Our Expert Score

80/100

RuPaul's Drag Race Superstar is a love letter to the show. It captures the frantic energy of the workroom and the high-stakes glamour of the main stage perfectly. The core loop of upgrading your workstation to earn 'werk' is standard idle fare, but the real draw is the dress-up and runway competitions. The sheer variety of clothing pieces—all based on actual drag aesthetics—is impressive.

The game does a great job of incorporating the show's humor and 'drag-speak,' making it feel authentic. The weekly and daily challenges keep the competitive spirit alive, allowing you to show off your styling skills against other players. If you're a fan of the franchise, seeing your avatar walk the runway in a look you curated is incredibly satisfying. It’s a stylish, funny, and surprisingly deep management game.

10/10 Only one problem

So first things first the newest update to the game is amazing it lets you get rare epic and legendary items way easier than before with a free daily chest new items more cash flow I love it and I’m not one who can afford to spend real money on the game (I watch a lot of ads to get certain things) but I love it and the fact I have that option. My only problem is when doing a daily or weekly challenge I can have the EXACT same outfit hair top bottoms shoes both fully upgraded everything the same and yet there is still a winner and a loser in that time it should be a tie or something i don’t know and it bothers me more when I’m the one to lose (as I’m sure it would anyone) so that’s my only problem other than that I really love the game and play literally everyday like all day it’s bad… 😂 so thank you to the creators for my new obsession and everything y’all have done and fixed it’s been wonderful keep up the good work 😊 So update they fixed the problem I had!!! Now you can have the same outfit but if one of you has more superstars that’s who wins and I think that was genius and I love it now if only I could buy makeup and it count towards my points but none the less I love the game maybe even more now . Also to all the ones that say you can’t get 1st without spending money it took a lot of work and game play but I got 1st in the Raja event without spending a dime I was so excited! So it is possible just takes work 💖💖💖

Fun game, but has some problems
Wed Dec 22 2021 eb8675309

I’ve only been playing a few days. So far I really enjoy the game. It’s a lot of fun. I feel I’ve been progressing well, but there a a few issues I’ve noticed that are frustrating and detract from the game. The scoring system for when you compete in challenges is super wonky. You have to assemble an outfit that meets certain criteria, and each piece scores points based on which category it is in. I’ve discovered that the scores you earn fluctuate. I’ve had an outfit identical to an opponent that beat me, then gone up against a different person wearing the same outfit I had when I was beaten and the other player won. It’s frustrating and you feel cheated, especially since the score isn’t represented in a quantifiable way as in a number score, just with a score bar and little symbols that fly onto it so fast there’s no way to actually count them. The next thing I’ve experienced is an actual glitch in the accumulation of “werk” and XP points that you collect to progress. A lot of the XP I generate just disappears when I click to collect it. The issue I had with collecting werk was during a special event. My progress bar was out of control. It was losing and gaining werk and zeroing out. I feel like I actually should have gotten much further in the event but the werk my stations were doing was not registered. IDK….crazy! Anyway, I figure these things are just growing pains and will be fixed. At the end of the day the game is really fun and I recommend it. Wow… that was long

Hard to play without spending $$$

There are lots of fun aspects to this game, though it’s rather confusing at first. There’s several elements to it, and learning how they tie together has a learning curve. The mini and maxi challenges, buying outfits and all of that is really fun. The werkroom is a drag. It’s a lot of clicking and grabbing “werk” and XP, but not a lot of strategy. So far the biggest thing I’ve learned it that it’s possible to advance to the maxi challenge at the end of the episode without completing all the tasks, including leveling up the pit crew who do the “werk” (a 2 second animation where they wave stuff around by each of the stations)—makeup, padding, wigs, shoes, singing, sewing, reading, etc. The more time and “lipstick” you spend leveling them up, the more you screw yourself in the next episode. Because you’ll just be asked to power some random other crew member and it won’t make any sense why, when their counterpart (they werk in pairs) is probably at a lower level than the one the game is asking you to level up. And the higher their level, the more it costs. It’s confusing and I still have no idea if this is simply random, or if there’s a logic in this somewhere. I tried to play the game without spending $$ but so far I’ve already spent over $75. Obviously most of the people doing well in the game are spending some bank on it. I think I’ll finish out the Mo Heart season and quit.

Ads crash game & point system is inconsistent
Thu Feb 03 2022 PurpleBeastMode

The game is fun when you can actually play it. Ads are basically required to make any significant progress but more often than not, the ad bugs out and crashes the game so you don’t get the reward. Sometimes the ad will finish and it seems fine but still doesn’t give the reward. The points assigned to your outfits when you are dueling changes between rounds when the outfit is exactly the same. The biggest complaint I have at the moment is actually that when I am up against someone with the exact same outfit, I always lose by like 10-20 points. Why? The game needs to be more transparent about how it calculates the scores and should have a result for when there is a tie. Ever heard of a Double Shantay?? The events are fun but it also seems like the game purposefully doesn’t give you those higher level pit crew cards to pressure you to spend money on their offers which makes the game SUPER PAY TO WIN. The offers are also not worth it at all. If you are good at resisting the urge to spend money on mobile games, this game is prob fine for you but man it just pushes in-game purchases more than any mobile game I have ever played. At least it only has optional ads and not the ones that pop up in the middle of what you are doing. Game also doesn’t reward actually cool looking outfits cuz it prioritizes getting the required tags so an outfit that looks like a total boot will beat one that actually matches the challenge. Kinda lame but whatever.

