85/100

Phase 10 on mobile is a surprisingly robust adaptation of the classic Mattel card game. As a long-time fan of the physical version, I was worried the digital transition might lose that 'rummy-style' tension, but the developers nailed the pacing. The journey mode is the standout feature here, providing a sense of progression through themed maps that you just don't get sitting around a kitchen table.

The multiplayer is snappy and the matchmaking feels fair, usually pitting you against players of similar skill levels. I particularly enjoy the daily challenges that force you to play with specific constraints, keeping the 10-phase formula from feeling repetitive. The visuals are clean, and the animations for completing a phase are just satisfying enough to keep you coming back for 'one more round.' It’s the perfect blend of luck and strategy for a quick break or a long commute.

Frustrating instead of FUN
Tue Feb 04 2025 April250

I have been playing this game since it first came out! And I kid you not I was hooked and loved it!! However, it got to a point where it seems like you can’t win games unless you make purchases for wildcards or more green lightening bolts in order to help you. That was the first red flag! The second red flag is why even have gold coins if they don’t purchase anything of value such as green lightning bolts to play more games!? third red flag is that in this game other than gold coins you acquire diamonds which can purchase green lightning bolts, but it takes you FOREVER to acquire the diamonds and when you reach 50 diamonds, you only get five lightning bolts (ONE TURN!!) Seems like the makers of this game have one purpose only in mind and that is for you to get hooked and get you to a point to where the only way you can really keep moving forward is if you spend money. The THIRD RED FLAG is when you finally DO use your diamonds for ONE round of lightening bolts you lose to the computer almost INSTANTLY!! I took a break from this game for over a year! Came back on today and saw that nothing has changed! For all of you Card game lovers or Phase 10 game lovers out there, I highly do not recommend this app! You get to a point where you cannot beat the computer and you’re constantly pressed with purchasing packages. Nothing has changed and they don’t post the reviews that call them out!! HUGE THUMBS DOWN!!! 👎🏼

Very good game, only a few small issues
Tue Feb 03 2026 idkijsneededauser

To start, I love this game so much!! I play it every second I get (16 hrs a week according to my screen time). However, there are a few **small** gripes I have, that would make the game so much better. Firstly, I have an ipad and enjoy playing on it, but sometimes I'll let an ad play and get on my phone (forgetting I'm already playing), and open Phase10 there. When I do, it kicks my ipad out and says a new device has logged in. This is not a problem, but the issue is if I already started a game, it'll waste my energy, as well as my Trumpet or whatever the minigame perk is. This is very frustrating, as it is very useful, and kind of messes up my flow. Furthermore, if I am playing offline on either device, when I come back sometimes it updates and pushes me back however many levels I advanced, which is very frustrating because some levels (especially the hard ones) have bots that start the game with a hand ready to phase out (meaning I get maybe one turn, sometimes no turns before the bot wins, and when I restart this cycle repeats, which can be very frustrating when you start with 50 energy and it takes 65 to get past one phase). Beside this, when playing online, the (very obvious bots) sometimes take FOREVER to play their card, which is kind of frustrating when you can tell theyre bots. Besides these issues, I love the game so much and recommend it to anyone with a little bit of time to spare. I am not very educated on game development and am not sure if these issues can be fixed, but if they could and were this game would be 6/5 stars!!!

Only giving 5 so this is seen!!

I’ve been playing this game off and on for months and I’m starting to really get annoyed. I get that it needs to be challenging or it would be boring but wtaf people?!? I’ve been on the same level for a week and have had to either restart it or replay the entire thing over 20 times. There is no truck to win unless you have or buy power ups. The levels with 1 or 2 boys is okay but the ones with 3 bots are ridiculously hard. Not only do the bots see to always get their hands almost immediately, they will block you back to back and I’ve had it happen even when one bot has gotten their run, another bot will block me instead of them from going out. Or if the bots that got their run is already skipped, instead of holding their skip until the skip ends, they block me out too. As for earning power ups and gems, it’s gotten a lot harder to earn them for some reason. I don’t mind buying power ups once in a while but it’s like once you do buy them, getting them free is much harder. I’m about to delete the game because it’s getting ridiculous. Out of my 50 gems, I’ll maybe get 5 passes to move on to the next level but the on the last round, I get skipped t the point I can’t win and have to replay all 8 rounds again. This game definitely isn’t relaxing in the slightest so if you want something to play and relax don’t waste your time.

