Cult Mystery, an original Haiku Classic game, is now available in Adventure Escape Mysteries! Detective Kate gets worried when Melissa disappears. Is Melissa really on an amazing trip with her new boyfriend, or is something more sinister going on? Help Kate uncover the truth!
Adventure Escape Mysteries is the gold standard for mobile escape-room games. Instead of a single standalone app, it serves as a portal to multiple high-quality episodic mysteries ranging from supernatural thrillers to historical investigations. Each story features Detective Kate Gray or other charismatic leads, giving the puzzles a narrative weight that many competitors lack. The writing is surprisingly sharp, and the logic puzzles are among the best I've encountered on the platform.
The game strikes a perfect balance between challenge and accessibility. Most puzzles can be solved with a bit of lateral thinking, but the hint system is there if you’re truly stumped. The visuals are crisp and thematic, and the transition between finding objects and solving mechanical puzzles is seamless. Because it’s free-to-play with a fair 'key' system for unlocking chapters, it provides a massive amount of content without forcing a purchase. If you love room-escape games, this is an essential installation.
Large library of mystery stories
Challenging logic puzzles
Free-to-play chapter system
Compelling character-driven plots
Daily rewards and hints
Collect every item you see; even a small scrap of paper might be the key to a later safe combination. Check your inventory often to see how items might interact with the environment.
Many levels feature code-breaking puzzles. Look at the surrounding environment for visual hints like colors, numbers, or symbols that correspond to the lock mechanism.
The game is free to play. You earn 'Stars' and 'Keys' over time which can be used to unlock new chapters and get hints.
Update: it’s now been almost a year since I first started playing these, and I am STILL just as obsessed. I’ve even played most of them over again. I am consistently impressed by the talent and effort that goes into such fun games!!!! ❤️ After discovering these games about a week and a half ago, I’m absolutely obsessed. I’ve played nearly all of them and was thrilled to find more single games available for download!!! The stories are captivating and unpredictable and the characters are loveable (I want Murphy and Kate to get together!!) The animation is stunning and every scene is visually fascinating with incredible attention to detail. Every new puzzle I open is thrilling and I never get bored of them. They’re all masterfully made! Often while playing I think of the hours that must have been dedicated to creating this game and WOW, it pays off and is evident. The literal ONLY thing that is frustrating is that you have to wait a certain period of time to get “keys” necessary to unlock levels. But unlike many games, it’s a reasonable amount of time, and you can watch some ads to speed it up! When I play casually, I never run out of keys. Only when I’ve been playing a TON of levels back to back have I run out quickly. The levels are long though, so it’s absolutely reasonable. And I suppose it forces me to take a break though :D anyways, just a stellar job all around. thank you, thank you to the teams behind this game!
Haiku games are some of the only escape games in the App Store worth playing. Compelling stories, user friendly, fun puzzles and interaction, and aesthetically pleasing. I’ve been a long time fan. Despite that, I’ve never left a review. I’m leaving a review now because I think it’s important to advocate for a product I enjoy, as well as contextualize this new game format. I know it’s received a lot of (I believe) unfair criticism. Normally I take issue with app models that require you to wait to play, but Haiku escape games are so high quality that I can’t really begrudge them. Most escape games in the App Store are depressingly low quality. Haiku games are the exception and take time, energy and skill to produce and we are lucky enough to play them FOR FREE. Most games like this would require payment upon purchase. Each chapter is long enough that I think that so long as the ads only play after COMPLETING the chapter I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the producers to use this model. This is a quality product that the game designers deserve to be compensated for. A potential solution might be a pricier in-app purchase that gives unlimited keys, or however many keys are needed to complete a story without needing to purchase more. That way users who take issue with the new format can buy out a story and play freely, but game producers are still compensated fairly.
I have played many of these escape games only to get a few levels before you have to pay to play the whole game and the cost was always a ridiculous amount. This developer not only doesn’t charge to play but they don’t even have ads that pop up every time you complete a task. They have multiple scenarios to choose from and every one has a great story or plot. The only ads I’ve noticed is when you are out of stars to open next level, you can watch some ads to speed up timer that will give you the star quicker. I’ve already played 2 different scenarios and I’m hooked. On Some puzzles you have to really think outside the box and may take a while to solve. I haven’t found any flaws yet and don’t think I will. The developers have done an absolute STELLAR job with the app and I’m not sure why this game isn’t promoted more on other game ads. I know I can only give 5 stars but if I could, I would definitely give 10. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Keep up the great work and I would love to see more games from these developers.
