Otherworld Legends delivers some of the punchiest, most responsive hand-to-hand combat action you can find in modern mobile gaming. The developer's mastery of pixel art shines brilliantly here, with every strike, block, and dodge conveying an exquisite sense of physical weight and kinetic impact. The animation frames are buttery smooth, elevating standard hack-and-slash mechanics into an art form.
The item synergy loop is where the rogue-like charm truly takes off. Gathering items that spawn loyal pets, shock enemies on a critical strike, or continuously heal you on a dodge turns each run into an unpredictable power trip. You go from a fragile martial artist to an unstoppable force of chaotic elemental destruction over the course of a few floors.
While grinding for premium currency to try out every character can take a while if you are completely free-to-play, the core gameplay loop is so inherently fun that you rarely care about the grind. If you want an action game that tests your raw twitch reflexes without clunky on-screen layouts, this is an easy recommendation.
Visually striking 2D/3D pixel art style paired with incredibly fluid frame-by-frame animations
Diverse roster of unlockable characters featuring completely unique fighting archetypes
An enormous library of crazy items that can be mixed, matched, and fused into overpowered combinations
Randomly generated dungeons ensuring a completely fresh tactical layout with every fresh run
To survive the escalating difficulty curve, prioritize learning the telegraph patterns of elite enemies and bosses. Do not hesitate to reset your room pathing if you can find hidden vendors or secret weaponsmiths who can fuse your existing gear into unmatched legendary items.
Gameplay relies heavily on fast reflexes, dodging, and utilizing a custom skill configuration system. Players find and hoard a vast array of unique items during a run; combining items with complementary properties transforms simple melee attacks into destructive status-inflicting elemental combos.
Characters can be unlocked using Sapphire fragments collected during active runs, special event tickets, or via in-app purchases for premium heroes.
So I played a lot of chillys games and this is by far one of my favorite since you can quite literally become one punch man on the hardest difficulty. Then I got an idea of what if they made a skin similar to that for peddler and I don’t know why but when I saw asura using his fist I thought it would be awesome if peddler had a similar skin when he used his swinging kitten and he grew more arms. Anyway enough about that and onto the actual game itself. It’s an amazing game the only thing I wish was different about it was me having more time to play it but I think a cool feature would be to be able to choose one item from the game and take it with you like the beads or extra health something that’s basic and simple but every character can use like you go to the top left corner near the tv and next to the banned stuff you have something that you can take bout you have to spend half your gold in order to take it each time. I know chilly probably won’t read this but if you do thank you for taking the time to both read this and make amazing games and if any of these ideas seem like a good one I hope you like it and put it in the game? Anyway thanks again for an amazing game like this soul knight the kitchen one I think and a couple others. Have a good day
Having come from Soul Knight, and preordered the game, i have mixed feelings. I’ve played for about 10-30 minutes, here are my thoughts: The actual combat mechanics in the game are rough, they take time to get used to. Adding dodging as a mechanic is a good idea but, due to poor execution, dulls the gameplay and even makes it frustrating. To fix this, I would love to see omnidirectional dodging, rather than only back and forth; instead of dodging away from the direction you are looking, how about dodging towards the direction you’re looking(aiming). That on its own should bring combat from a 5/10 to an 8/10. Next, the plot is confusing. It feels like there is an attempt to make a plot, but it doesn’t go anywhere. Hopefully we can look to better that in future updates. There is no tutorial after the basic combat tutorial, so I would love to be given more direction on what I’m supposed to do in the game after that. Onto what i enjoyed in the game! The art! The art is beautiful, right from the get-go i was blown away by how wonderful it was, I’ll be staying for that. The style! It’s a Chinese game and it maintains that aesthetic well, while also giving us more. It’s a bit hard to explain that part, so go ahead and check the game out for yourself. Finally, the fighting. I was ragging on it earlier, but it is still enjoyable. Even with its flaws, i can still have some fun. Thank you for the game, developers! I wish you the best of luck from here on, and i look forward to the next updates!
This game has a lot of good things going for it. The art style (subjective take, I know) is awesome. I’m a sucker for pixel graphics. The combat is smooth and responsive. A nice selection of characters with different play styles between them. The core gameplay loop simple so you can very easily pick the game up whenever and play a round before putting it down whenever. It has multiplayer which has worked fairly well in my few rounds I’ve played online. The WORST part (and reason it isn’t 5 stars) is the unlocking process for characters is pretty awful. You unlock them through fragments and can get fragments (like 2 fragments) daily through daily tasks. But you can only claim fragments for the 3 current characters in rotation, and each character needs 18 fragments to unlock (some are cheaper but the majority are 18) Also for those who care the game does have micro-transactions, but it has some of the best pricing I’ve ever seen from a mobile game. I think the most expensive items (which are skins) cost like $4 each. (and are optional) Another minor complaint is battlefield mode. Overall it’s fun killing enemies but occasionally you end up towards the end of the wave and it starts just spawning only 4 or 5 enemies at a time and it slows down the chaos too much and ruins the mode for me. If there’s only 10 of a specific enemy left don’t just spawn 3 of him just give all 10 when there’s nothing left to spawn.
