MINOR IMPROVEMENTS
We made a few adjustments to create a smoother and nicer gameplay experience.
Unsolved: Hidden Mystery Games is the ultimate treasure trove for fans of the Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure (HOPA) genre. Developed by the masters at Artifex Mundi, this app serves as a portal to multiple high-quality series like Enigmatis and Grim Legends. The value proposition here is insane; instead of buying dozen different apps, you get a massive collection of mystery stories all under one roof.
The production value is top-notch, featuring beautiful hand-painted scenes, professional voice acting, and compelling narratives that range from gothic horror to supernatural detective work. The gameplay loop of finding items, solving mini-games, and progressing the story is incredibly polished. While it uses a 'Premium Pass' and energy system, the sheer amount of content available for free through regular play is impressive. It’s easily the best hidden object experience on the App Store.

Always zoom in on scenes to find smaller, obscure objects. Use your journal to keep track of clues and codes for puzzle mini-games.
Choose from dozens of different game worlds. Each has its own characters, setting, and unique puzzles to solve.
Yes, you can access and play through full story arcs from several famous Artifex Mundi series within the app.
When I first downloaded this game on my iPad, over a year ago, I was excited because it was similar to one I really enjoyed on my Switch, but every time I tried to play it, I couldn’t. The game would prompt me to download content and then there was the spinning circle forever. I tried several times to just leave it alone for hours to keep trying to download, with no success. I recently got frustrated with the games I’d been playing and decided to try this one again. Either our internet is better, or the game has been updated, or both, but it works great now. There is such a wide variety of cases, and within each case, there is a wide variety of challenges. Some of them are easy, some challenging, and some confusing, which is a great mix. You get plenty of hints to help you out when you get stuck, and can watch ads to get additional hints if/when you need them. Energy regenerates slowly, which is my only complaint, though watching ads will give you more energy, and allow you to use less energy for an hour. Currently, I’m using running out of energy as a prompt to get off my tablet, lol, but there are options to use gems, which you can earn at a reasonable rate. I haven’t yet felt a need to purchase gems for extra energy or hints, but I haven’t ruled it out. I do want to support the developers because it’s such a well designed game, so I don’t mind clicking on the ads.
This is probably my favorite app on the whole AppStore right now! I really appreciate the thought, detail, and quality that went into this, including the music. Even the visuals get more detailed as you go along into the more recent stories. I started out playing Enigmatis: Mists of Ravenwood and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I continued onto the next one, Shadow of Karkhala. Apparently though, these are only the second and third stories in the series, the first one is only available on Steam. So obviously it would make more sense to play that beforehand, but for me, I was still able to enjoy it, it’s just that I could tell I was missing some context and background and such. Although, according to some reviews left by fans (without spoiling) the twist in the second book is easily predicted if you’ve played the first game already, so there is that. From my perspective, the twist wasn’t as predictable, but I still sort of expected it so it’s not like playing the first game beforehand would be ruining some masterful and unforeseen outcome. Anyway, since I loved the Enigmatis series so much, I thought I would lend my suggestion to make different stories but with the same main character that we see in it because I did get kind of attached, ahah I just figured it would be cool to see her solve more cases in the future! And see more of Rick and maybe Fang as well.
It’s a great game plenty of mystery’s and challenges that aren’t impossible to figure out but they’re hard enough to take some time with. Along with that, you get free hints after a certain amount of time if you get completely stuck on a part. The part I have an issue with is the energy. Every action you make consumes 5 energy everything from opening doors, picking up items, using said items, etc. everything requires energy so you get around 5-15 minutes of play time before you’re out of energy and have to either watch ads for more, pay for more, or just flat out wait. Overall you get little play time before you have to wait several hours for your energy to be full to actually play a little bit. You could add a small fee to pay to have infinite amount of energy which in my opinion would be worth it since other then the energy is a great game. You could also just add mini games to earn energy or even just reduce the time it takes to get energy and possibly reduce the amount of energy it takes to do every action from five to one or even two that way you still have plenty of time to play but you don’t have an overflowing amount of it to the point that you can just finish the whole mystery in 1 sitting. But as stated before it’s a great game the experience is fun it has an interesting story along with giving you plot details as you go through it, the energy is the only complaint I have for the whole game.
I love this game so much I’m on my third storyline in it. It’s just the right amount of difficult without feeling impossible, and while I don’t necessarily feel attached to the storylines, they are well thought out. My only two complaints are: 1-the hints aren’t very useful, unless you’re already looking in the right area. There’s a lot of travel in the game, so you could have half a dozen areas unlocked but if you feel stuck and try to use a hint, if you aren’t already in the right area for the next move then the only hint you’ll get is to “go back”. I wish that the hint would continue on screen until you get to the correct area and it’s actually able to highlight where you should be looking 2-you can only play for short bursts of time. Every action uses 5 energy, it takes 5 minutes to regain 1 energy, and the maximum amount you can accumulate without purchasing extra is 300, so a single I-Spy mini game can deplete a good chunk of your entire energy for the day in a matter of seconds—especially the ones where you have to put things together in order to “spy” more of the items. You can purchase energy, but the price point feels steep for how long it lasts. You can purchase $120 gems for $5, and 100 gems will get you 300 energy, but like I said if you’re making good progress in the game you could deplete all of that in under ten minutes. No shame to the developers, maybe I’m just not the correct target audience for this game, just sharing my experience for others!