Only giving 3 stars because it’s nearby impossible to get all the stars on each world you go into. The computers you play up against is always winning. They will make you think you will win the game and then on your last round you will never get the cards you need and then the computer will block you until the computer wins a hand leaving you with -90 points and you need to be under -65 to get all 3 stars. You then use your hard working money to buy some cards to block the computer thinking this time you got the computer and again you will not get your cards that you neeed. I am about to delete this game and not play it again. I will give this game or that last star I need 2 more weeks and if I do not get it bye bye to this game. I’ve spent a whole month trying to get my last star and it’s not happening…. Edit: After reading everyone's well almost everyone’s reviews it seems there is no way of winning this game because ftom the very start of when this game came out everyone’s been having issues of how the computer always wins. People who reviewed the reviews say how sorry they are but have not fixed the issue. Well ftom today forward I will never spend another penny on this game. In fact, I may just delete this game and go play skip Bo. Good luck everyone and pause10 you lost another customer

Lightning volts
Sat Dec 17 2022 lajdhdyd

I love this game and it’s very fun to play. I’ve never had any issues out the game nor any crashes. It’s easy to navigate through. There is one thing specifically that I don’t like about the game and that’s having the play 5 volts per phase in each level. I think that’s way to high especially for users that will play for hours upon hours. You have to wait 5 minutes just for 1 lightning volt. I believe it should be at minimum 2 volts. Some levels have 8 or more phases and some will have to be repeated two or three times. I’ve been stuck on a level for almost 2 days because I kept having to repeat it and would run out of volts to play. I understand they want us to buy more and all but I shouldn’t have to buy them everyday. This is something we do for fun’s me in our free time not a day job. Even with the volts at 2 per phase each level if we didn’t want to wait for the volts to recharge we would still have to buy more so there would still be money being made from us. It would be. I also think waiting 5 minutes for 1 volt is ridiculous. If it’s going to be 5 minutes at least let it be for 5 volts so we can at least play one phase to keep the game alive rather we have to repeat the phase or not, it would keep us playing even longer than what we do. This obviously is just my person opinion but I’ve talked with plenty of other players that agree with these issues but we’re not the developers of the game nor anyone who can make decisions on the game play.

Computers win too quickly
Tue Mar 14 2023 ItalianMommyof3

Second time I’m leaving a review saying this. Technically the game itself is pretty great. My favorite game until recently, and I’m about to delete it. Once you get so far in the game, the computer wins way too easily and quickly. It’s not about skill or even luck. The computer wins on their first turn, or it lets you get ahead a few levels and then the computer wins immediately every round and you have to start over, over and over again. If you win power ups or buy them, go ahead and expect to lose. I’ve started hands with double skips and 2-3 wilds, and still lose right away without a chance to even play. If the creators are trying to make money by getting people to buy things, it’s not going to work. Why spend money to get things when the computer wins right away? It’s not even fun anymore. This game used to be my go to to unwind and relax, but now it’s just frustrating. I wouldn’t mind getting beat by the computer even more than half the time, but you don’t stand a chance anymore. It’s not that each level gets harder. That would be fine if the sets you’re trying to acquire are harder to get. But you can’t even try because the computer wins right away. It’s setup to slaughter you especially if you have wilds and skips. If you’re ahead the first half, the rest of the game is not even getting a turn or only getting 1-2 turns. The creator doesn’t even respond to reviews. Why have a game that people can’t even enjoy?

Fun game- some spend money-bad customer service
Thu Jul 25 2024 kaitiewheels

I really enjoy this game, but I’ve had some issues with ads freezing and losing energy because of it. I’ve also chosen to watch ads for bonus cards and after watching it, it gives me nothing but an the same offer so I have to watch an ad again. After several occurrences, I reached out to customer service where they asked for screenshots, dates and time, which I obviously didn’t have (who would do that without prompting?). The next several times I did screenshot which provided me with that information. After sending that and being told to wait for their response (up to 72 hrs), they then asked for more information like what level I was on when it happened and which phase. I ended up 100 times more frustrated than I started, between the annoying process of actually getting to the right person to speak with, all the additional info requested, and only getting rewarded I believe a total of 15 energy (worth 3 rounds), when I had lost at least 50 energy at that point (probably closer to 200 at this point) as a “courtesy“ because they couldn’t find anything on their end. I mean worst case scenario I wasn’t being honest and was just trying to get free energy, wouldn’t you think it’d be better to just give some free energy out when it doesn’t cost you anything than to be stingy when it’s real. I’ve accepted it as part of the game play, but will NEVER spend real money on this game. If I did and lost energy because of game, I’d be furious, and I know customer service would be zero help.

I love Phase 10 but this app kind of ruined it for me
Tue Aug 30 2022 whywasabi

So this app is a lot of fun, however, as almost every other app, it’s main focus is to make money. I used to love Phase 10, but with this game as you go on to different maps or on to higher levels, you can tell that they rig the game to purposefully put you behind to get you to buy the special cards. Example, you just started a round, and all of a sudden the other “players” (the computer) just start skipping you out of no where when you haven’t even put down a phase, and you can also tell that they are given more of the wild cards. At a certain point it becomes so difficult that you can’t progress even after almost 3 tries at the same level. Some of the levels are so hard that they should be considered hard when they aren’t. Granted, they do have the option of playing with people online, but of course, it costs coins, so if you run out, you have to pay for them. Plus the rounds are much shorter playing online, it’s literally only 2, and the gameplay is kind of slow. I wish there was just a free play that they could put in Apple Arcade. No stars to earn, no ads, no energy, longer online matches. It would be a lot more enjoyable. I’ve be come so frustrated with this game. Edit: I also forgot to add. How is it that even in completing the very last phase, without any of the other players completing their phase, no cards left, and having least amount of points, I still get only 2 out of 3 stars? What sense does that make? What am I missing?
