Our Expert Score

92/100

Settlement Survival is a stunningly complex and rewarding city-builder that feels like a full PC experience ported perfectly to mobile. It doesn't hold your hand; instead, it offers a deep simulation where every decision—from where to place your first gatherer's hut to how you manage the local water supply—has long-term consequences. The level of detail in the supply chains is immense, requiring you to think several steps ahead to survive the harsh winters.

The UI is surprisingly clean for a game with this many menus, making it easy to manage your population's happiness, health, and education. The game shines in its 'Development Trees,' allowing you to specialize your settlement in trade, agriculture, or industry. It’s a challenging, meditative experience that rewards patience and planning. For fans of games like Banished or Anno, this is an absolute must-play on mobile.

Fun but has a lot of bugs on mobile

This game definitely scratches the itch for a great town builder game. However I would like to provide some feedback to the developers: 1 - The interface does not fit on the iPad Mini (Latest Gen). The interface also has problems with pinch zoom and rotate gestures, along with being unable to bring up tooltips reliably. 2 - Certain port-to-mobile aspects were overlooked, such as “Press F to change style” text on houses. My iPad does not have an “F” key. 3 - Certain bugs are interesting, such as when placing a Forester’s Hut, the simulation of cut trees does not disappear unless you toggle the “Tree View” button off and on with a different building. It’s definitely incomplete and has unique frustrating parts of the mobile version, but I’m very hopeful the developers will work hard to eliminate the bugs. Would be 5 stars.

My honest review.

I loved the pc iteration when it released a few years ago. I’ve probably clocked like 150 hours or so developing my settlements in sandbox mode. Unfortunately, commitments to my work and other circumstances have piled to my “reasons I cannot game more than 7 hours a week anymore.” Because of this, I have been particularly stingy with my gaming time. Interestingly, my interest in mobile gaming has increased, due to accessibility and ease of weaving gaming time throughout my day. When I came across the app on the store it was an instant buy for me because of the memories I had no lifing settlement survival on PC for a whole week, regardless of its technical performance, I had faith. Barring one particular painful crash, I had a wonderful experience so far. I’ve developed my settlement with my prior experience bolstering my enthusiasm whenever I had the chance. Granted, I’m using the newest hardware so that could factor into my experience. Being on mobile has really been great for a player like me who values mobile titles for my quick gaming fix. The game is missing features, suitably considering it being the mobile counterpart to a pc game, but it is enough for me to get enjoyment out of it.

The closest to banished on App Store

For YEARS I have been searching for something close to the incredible town building game Banished and this is it with more! An upgradeble skill tree on top of upgrading your city gives me goals to work towards while deciding what to place where. It’s great! I have had some tech issues that hopefully be fixed and we need a save now button. I can not find how to save progress and I lost an hour of progress on a random crash. Great overall game 4/5 for now.

Please care for this game

Devs, I know you know about the frequent crashes bugs. Why have you not fixed it yet? It’s been almost two years since last update. It runs perfect in the beginning, then when you reach around 400 population it just crashes randomly out of nowhere. This game is amazing I just wish the devs cared about it and fixed the bugs

Glitchy

This game started out great for the first 10 minutes but shortly after my first attempt in playing, the game would no linger let me click on anything. Attempting to build a dirt road, I clicked on the different path options. Once I clicked on the tunnel option to see what the description was, it would not let me click on anything else and kept showing the tunnel pop up no matter where I clicked. This is quite frustrating, considering I paid money to play this glitchy game that stopped working after 10 minutes. I’d like my money back.

LOVED IT UNTIL IT CRASHED

I really thought I found my building a village from the ground up type mobile games. Finally found one that wasn’t a cheesy farming type idle game. I was so excited when I began to play it because it is very rare for a diamond like this to exist in the dirt of the mobile game world. HOWEVER!…. I couldn’t go 10 to 15 minutes without it crashing every single time, no matter how I tweaked with the settings. And this is the latest iPhone and iOS version of apple so it must be on the developmental side of the game. Shame 😔

Not worth the money(

Idea is nice, some features are great, the mechanics are wide. Unfortunately, the interface is too simple. not very user friendly and has a lot of bugs. Moreover, the game needs to save my progress every 10 minutes and I usually have bugs with interface during this period, which makes me restarting the app losing some of my progress. That is extremely annoying(

Glitchy and not impressive at all

This game glitched within 5 minutes on the second step of the tutorial and I couldn’t do anything. Tried multiple times to start again. I have the latest iPad Pro so it is not a hardware issue. Controls are clunky, graphics are basic. I expected more from a game that I had to pay $5 to buy. Deleted it and I will ask for a refund from App Store. Seems like it might be a good concept for a game but need to fix stability issues.
