dress up and in a potential pvp setting it would let you know what stats your going up against. My worry is due to the big part of the game, the battling, backgrounds, audio, boss fights, and animations being so lackluster it will be an easier game to drop and get bored of

In app purchases

The game so far is a 10/10 in my opinion other than how ridiculously expensive all the passes and resources are. It takes days, even weeks to get past the next boss if you don’t spend at least like $10 or $20 to evolve a pet. I’m still going to play the game but I’m not going to be purchasing anything else because the prices are just nuts. I’m saying this because it almost turned me away from the game but I gave it a chance and just regret spending like $100 on stones I could have gotten if I waited maybe 1-2 days. I think with the prices of the passes and resources will have a lot of players leave and you won’t maintain a steady active player base. If you cut the prices in half or 75% less, not only would I be buying all the passes, etc. But I guarantee that you’d be getting so many more in app purchases. I’d also add a real new player pack (same stuff but for like $15) & limited time packs for hitting certain milestones like reach stage 250, there’s a pack for 24 hours for $9.99 that’s like 10 mushrooms, 3-5 eggs and 1-2k gems. Bottom line is I like the game but I think if you don’t completely change the prices and add limited packs (I know the game is in the early stages but you need to add weekly events and stuff to keep us engaged also) that this game will inevitably fall off and become irrelevant :/

Great Game but Frustratingly Low Odds (as a Gacha player)
Sat Apr 04 2026 Creator Warrior

I’ve played every day for a year now, which says something. It’s fun and satisfying without demanding too much. I love the pets and especially earning their color variations and bonuses. However, the odds for any rolls in this game are atrocious. This is most glaringly apparent when a featured event is happening. You’re guaranteed only a slim number of eggs for the special event pet, around 5. And despite them being the rarest to obtain, they still have an 85% chance of hatching a common pet and only a 1% chance of the featured pet. I don’t mind spending money on gacha games, I do so regularly. But the cost of eggs in this game is totally unrealistic for the poor odds. It is never EVER worth it to buy eggs or the Growth Pass. And it’s a shame because if there were higher odds for things like the eggs and mushrooms, or lower cost, I would happily spend money on them. The devs are only hurting themselves here. I buy the season pass every month, which I absolutely recommend, but never anything else. It is not satisfying to spend money with such little chance of good return. Other gacha games do not have this bad of a balance, as someone who’s played countless Roblox, Hoyoverse, and Wuthering Waves, I just cannot rate this game higher with such abysmal value for the money. I want to give it five stars as someone with adhd who adores this game and has played it religiously for a year, but I simply can’t while this is an issue

Explainations & stuff to do
Mon Nov 10 2025 Curious Oddity

Like the game, simple but cute designs. I only really have two problems with it, one of which is only because of how technical I am. The first problem is that, while there are a few things to do, if you get stuck on a level and don’t have enough resources to level up (like I often do for evolution stones and void matter) there’s not really anything you can do other than keep rearranging your team in hopes of doing a little more damage. Basically throwing stuff at at brick wall and being able to do nothing for days until you’re able to level up enough to do enough damage to break through and hole the next wall isn’t infinite heals/shields. My second problem is with stats. I like knowing how things work and being able to see how it all comes together which is pretty annoying when the only description is something like, “increases the amount of health”. Like, increase on what base or how does type affect damage, does it double or half the damage depending if it’s strong/weak? Speaking of damage, how does attack work? Each creature has an “Attack” stat yet its abilities have their own range listed, like 42 for “Tendril Slap” but 60 for “Constricting Vines”. I would just like an option at least in the settings that explains how the stats, type interactions, and effects work numerically.

Constant game issues

Game makes no sense my anger and envy have no tank bypassing abilities but for some random reason the ones I’m fighting do and that’s just one example of it. How about we stay consistent on what the Voidpets are able to do instead of magically making the opposing ones do the same ability but with stronger effects. I’ve been having fun with the game but these small things are just ruining it for me. Also there’s practically no chance for ftp players to get the higher form Voidpets. Literally get one egg every few days with a 0.5% chance of getting it??? Or open 300 eggs when you get one every 2 or 3 days during a 30~ day event. Also do you need one specific pet leveled up to beat this one level well you’re going to have to wait 2 days to get the resources for that! And if that’s still not enough to beat it so you gotta level up another one wait another 2 days!!! Oh you finally beat the level? Well this next stage is going to need these Voidpet type advantages or else you just can’t win! Since all the opponent Voidpets have insane scaling! The enemy tanks somehow have insane hp defense and damage and the dealers do even more damage and are still somehow tanky while your dealers deal less damage while somehow getting one tapped by everything even if you fully build them!!! Aw are you missing a Voidpet that fulfills a specific element and role? Toooo baaad you’re just going to have to get lucky using the terrible odds involved with the eggs!!!

Missed potential

Genuinely had such high hopes for a game like this with a cute art style unique characters and seemingly fun gameplay however when actually playing the game I was met with a game that is heavily pay to win with a gacha system where the highest quality pull for only one chance is $15, frustrating wait times as every 5 levels that I have played so far has been a waiting game to allow the AFK chest to accumulate resources to use to beat the level — or you could spend money to bypass this chest system and get the materials, and extremely boring monotonous and repetitive tutorial with nothing else to do as the event only allows the player to win once every 24 hours. The characters are bland and forgettable as they only serve the purpose of dialogue with no spice to it, like a main cast consisting purely of NPCs you would find on the side. Coming into this game I would have loved to play it if it wasn’t just the core gameplay due to how unfair it can be at times as the enemies despite being the same as the creatures you collect are significantly stronger than what you have at the same level even going so far as to seemingly double their base HP, this showcases how unbalanced the actual battling system is. Once again I had such ridiculously high hopes for this game only to fall flat. I personally would not recommend this game but you could try it if you wish all that I ask is to refrain from purchasing the seriously scammy micro transactions built into the game.
