Pocket Hockey Stars is a high-octane throwback to the golden age of arcade sports titles. It captures the frantic, simplified fun of 'Ice Hockey' on the NES or 'Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey.' The 3v3 format is perfect for mobile—it keeps the rink uncluttered and the action constant. The Perfect One-Timer

To pull off a one-timer, pass the puck to a teammate near the goal and hold the 'Shoot' button before the puck reaches them. Releasing it exactly as the puck connects will unleash a high-speed shot that the goalie will struggle to track.

Use the 'Body Check' button wisely. While it's the best way to steal the puck, doing it too often can lead to a penalty or leave your defense out of position if you miss. Time your checks when the opponent is along the boards for maximum effectiveness.

Good but very buggy

It’s a very fun game and I love the concept of it. It’s not pay to win, you can win without having the best players, but it’s frustrating when the gap between teams is so significant that it then feels like pay to win. It seems to be a small studio because this game constantly crashes and I do not get wins recorded or rewards even after the game seems to register. I think the upside of this game is huge, but right now there are some growing pains associated with this game. I do love it and will continue to play it but it is frustrating

This game is very good, I haven’t seen a hockey game this fun since SuperstarHockey. I really enjoy the mechanics and the online play. The controls were very intuitive for me to learn and they are very fun when done successfully. I think the game could really benefit from a few updates. The first being better more ‘addictive’ quests. The quests are a great start but lack a true ‘goal’ besides play the game. Having more overarching goals or making the milestones more desirable could help with this. Second I love the update to practice matches but I wish there was a way to just practice offensive pushes so that learning the puck aiming mechanic was easier through repetition. Lastly the most recent event for the SHL was so much fun and I would LOVE for there to be more events like this continuously. Even if it was just a leaderboard you need to climb that rewards your placement. I am coming to this game as an avid player of SuperstarHockey and the events in that game are incredibly addictive and almost always ongoing so picking up the game and playing for a week through the event is very satisfying and rewarding. Overall this game is very well made and has amazing potential if the developers continue on the path they are on.

The game is great I know it’s still fairly new. The skill needed to play this game is great and I love that you can play with friends. The two BIG things that this game needs is the ability to customize button size and where you want them on the screen. And for free play, the ability to choose number of periods and the length would be amazing. Now some cool additions would be new arenas (new goal lights and horns, etc.), maybe some light or screen effects. I’m sure there is more things you can add to make this game better. But overall great game and I know things will get better in future updates.

Bricked my phone

This is probably a virus. Upon opening this game I was asked for permission for sending notifications. Like any other normal human, I clicked no, but they want to act as if I disgraced the game, not making the permission pop up go away, no matter what I did. Turned off my phone and turned it back on, pop up still there, haunting me. Then I proceed to attempt to shut it down, which doesn’t work as I need to slide to power off, which I can’t do because I can’t interact with my screen. Which leads me to ask Siri, who asks me for my password, which I also clearly cannot put in, which leads me to my final option, force shutdown my phone. I had to turn on my computer and search for a tutorial just for my phone to be normal again. Please, if you want your phone to be virus-free, delete this virus app and report it to Apple.

I have had so much fun playing this game

The game play is some of the most fun I’ve had on a mobile game and the idea is even better. However there are a ton of glitches and bugs that led to me getting stuck an infinite error message loop. I also feel there are way too many forced ads for a game that is constantly shoving in-app purchases in your face. That being said the game is very promising and I can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making it. I can’t wait to see what the devs have in store for the future.

Update. A lot of the upgrades have been great. Issue now is the game is VERY GLITCHY. Buttons get stuck and can’t move players. Crashes a lot. Keep the updates coming. I want to live this game. This game was so much fun in the beginning. Then came an update. I do t know what happened but the matchmaking is a complete abomination. My players are 5’s and 6’s which makes the team around an 23. In constantly playing teams in the 40’s. All the players are 10+ and 2-3 are legends. It’s just not fun losing 5-0, 7-0. One out of 7or 8 games is a win and it all luck. Some of these guys score from the red line. SMH Another issue is it never takes less than 35 seconds to find a match. Way too long. Finally the checking. While fun I find that the better teams (which seems to be all I play against) can check instantly while I need to hold the button for a full second or more to build the meter and hope my timing is spot on. I can’t knock out a goalie but mine is knocked out after 1 or 2 saves. This needs an update quickly or the delete button will see another day.

This is a really nice game! I like the characters, their abilities, and the game features and mechanisms overall. This is my new favorite game, but as the title states, there’s 1 issue that I’m bothered by. You know how every time the teams get the puck at about the same time they fight? Every time the fighting feature happens, I lag at the start. Maybe improve your system optimization so I don’t lag every time I fight. But overall, I really like this game! (No, I’m not asking for you to lower the graphics, just fix the lag please)

It’s a fun game to play the only the main issue is it causes my phone to get hot quickly. another problem is right after a game, I’d get a bunch of error messages (not all games). The current problem is right after an update, none of the buttons work, the game only turns on. All in all, would be a great game if they didn’t have these problems. The over heating has been getting better, I used to be able to play 2 games before I had to stop, now it’s still kinda uncomfortably warm after a couple games. So, 3 big problems, minus 3 stars. Definitely room for improvement.
