Various bug fixes & optimizations.
So first things first the newest update to the game is amazing it lets you get rare epic and legendary items way easier than before with a free daily chest new items more cash flow I love it and I’m not one who can afford to spend real money on the game (I watch a lot of ads to get certain things) but I love it and the fact I have that option. My only problem is when doing a daily or weekly challenge I can have the EXACT same outfit hair top bottoms shoes both fully upgraded everything the same and yet there is still a winner and a loser in that time it should be a tie or something i don’t know and it bothers me more when I’m the one to lose (as I’m sure it would anyone) so that’s my only problem other than that I really love the game and play literally everyday like all day it’s bad… 😂 so thank you to the creators for my new obsession and everything y’all have done and fixed it’s been wonderful keep up the good work 😊 So update they fixed the problem I had!!! Now you can have the same outfit but if one of you has more superstars that’s who wins and I think that was genius and I love it now if only I could buy makeup and it count towards my points but none the less I love the game maybe even more now . Also to all the ones that say you can’t get 1st without spending money it took a lot of work and game play but I got 1st in the Raja event without spending a dime I was so excited! So it is possible just takes work 💖💖💖
I love this game! It’s fun, outfit selection is awesome and it doesn’t force you into ads like most mobile games do that alone would give it five stars. It gives you the option for incentives only. It’s fun with the additional gifts through pop up events too. That being said here goes the negative. Like others said it’s too hard to get lipstick, once you get to the highest of the rare level items for upgrading it is nearly impossible to save 30K rudollas without spending real money. Which would cost you $49 to upgrade ONE item which is ridiculous. I think it would be cool if there was an option if you could trade in clothing/shoes/wigs that you don’t use for a little bit of lipstick. When you are gifted uncommon items you already spent probably around 2500 on with purchasing it three times then upgrades and get a duplicate of it and are only gifted 25 it’s really lame too. It’s still fairly new so I hope more changes are coming. It can be semi glitchy at times but they seem to be aware of that and have done multiple bug updates for the app. All in all, it’s really fun. It’s possible to win a bracket without spending real money I have (she’s a winner baby) but you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time do so.
There are lots of fun aspects to this game, though it’s rather confusing at first. There’s several elements to it, and learning how they tie together has a learning curve. The mini and maxi challenges, buying outfits and all of that is really fun. The werkroom is a drag. It’s a lot of clicking and grabbing “werk” and XP, but not a lot of strategy. So far the biggest thing I’ve learned it that it’s possible to advance to the maxi challenge at the end of the episode without completing all the tasks, including leveling up the pit crew who do the “werk” (a 2 second animation where they wave stuff around by each of the stations)—makeup, padding, wigs, shoes, singing, sewing, reading, etc. The more time and “lipstick” you spend leveling them up, the more you screw yourself in the next episode. Because you’ll just be asked to power some random other crew member and it won’t make any sense why, when their counterpart (they werk in pairs) is probably at a lower level than the one the game is asking you to level up. And the higher their level, the more it costs. It’s confusing and I still have no idea if this is simply random, or if there’s a logic in this somewhere. I tried to play the game without spending $$ but so far I’ve already spent over $75. Obviously most of the people doing well in the game are spending some bank on it. I think I’ll finish out the Mo Heart season and quit.
I think the gameplay is good, but it gets redundant in these fashion challenges (the same process over and over again) which is cool in itself. There’s not much else but just fashion challengers. So if you’re into action and discovery this is not the game for you. The thing that’s keeping me playing is honestly the fashion choices which YOU have to pay for using your RUBUCKS mainly so if you’re not invested in entering these weekly/daily challenges, it may be difficult to expand your closet. However, It’s great for those that do want to expand in their creativity and/or for those that do not have the ability to do so. I loveeee that this app doesn’t just pop up ads at random times, nor does it EVEN pop up at all. I like that you do get prizes and incentives for playing the game. It will require some time and effort to expand in this game. The main problem I would say is that if you want to upgrade your items, it can get really expensive. not only do we need to purchase the clothing item piece again, but we need to upgrade it using additional rubucks to increase your score for these fashion challenges. So it’s always 500+ rubucks for upgrades and can even go higher than 15k bucks. Sometimes, the pieces get uglier too when you do upgrade them. I believe that they should have the option to choose between the different versions.
