Our Expert Score

82/100

Vita Mahjong is a masterclass in accessible design, proving that 'casual' doesn't mean 'lacking quality.' While many Mahjong apps are cluttered with intrusive ads and tiny icons, Vita Mahjong is tailored specifically for a serene, high-visibility experience. The tile designs are crisp and large, making it a joy to play even on smaller screens without straining the eyes.

The game offers a massive variety of layouts, ranging from the traditional Turtle to more complex, imaginative shapes. I particularly enjoyed the daily challenge mode, which provides a structured reason to return every day. The 'Hint' and 'Undo' systems are generous, ensuring that the game remains a relaxing mental exercise rather than a frustrating roadblock. It is a polished, peaceful adaptation of a classic that respects the player's time and comfort.

I really enjoyed playing this game and played it a great deal every day. I was somewhere around the 3400 level when it loaded an app about signing up to earn daily cash outs for trying out apps. It would not let me out of the page or return me to the game, like it usually did for all of the other ads. Which I don’t understand why people who play this game, say that there aren’t any ads when there definitely are ads. They don’t last more than 30 seconds and so they aren’t too annoying. You have to view them to be able to move to the next level of the game. So as I mentioned, I was somewhere around the 3400 level, which meant I viewed almost 3400 of them for various games, products such as women’s under garments, toilet bowl cleaners and other household or personal products. I didn’t mind them as I enjoyed playing the games and knew because it was free, the developers needed a way to pay for it. However when I couldn’t move on from the earn cash app sign up and I didn’t want to participate, it left me no choice but to the delete app. It made me both mad and sad to lose all of my progress and even more so to not be able to play this game anymore!! If there is anyway that this can be fixed and all of my progress restored, I’d like nothing than to be able to continue playing the games. Please let me know if this can be done.

This is the Best Version!

My mom got me started on this, and it is so fun. It is so calming and relaxing. It says you’ll sleep better at night when you play this 20-30 minutes a day, and it’s not a lie. I have major insomnia and take medicine for it and am still struggling to fall asleep or get good quality sleep, and after a few months of this it’s actually made a significant improvement in my ability to fall asleep and get good rest not waking up exhausted. This is the ONLY thing that has changed during this time. It’s a fun challenging game to work your brain which was why I liked to play it and still why I enjoy playing it, but it’s claims to help with sleep and calm the mind is truly 100 percent accurate. It’s just an added bonus for this game. I like this version the best of them all because it’s easy to see all the cards and the colors aren’t a strain on my eyes (also have an astigmatism as well and wear contacts) and they’re calming. I enjoy the journeys a lot as well. It’s also super easy to get shuffles and hints. This is my absolute favorite game! I play it enough that I got the lifetime no adds for $4.99 and was worth it! I never purchasing things in apps but this game has been so enjoyable and helpful for my sleep was worth it. Highly recommend this game!

Candy Crush Ad and others are RIDICULOUS!
Wed Apr 02 2025 Dst1964

This is the second time I’ve updated my Monday comments because I just sat through a three minute ad so I could 4X my rewards but it got stuck and required that I do a survey of some sort! I couldn’t get out of it so I closed the app and now have lost my rewards! Stop this nonsense or I’m definitely switching to another app. I see that I’m not the only person having trouble with Candy Crush popping up during gameplay BUT I SEE THAT THE ONLY THING THAT YOU HAVE ADDRESSED IS TO APOLOGIZE FOR HAVING ADS. YOU IGNORED THE CANDY CRUSH PROBLEM JUST YESTERDAY! No other replies to all of THESE COMPLAINTS? Why? Are you fixing it? I doubt it or you would have said so. I love this game but the fact that I have to close the app just to get out of an ad is ridiculous. I love this game but this past week you’ve started randomly inserting Candy Crush ads IN THE MIDDLE OF MY GAMEPLAY! What’s up with that? I’m already putting up with the ads after each game but if this is going to continue I’ll play elsewhere. Please stop! It’s wrong and to be honest, I’ve never seen ads interrupt gameplay on any App Store game and I hope I don’t again because it’s easy to find another game to play. I’ll give you a five if this is addressed.

I have mede it to over level 2000 but

I was wondering if other people have the same problem as me. So i went to the reviews to look. How deceiving. It looks like all 5 stars, no 1 stars until you ask for the most critical. Oops. There are a bunch, just not shown in the graph. So my problem is every game is either worth 4 points or 8. And i. The middle of the game it says bonus points, finishes off my tiles and i have no control , i cant stop it from finishing then i only get 4 points, what the heck? Why is the game taking over, then not rewarding me as it says. This is the second time i downloaded this particular game. No ads is really quite funny after every game. Some of the ads say YOU WIN A REWARD, good luck on that. In fine print it says after completion of entering and you cant get the ad off the screen without closing the game completely then reopening a new session. A lot of the ads are for google wanting to download Chrome. Repetitively over and over I think it is time for me to find a new Mahjong game with different developers who dont double talk. When you say no ads that means what it says not, well to get rewards we have to do an ad. No means no. I dont pay so understand that is what pays your bills but i also believe in honesty. Your game isn’t honest play. And alot of your ads will lead people into trouble if they download the scams

