• Ugly is coming soon!
• Bug fixes and improvements
Ugly is a psychological masterpiece hidden within a stunningly dark 2D puzzle platformer. Using a unique 'mirror' mechanic, you create a reflection of yourself that can pass through walls and interact with objects your physical body cannot. The gameplay is a constant dance of swapping places with your shadow to navigate a twisted, dreamlike world. It’s one of the most innovative uses of spatial puzzles I’ve seen on mobile in years.
Beyond the mechanics, the narrative of Ugly is haunting. It’s a wordless story told through environmental clues and 'aha!' moments that delve into the character's fractured psyche. The art style is brooding and beautiful, reminiscent of hand-drawn animation with a macabre twist. Each boss encounter is a puzzle in itself, forcing you to use your mirror in ways you hadn't considered. It’s a dark, emotional, and deeply rewarding journey that proves mobile games can be high art.
Innovative mirror-swap mechanic
Beautiful hand-drawn art style
Deep, psychological narrative
Challenging environmental puzzles
Remember that you can swap places with your reflection while it's in mid-air. This is crucial for reaching high ledges or crossing pits that your physical self cannot jump over.
Cast a mirror line vertically or horizontally to create a ghost version of yourself that mimics your moves on the other side of the glass.
Ugly focuses primarily on puzzles and platforming. While there are bosses, they are 'puzzle bosses' that require logic to defeat rather than fast-reflex combat.
I like it much, it is so addictive to solve the puzzles. If you like similar games like Little Nightmares, Ugly is way more better to entertain you. It doesn’t have any achievements!? I see the titles but don’t sync with !?
The art in this is fantastic, and the mechanism is great. The puzzle levels are really clever, engaging, and fun to solve. All top-notch. But then there are the bosses, which are tremendously un-fun and totally out of sync with the rest of the game. They require extremely fast fingers to get past, which I don’t have. So I’d love to play the rest of it, but after about 100 tries to get past the pink goo monster, I concede that I can’t progress and won’t be finishing it. The ability to skip those would be fantastic.
i like games like these, not too challenging and so far the story is pretty good
It’s an ugly game ❤️❤️
You can solve a puzzle but if you don’t make jumps juuust right, no dice. What a lame way to make a puzzle game “challenging.”