I would love to be able to put more of my own personality & creativity into the gameplay. You are limited in your choices of outfits and upgrades and the challenges basically end up forcing you to use the same high level items all the time, even if you hate them. I think this was the intention of the addition of Toot & Boot but you still have a very limited choice of items to buy with those points. I would love a way to go into my wardrobe & buy items that I actually want/need (with Ruedollars or Toot & Boot points). It would also be cool to add jewelry/bags/sunglasses and the ability to layer items. I might have a beautiful dress I’d love to add a chunky necklace and jacket and bag to but I can’t. The other frustrating issue I’ve encountered is during challenges when I use higher level items based on the challenge tag requirements and then I look at the outfit on the system generated challenger and they consistently are wearing lower level items than what I’ve chosen, but I lose. After I lose, I go back and switch to the same outfit items as the system generated challenger, most of the time at a higher level, and I still lose the next challenge attempt. The system generated outfits on the challenger don’t change from level to level but their scores increase with each level. If you are going to make me acquire items I don’t like and do challenges with those items, at least make it fair.
Let me just say I have been waiting for this game since Dragopolis (only the real OG’s know), and I love this game. But this game is a huge grind fest. This, like most “freemium” style games have you do a lot of grinding to progress, which is fine, but there no real payoff for the grind. There’s a lot of potential here that should be expanded upon in the future. Like for example, mini games that get unlocked after a certain amount of xp has been made at the workstations. Like a DDR style mini game at the choreography workstation after you get 100 XP. Things like that that add replay ability to the game. I understand at it’s core, this is a fashion game. All the maxi challenges are fashion based, but there has to be some versatility in the gameplay. But there’s got to be something else that can be added to have more stakes in this game. For example, the maxi challenge is an acting challenge, so you have to play a memory style game for your character to either pass, or fail. Then you move onto the runway presentation. A lip sync for your life style mini game can be played if your performance in the maxi challenge wasn’t good. This is where the mini games played at the workstations come in handy. Overall I feel like this is a great game, but it really needs some improvements made to it for it to last.
The best: you absolutely don’t have to pay a dime to advance and have fun in this game. Very few adults are willing to put real money into buying fake currency so I appreciate that this game knows their audience and created it to be playable to even its most casual players. The only items one should expect to pay for is special event items, though some can still be won through events. Room for improvement: in complete honesty I only found this game because I was looking for dress up games. There’s a dress up element to it in that the player must collect and compete in special items for events and competitions, but there’s no room for creativity which I think is what originally makes RPDR so fun as a franchise. Player is extremely limited in what we can wear- body suits cannot be layered with bottoms, all outfits come pre-coordinated and pre-accessorized. I feel this takes away not only from the artistic choices of the player but also limits playing points for competition. I would personally love to see more options for layering clothing, getting to pick our own accessories, and more an option to purchase makeup looks without having to compete- like using crystals to pay. TLDR it’s an engaging game to play without investing in, but there’s much less creative choice than it would seem which can make it boring.
I think this game is decent but the lipsticks are too rare and difficult to obtain by any means other than spending money. Without them, you can’t get a whole lot done and there are virtually no ways to earn them by playing the game aside from 2-5 at a time here and there when completing tasks that take hours (you need hundreds to thousands of them the longer you play). The only other way to obtain them in bunches of 25 is by watching ads (riveting gameplay design eh?). Other than that, they cost money. There is no gameplay designed around obtaining lipsticks other than watching ads or purchasing them. Developers, please consider adding lipsticks in bunches of 25 as a reward from daily or weekly challenges or through some other means of actual GAMEPLAY. Watching ads and swiping credit cards hardly constitute a game and your greed shows immediately upon downloading the game. People will still pay money for quicker progress, outfits, cards, gems, and rudollars. There is no reason for lipsticks to be gated so intensely and the way it’s currently designed makes the game stale almost immediately. I’ll definitely update my review to 5 stars if this is ever balanced correctly in the future. I do love the RuPaul’s drag race brand and I hope to see this game succeed long term with some minor balancing changes.