Fun and relaxing

This games is fun. I wish you could pay for no ads. I might do that but there are problems. The auto match feature is just the absolute worst feature. It’s not helpful. Sometimes It match’s cards for you automatically because you are on a combo, but there have been times where it matches the wrong set of cards and makes the puzzle impossible to finish. For example what if you had 4 matching cards, one on the top layer and 3 on the bottom layer. But the top card is stacked on top of one of the bottom cards, so to solve the puzzle, you have to match the top card with one of the 2 available bottom cards. Otherwise if you match the 2 available bottom cards together instead, then you won’t be able to solve the puzzle because the top card is stacked on top of the remaining bottom card you are supposed to match it with. The auto match when you are getting combos sometimes matches the 2 bottom cards together, leaving the top stacked on the bottom. I want to solve the puzzle, not use the shuffle or anything. This has happened many times. And there are other situations like this, that is just the easiest to explain. Please remove that feature, or give us the option to disable it. It’s not helpful.

Deceptive

This game feels like a little red riding hood experience where an unsuspecting victim gets lured into competing to win at this game by being told how skilled you are when you progress toward a win. they used words my genius, unstoppable and other thesaurus terms yo entice you to keep competing with other player. Even when i did win by a huge lead the “prize” they give was minuscule at best and offering to get few extra buy watching a video advertiement so you’ve not won much. for all their talking on the manipulative road the end of game there is no award or reward to speak of. No recognition for job well done which clarifies it’s all a manipulation to get you to play more for nothing. why would a person spend time effort and essentially money to compete when getting nothing for it, The last straw was yesterday i opted to play and got way over 100 point lead. after being told 6/7 times that u was a “genius” the ein evaporated as soon as it was over along with my interest in playing after realizing that the game is a farce that plays on competitive emotions where there is no praise or recognition for a huge win nor a suitable prize. i highly doubt anyone has gotten this kind of lead before nor will they cause most don’t have the patience to play rhe many games in a row. the showed me the win for two seconds eith no recognition for such an incredible achievment.

Just curious

Can you please provide a link to the names and credentials of the neuroscientists that recommended seniors play this game? And, with so many 1 & 2 star ratings, how is it possible that your app has close to a 5 star rating? Edit: To the developers response: I would like to see the list of the neuroscientists that endorsed your particular app and not games in general. You advertised that neuroscientists recommended this particular app and, if they did, then surely there's a list of them that you can provide. As for the rating response...well...we all know how the 4+ star rating is maintained in the App Store. Anyone reading through the reviews can decipher how... Edit number 3: Just as I thought...not one single neuroscientist specifically recommended your app even though you claim that they did. If I am mistaken then prove me wrong and simply provide a list of the neuroscientists that recommended your specific app(which is Vita Mahjong For Seniors and not Solitaire by the way). Regarding this app's rating once again...it doesn't take long scrolling through the five star reviews before it becomes quite clear how this app, and many, many others in the Apple App Store, maintain 4+ star ratings. You'd think those giving shill reviews would chop it up a bit and not make it so obvious. It's a shame that Apple hasn't made it possible to include screenshots in the reviews of apps in their App Store. It's quite sad that the dishonesty in your claims and the extreme number of ads forced upon players have ruined what was potentially a wonderful gaming app.

Bring back the old design! This blows!

I have a PAID account. Why fix what ain’t broke? Ever since your “revamp” to the whole design of this game—aka, your tile bar at the top that, I guess, is supposed to make it easier by allowing the player to match tiles that are underneath or separated by other tiles (but really just creates an impossibly annoying situation where once you put a tile up there it is stuck there forever even if it was an accident or your hand slipped, and the only way to get it down is to watch an ad or use one of the previously 100 shuffles I had saved from before your revamp but am now down to 10!), and your insistence upon removing the “undo” button then adding it back but creating an ad wall where I am forced to watch ads every time I want just TWO undos—yeah, ever since the revamp, I’m watching ads CONSTANTLY just to get through a single game and I PAID for this game so I would not have to watch ads! And I NEVER usually purchase games for myself, but that’s how much I loved this game and can’t stand ads! So what the heck did I pay for? Sure, ads don’t pop up get levels anymore, but I can’t even bet through a whole level without watching multiple ads now because of these stupid new features. It also feels icky and dishonest when you tell people the ads we’re getting after paying for “no ads” is because they are voluntary for hints and help…yeah, right! You changed the game to make it impossible to get through without help! I’ve been playing this game a long time— long enough to know that. You purposely made the game impossible to get through without clicking on an ad even for people who paid.