I’ve been playing your games for many many years way before there were any keys or stuff like that. So it’s a little disappointing but I get it but now you have keys primarily because it kills the storyline and some of the older stories you had to remember things from past chapters in order to solve that chapters puzzle. But like I said I get it. Could you please make it so you can have more than two keys at a time even on other games like candy crush you get 4 “lives.” Also I have noticed that I am always able to connect to the Internet to buy stuff but not to watch the free videos to speed up time. It keeps saying no Internet connection. Also what’s the timer for refilling the ability to be able to speed up time for free. Mine never seems to refill. Idk if that’s a glitch. Other than that cool new stories, I really like the incorporation of star charts and translating symbols. And I would love to see more optimistic story endings/ or if they have a sad ending for them to say to be continued so there is some hope. I loved the scary story concept but the ending was frustrating. It needed that assertive optimism like in the cop stories. Also at the end it would be great to see what would have happened if you made the other choices with storyline structure and characters. Also I like the incorporation of instructions in the “?” Bubble. Keep it up!
I only like escape room games. And Adventure Escape mysteries encompasses everything I look for: the point and click, interesting story, amazing illustrations, mini games/puzzles, challenging enough. Though I have played and beat all of them, they have gotten a lot easier for me. My only complaint is that I wish they were longer and there needs to be way more games by this developer. I finished Psychic Squad last night and was very impressed (especially since the protagonist has my name lol). The story was very interesting. I was explaining the story to my boyfriend and he was intrigued. Even mentioned how it would make an interesting movie. They can be a little cheesy, but who doesn’t love cheese? Lol. I have been looking all over for other escape room games like this, and I have found a few decent ones, but AE definitely set the bar high. And it’s free! Just get it. You won’t be disappointed. Just make sure you download this one first because some of the stories in this one are available to download in the App Store.
I don’t normally write reviews even for games I cannot stand. I downloaded this game because of the reviews given. Why I say don’t waste your time… you are not given enough information to complete a task. The levels listed as beginner are still crazy hard to figure out without buying clues. You are left wondering what to do. Clicking on anything and everything to figure it out. Some things if you sit and think about it are easy, but most things until explained in a clue you are left dumb founded and stuck. You have to BUY the stars. You are only awarded stars when you complete a level or find a hidden one. But because too many times in a chapter you are left… what now you cannot continue. As a beginner you should have a few entry level games that gives you plenty of clues until you figure out how you, the developers are thinking. And can move on to less clues. Your explanations are pitiful. I would be satisfied with at least having to watch a video to get stars. You can do that with keys but not stars. And stars are what you need to get clues. You are forced to BUY THEM! The graphics are great, but not worth any money. Before you know it you will have spent 100 and nothing to show for it.
I’ve been playing adventure escape games for years and there is really nothing quite like them available in the App Store. The quality in the content and the graphics puts their games well above any mobile games I have played, and when I look for other games to fill the time between AE releases I am always disappointed. Even the model they used to introduce ads and the keys to unlock chapters was done very fairly. Almost every other mobile game I have played has near constant ads and AE does not. Also, I kind of like that the key system prevents me from playing through the whole game super quickly. I enjoy the games so much and they do take time to produce so I can appreciate slowing down and enjoying each one a little longer. I don’t usually write reviews but I feel like some of the other reviewers have been really unfair. Haiku puts out really good games, with very few ads, that can be played entirely for free. I’m not sure how anyone could ask for more.
So I found this game via an ad from a puzzle game (I think it was one of those can’t quite remember) the game sparked my interest like actually sparked it, instead ugh seen this ad 1000 times guess I’ll try it out. To my surprise this game is a treasure trove I love puzzle games and it has a lot and the developers are adding as I type! The only con I see isn’t actually that bad and is something Idm. So first to get into any of the story’s you must watch an ad after the first one you began (assuming it’s not just for the first game you actually start) and you use keys to access the content. but unlike other game makers like big fish you can just watch it and get into it without paying for anything! not to mention if you run out of keys it’s just a 2 hour wait! Or 4 or more ads to get a free key 2 mins seems amazing don’t ya think! Other then that I can’t think of more to add if anything I suggest you try it. If it hits you like it did me then great enjoy! If not then you only wasted abit of time.