Good, but…

Stop forcing me to click the promos. It’s so often, and it’s not going to make me buy it. I feel less inclined to purchase promos the more I’m forced to click it. I know they’re there, if I decide I’m interested I know what to do. - And you can enjoy the app and go through stages without spending money (you won’t win the top prize or get the queen on the one-day events, but the queens will return on a different challenge eventually). There is a strategy, but sometimes the “quests” seem random, disconnected and unintuitive. I have a lot of success because I watch the ads—in this game they are completely optional and they come with perks, and I usually multitask while on the app so I don’t mind it. It’s a great way to collect biscuits and double your coins, which can help automate the workstations quicker. However, the app has gotten stuck and won’t play more than a few times which made me lose out on doubling my rewards, or the workstation wheel gets stuck and won’t collect unless you restart. - If you’re patient, you can win enough rare pieces through daily chests to completely level up an outfit without buying the pieces through the store. Another great find is that you can sometimes buy other player’s outfits with gems! See someone wearing something you like? Click the magnifying glass icon or their pfp. - Also, I’ve noticed that the developer responses are not canned and they really seem to read these (please stop forcing me to click the promos!) and that’s so great. It’s terrible that it’s not the norm across other apps, but makes me like the app even more.

Fun and addictive, albeit one major flaw that kind of ruins the experience.

This game is great for how simple and straightforward it is. It’s not too much or too little. Watching the ad’s get’s a bit redundant after awhile…but that’s to be expected as is with most games in the App Store that are f2p. BUT…one thing really dampens the experience and that is the rating system.I have noticed that during competitions, my opponent can have the EXACT STYLE (upgrades and combinations) that either I have, or even an outfit that (according to the way the points are given specifically for each competition) is either slightly or sometimes significantly lower in value but somehow, the opponent wins. It’s frustrating bc this is obviously a tactic that’s sole purpose is to get you to spend money on diamonds (which might I add, I have spent around $50)…And the fact that it’s so transparent the further along you get in the game just feels cheap and sort of degrading for lack of a better term. I think this needs to be fixed in order for it to be a fair and fun game long-term. Perhaps making the makeup factor into the rating system more or at least make more accessible outfits so you don’t end up with opponents who have very similar or exact duplicate ensembles. Honestly, given what this game is in representation of…with Drag Race being such an iconic, groundbreaking and respected culture and entertainment powerhouse,You think a little bit more consideration and professionalism will go into creating an app that bares the brand’s name 🙄💁🏻‍♂️

Good game but...

I think the gameplay is good, but it gets redundant in these fashion challenges (the same process over and over again) which is cool in itself. There’s not much else but just fashion challengers. So if you’re into action and discovery this is not the game for you. The thing that’s keeping me playing is honestly the fashion choices which YOU have to pay for using your RUBUCKS mainly so if you’re not invested in entering these weekly/daily challenges, it may be difficult to expand your closet. However, It’s great for those that do want to expand in their creativity and/or for those that do not have the ability to do so. I loveeee that this app doesn’t just pop up ads at random times, nor does it EVEN pop up at all. I like that you do get prizes and incentives for playing the game. It will require some time and effort to expand in this game. The main problem I would say is that if you want to upgrade your items, it can get really expensive. not only do we need to purchase the clothing item piece again, but we need to upgrade it using additional rubucks to increase your score for these fashion challenges. So it’s always 500+ rubucks for upgrades and can even go higher than 15k bucks. Sometimes, the pieces get uglier too when you do upgrade them. I believe that they should have the option to choose between the different versions.

Getting Bored

I would love to be able to put more of my own personality & creativity into the gameplay. You are limited in your choices of outfits and upgrades and the challenges basically end up forcing you to use the same high level items all the time, even if you hate them. I think this was the intention of the addition of Toot & Boot but you still have a very limited choice of items to buy with those points. I would love a way to go into my wardrobe & buy items that I actually want/need (with Ruedollars or Toot & Boot points). It would also be cool to add jewelry/bags/sunglasses and the ability to layer items. I might have a beautiful dress I’d love to add a chunky necklace and jacket and bag to but I can’t. The other frustrating issue I’ve encountered is during challenges when I use higher level items based on the challenge tag requirements and then I look at the outfit on the system generated challenger and they consistently are wearing lower level items than what I’ve chosen, but I lose. After I lose, I go back and switch to the same outfit items as the system generated challenger, most of the time at a higher level, and I still lose the next challenge attempt. The system generated outfits on the challenger don’t change from level to level but their scores increase with each level. If you are going to make me acquire items I don’t like and do challenges with those items, at least make it fair.
