We've squashed bugs and made behind-the-scenes improvements to bring Netflix members the best possible gameplay experience.
The Netflix Game Controller is a fascinating utility that marks a major step in Netflix's gaming ambitions. It effectively turns your smartphone into a dedicated gamepad for your TV or browser, bridging the gap between mobile and big-screen gaming. The setup is remarkably simple, and once connected, the latency is surprisingly low, making it a viable option for most of the titles in the Netflix library.
While still in beta, the app shows immense promise. The interface is clean and mirrors a standard controller layout, which feels natural in the hand. It doesn't replace a dedicated Pro Controller for high-intensity action, but for the platformers and narrative games like 'Storyteller' or 'Oxenfree', it’s a brilliant solution. It’s a great way for families to jump into games without needing extra hardware, and as the library expands, this tool will likely become an essential part of the Netflix ecosystem.
Turns your phone into a gamepad
Seamless integration with Netflix TV apps
Clean, intuitive button layout
Low-latency wireless connection
Available to all Netflix members
Open the Netflix app on your TV and select a game. Then, open the Controller app on your phone and follow the on-screen prompts to sync via the local network.
Check the official Netflix support list if your TV isn't connecting; not all devices and browsers are supported during the initial beta phase.
No, the app is free to use for any Netflix member with an active streaming subscription.
I don’t if I’m the I’m the only one, probably not, but I just had to watch all of my best friends play these really really fun games without me because the controller would just randomly not work. It would let me into the app and connect to the game but then just freeze up. I’m really upset, I don’t get to see my friends that often and I really wanted to share this experience with them and had to unfortunately miss out. I can’t say this enough, I’m really upset with Netflix for this one. You would think with something with such a large monthly subscription and even larger platform that they would have the best controller money can buy. Please fix this Netflix, this is unacceptable. The games are really fun when the controller works. I just don’t get it Netflix, I just feel uncared about completely. Please fix this! Please! I don’t want to be forced to miss out anymore! We only get one life and we never get this time back. Please and thank you.
So when I first got this I was like ok this is really cool and I enjoyed it. So it was fine for the first day. But then I tried one of the games and it said it couldn’t connect. I know that means my internet was bad but it wasn’t. I tried all the other games to see if it was just that certain one but they all said that. I just shrugged it off and watched a regular show. It’s been like 2 weeks and every time I try to play a game that is what happens. Idk if I should delete and re download the app or if it has something to do with the tv or the phone or whatever but I’m really not sure what to do. But if it did work it would be an amazing game.
I have a great time playing this app even my dad likes one of the games. But you can only play from your tv which is not good because that is the only way your are able to play some of the games. So I say you can still have the app but in it you can put it to the screen like before or make it like touch screen on the Xbox app. Where the game is on your screen and the buttons are on the side out of the way. So that is why it should be more mobile.
I think this concept is really great and could become something big if gone about the right way , and some technical issues get resolved. Some things I think people would really enjoy are : Trivia games (multiple regular topics , Netflix based topics ), truth or dare , truth and lie games , This or that games ( multiple regular topics ,Netflix based topics) , sorting games( for kids) ; along with mini multiplayer games , split screen multiplayer games , and even international multiplayer games and tournaments. I really like this concept , and again it could go so far if built on the right way!!!
Ok so like the other reviewers I can’t play my happy gillmore golf mane a 98 demo for some reason the only reason I gave it five so yall could see but Netflix better fix this or ima go to the headquarters and fix it myself every time i scan the thing it don’t work like it takes me back here so im lucky its not just me with this problem but Netflix you better fix this now because ima crash out all I want3d to do was see a crocodile in the new game now fix this before I start yelling
All of my games all of a sudden have no sound once I go into them to play. My internet connection is fine. It was tested. I checked all the tv sound settings on my smart tv and the sound settings on my phone and within the games themselves. Affix itself does not need to be updated. I tried to sign in and out of the nexflix account and that did nothing. When I called Netflix the woman on the phone was no help and couldn’t tell me what was wrong after I checked all of the above things. Fortunately the movies have sound but I’m worried that will eventually not work too. It’s a shame that I’m paying for this account and there’s apparently no way to help
It’s obviously still a work in progress but it is a fantastic idea and great when the app actually connects to the TV. I’m running iOS 17.4 on my iPhone 13 and it was able to connect once, but no longer :( I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. But! My sister’s phone is a new model running the same iOS and it connects 100% of the time. Like I said, it’s still got some kinks that need to be ironed out, but once they are I’ll be playing a lot more
Do not trust the other reviews!!!! This app is sooooooooo good you can play with friends and family and NO malfunction and when you playing it is easy ! Also it’s not that complicating like some people think it is and plus you can teach others the games are so fun me and cousin love the Lego party , and party crasher ! And the best thing is you DON’T have to pay for NOTHING no pay no gain try it for yourself in not a liar trust 🤣😁