I’m a very big fanatic of mystery games or escape room games because they’re pretty engaging and as for someone that gets bored easily, these get pretty interesting. There are downsides to this game which aren’t really a make it or break it deal, but given how quickly the energy runs out and I literally spent $50 JUST TODAY on gems to buy energy and hints is crazy. (1) The hints get used FAST. Why? Because if you are in a different location, one hint will tell you to go back or go to a different spot. If you are far from where you need to be, you can use 7-8 hints just to point you in the right direction. I wish using one hint will keep prompting you until you get to where you need to be. (2) Energy gets wasted so quickly. I could be wrong but it feels like every time you click something you lose 1 energy. Which again, goes very quickly. (3) There are sooooo many different episodes/series to choose from. It is very diverse and each one are different from each other based on their story lines. (4) There should be an option to save your data in order to sync your progress across devices. Whether that be through facebook or apple or whatever, I don’t like opening up my iPad and being 4-5 episodes behind in progress compared to my phone or having to purchase more gems/energy/hints for my gameplay on a different device. Although, despite how expensive this can get, it really is your choice. This app doesn’t require any purchases at all to play it and for that, IT’S A GREAT GAME.
Each move takes a lot of energy. Even with the buff from ads. There’s no extra way to really earn more gems. They need to lower the cost of moves or give more energy. Unless you want to pay real money. I love the game but running out of energy in five minutes is ridiculous. Then you have to wait hours. Response to developers: I decided to officially time it. At 12:47pm I had 300 energy. I watched the ad for less energy used. At 1:17pm I was out of energy. During this time frame I walked away to get my door dash and dispense it to my kids. I was also eating while playing.I also watched the ads to get the extra 20… there should be more ways to get extra energy or give more than 20. Those 20 didn’t even let me finish the search for items quest and I only got one item wrong. I had 34m left on my actions cost 20% less. Another day. More to add.. it takes a ridiculous amount of time to get to 300 energy. And that energy once again was gone in 25m with watching the ad to reduce usage. So I maintain my statement on you guys need to figure out a way to let us earn more gems. I shouldn’t have to pay to play if I want to play for more than 25 minutes straight. I have to wait hours just to get 100 energy to make 5 minutes worth of moves. It’s a great game. But frustrating that I can’t earn more energy beyond 20 every hour. I’d gladly watch more ads, I even have no problem paying and often do but to have to pay everyday.. hard no. I’ve already found another game. That isn’t a straight cash grab.
This game is amazing! You can tell the pride and passion that you guys have. Everything from the graphics to the storyline and more.. it is truly one of the best games that I have downloaded in MANY YEARS!! I have become completely addicted.. I seriously cannot put this game down. Until I’m forced to, which is quite frequently. My only major complaint seems to be the same as many others who have download it as well. First off I am in agreement with them. I completely understand the need to control how much someone can play at a time. after all you spent countless hours on every little detail. I also understand the reason to offer to charge people to be able to play more often if they so wished. however, when you only get 20 minutes of gameplay for 300 energy bolts. I believe that’s a bit much. It seems like every little thing takes 3 to 5 energy bolts to use or pick up. However, when it’s trying to recharge I only get one bolt per 4 1/2 minutes. I was playing one of the mini games of hidden objects. Before I started the game I had 264 energy bolts and after I played the game I had 220 energy bolts. My suggestion would be to not charge us energy when we’re playing one of the mini games or puzzles. this way that gives us a little bit more energy to move around and do other things out in the game. I see that the developers have had this issue for at least a year with this game. They have responded other people saying that they are looking into the issue. I just have to wonder how much longer we have to deal with it before we actually see a change. I hope not long because I love it too much!
I really want to love this game. But I just can’t because the amount of time you get to play before you burn through all your energy is so excruciatingly short that the longest I’ve ever played at one sitting was a mere 15 minutes. At that point you are given the option of watching an ad for additional energy. However, that energy can last anywhere from a few seconds to about a minute and a half depending on the game. And some of these ads are several minutes long and require your “participation” in order to progress. The gameplay itself is actually great. The puzzles are not super challenging, but still fun and the graphics and stories are actually excellent. In one story you enter a nightmare around, which is extremely well done. This makes it all the more frustrating that you really can’t play it for more than a few minutes at a time. There are offers to pay for additional energy, but what you are really paying for is so confusing that I’m reluctant to buy any of their offers because it feels like it may only give me a few gameplay. I would pay money to play this game with no ads and unlimited energy— it’s that good. But the offer to purchase gems or the option to accumulate a certain number of gems over a week?? it’s way too confusing. I’ve been playing games like this for years and I’ve never come across a game where the options to pay to play was this difficult to understand.