I’ve never written a review for a mobile game before, but this game made me do it. This game doesn’t have a wide range of characters, but each of them has an overflowing level of depth and creative customization. Most of them cost money to play as, but we have access to three free characters right now. I’ll leave it at that for explaining characters. The dungeons are what we’re here for. Each dungeon has a shop, boss, and possibly a secret room hidden somewhere. Within the shops, you can buy and upgrade weapons to get specific skills like a poison ailment effect or elemental fairies that follow you around (plus much more). When you enter the dungeon, you are provided with about 5 item slots plus an inventory. While exploring, you’ll encounter chests that contain currency and items to apply into your slots. When I find the right items that compliment each other, I feel like a god. The combat is fluent and the beautiful 8-bit style of art makes it more pleasing to the eyes. This game also supports co-op (which I have yet to try out). I encourage everyone who enjoys a good hack and slash dungeon crawler to try this game out. Easy 5/5.
Outstanding! I want more of everything I’m hooked just bought the pally dude!!! Y’all guys and gals make amazing games!!! Thank you! Okay I’ve sank quite some hours in, I still agree with my original above comment buuuut I lack stuff to unlock, you should not have to pay for skills on free characters or especially the paid. I bought Quentin the Paladin character started played and then ran into another pay wall asking for money to unlock some of his skills, not cool. I love that the game is super hard, it’s very fun buuuut you should also allow us some way to earn some items permanently, it would be a great opportunity for you to allow us to unlock them with our hard earned gems. I love the animations and gameplay but I don't really see myself playing very long without unlockables to grind for, if you need real money from us so bad that you have to charge us for skills even after we bought your characters with real money then add an ad system for earning gems, I noticed you already make us watch ads for a revive so it shouldn’t be that tough to implement. Overall it’s an amazing game that with a few changes I could see myself and others really addicted too. Real simple , ads for gems, and permanently unlockable items and everything would be pretty max level amazing, I also can’t wait for the multiplayer your working on. This game is pretty sweet and with very few changes you have the basis to give us something Legendary, Otherworldly even. Thank you for your hard work and please take my thoughts into consideration. I promise not only will it keep us addicted for more than a few play through a but it will have us throwing more real cash at you. Thank you and much love to ya!
I am really enjoying this game already. I pre-ordered this through the quick portal in this developer’s Soul Knight game not knowing what it would be. I’ve had the day off so I’ve been playing it on and off since it downloaded and it’s very similar to Soul Knight in its gameplay but much more fleshed out. The boss fighting and tactics feel much more challenging, not at all like a run and gun. I’ve actually reached the final boss required to clear the normal mode after playing for quite a bit and unfortunately I failed at the last stage from a notification getting in the way but I can honestly say no other mobile game (and even most triple A titles) has made me rage or accomplished like this game does. Since it just came out there aren’t as many modes or features available at the moment but regular maintenance and occasional content drops will keep this game amazing. The only thing I’m really confused about is how to unlock Ginzo’s other ultimate abilities, there are no prompts for using sapphire to learn them once I reach the right levels like there are for the first character. Maybe there’s a higher level cap or a small bug missed during the release but I’m still enjoying it all the same.
Ok, I’ll be honest, I downloaded this game as a timewaster during class when I get bored, but it’s so much more than that. I was pleasantly suprised by the lack of ads, the beautiful pixel art, and the fun characters. Each character has its own playstyle, and despite being able to pay for them, you can unlock all of them for free if you’re active in the game. Personally, my favorite character to play is Ginzo, but Akaisha is absolutely cracked with her base skill because, although it’s not good for individual enemies, you can kill the final boss in just 1 to 3 skill bursts if you’re smart about it. Even the starter character is lots of fun, she’s very balanced and makes all of the battles fun. I even get to indulge in my gambling addiction with the occasional monster fights you can bet on while in the dungeon (without using actual money). I’m definitely spending real money on this game, even though I don’t need to, just to support the developers. It’s an amazing game with amazing graphics and is highly replayable. Thank you for making Spanish II and AP Psych more enjoyable classes, because I’m constantly playing this game when I’m in them.
Originally I had bought the skills for Ginzo because I do enjoy games that come from Chillyroom and wanted to show my support. I am very happy to see them make these skills grind able. However I do wish soul stones had more uses outside of buying drinks and ashura points and weapon enhancing. Maybe being a method to purchase a ticket for events like the Origin Quest from Soul Knight. Perhaps also allow vertical dodging? It is very fast paced navigating the rooms when going horizontal but moving vertically kills dodging momentum. Edit: Also please balance the hidden room boss fight with the archer. Having vertical dodging would be great for this boss fight as not having followers leaves any character save Oli susceptible to easy kills and I don’t wanna save scum an entire floor just because I hate running into one mini boss. Speaking off, the old man in stage 3 bamboo area is BS you get insta punished with no tells for maintains aggression in a fight with an undodgeable root. Chillyroom please balance this because as it is, if you aren’t running a build that has followers that can tank your aggro this old man in groups of 2 or more is 90% of the reason runs die. Save that and the black clad Ibis minions, when in groups of 2 or more will perma lock you without followers
