Modern Warships is an absolute titan of mobile naval combat. The graphical fidelity is staggering, pushing the limits of what mobile devices can do with realistic water reflections and highly detailed ship models. It feels less like a mobile game and more like a dedicated PC sim. The sheer variety of modern naval hardware—from aircraft carriers to nuclear submarines—is a dream for military buffs.
The combat is tactical and weighty. You have to manage missile reloads, flares, and positioning to survive. The multiplayer matches are intense, requiring real coordination to take down an enemy fleet. It’s also surprisingly deep in terms of customization, letting you swap out weapons systems to suit your playstyle. If you’re looking for a serious, high-production-value combat game, this is the gold standard for naval warfare on the App Store.
Breathtaking console-grade graphics
Authentic modern naval vessels
Real-time online PvP battles
Detailed weapon customization
Dynamic weather and day/night cycles
Don't waste your flares! Wait for the 'Missile Incoming' warning to turn red before deploying countermeasures. This ensures the flares are close enough to the ship to effectively distract the incoming warhead.
When playing as an Aircraft Carrier, you switch to a top-down view to launch and control squads of fighters and bombers. Balancing your ship's safety while managing your air wings is the key to high-level play.
Yes, submarines are a major part of the game, featuring unique underwater mechanics, torpedoes, and stealth-based gameplay.
When I first downloaded this game I was kinda skeptical it would be like any other warship game to download…. I was wrong. This game is AMAZING! I can tell so much work was put into developing this game. The graphics are awesome and the physics of this game is amazing. I love how every part of the ship is being used in battle. Radar, guns, rockets, air defense… the list continues. Their is one thing I have to say tho. I wish I didn’t have to get to level 25 to play most of the cool ships. You spend a lot of time on this app and can’t appreciate the finer ships. I guess it gives you time to explore and upgrade but I feel like level 25 is a high number to get too. For me at least. I’m at level 21 and I’m trying lol. Also I wish they could add more maps. Playing the same set of maps over and over again gets kinda boring. You find good hiding spots but I feel like we need more maps to play. Also. Would be cool if their was an intense storm map like crazy weather and waves. Would be fun I think. I’m not complaining at all. This game is incredibly in all honesty. But doing the same thing over again is kinda a loss we gotta deal with I guess. Also warships need more protection from submarines haha. I can defend my ship but it’s kinda hard just with my grenade launcher lol. And when my helicopter gets shot down all I can do is wait for them to resurface. But other then that keep up the good work! I hope for some cool updates in the future. Thank you all!! 😎😃
This game is the best thing since sliced bread. The graphics are amazing and the physics are great. You can tell they put work and passion into this game. I think this game deserves more recognition and attention than it is now, but here are a few suggestions I thing will make the game better. Add the F-4 Phantom: The F-4 Phantom is literally DESIGNED for carrier operations, yet no F-4s, But if the F-4 was a previous event, then sorry for this suggestion. The F-4 should have Vietnam War weapons or pre-Vietnam War weapons which ever you prefer (Ex: gbu-11 bomb) The f4 should be a tier 2 jet. Buff submarines: Being a submarine commander is stressful, because you have to constantly check your surroundings and O2. If you don’t check your surroundings. A missile/torpedo will fly at you and take 1/3 of your health. I get that you can check the mini map, but still Buff the health or something at least. Add more maps: The maps are great and creative, but same thing over and over again is repetitive. Each map gives you a unique feeling and I keep finding something new in each map. Add like a reference to anything (Ex: Make a map that closely resembles New York City’s coast with destroyed buildings like if China and/or Russia had successfully invaded America, and call it “Invaded City”) Add an ejection system to the KA-52: The KA-52 have an ejection system, so it’ll be really cool to add it like an easter egg. The ejected pilot obviously won’t do anything. The parachute will be floating until a certain amount of time. Thank you for taking your time reading this review.
I edited my previous review but I forgot to change the rating and remove some irrelevant information for my new review. Ok so from the top - I have seen the improvements to the game and it’s helping a lot. Next I’m disappointed with the chat community in game. I have ask multiple times “What is the best T3 Rare Loadout for RF Varyag?” With no response. I have seen a trend that high level players refuse to help low level players with trying to gaining the upper hand in matches. So I’m just suggesting that there be a “Recommended Loadout” to help low level players with the equipment. For example RF Varyag is an excellent AA platform so the recommended Loadout could be, Air Defense role: RIM-161 x3, Garpun (30mm) x11, or a anti-ship role. My new complaint is the Market, for F2P players it’s difficult to enjoy some of the Market items such as Helicopters, Drones, Strike Fighters, and Fighters. There’s no way for F2P players to earn Artcoins except through the hourly video. There’s a reason we are called Free 2 Play players we don’t want to spend our hard earned money on something that only lasts for several seconds. That is my only complaint with the game right now, but the suggestion is the help the low level players with the equipment and save them the frustration of dealing with high level players. And as to answer your earlier question I’m on a IPad 9th Gen iOS 17, with the game graphics on low. I cannot use high or ultra settings or the game starts crashing.
Dear Modern Warships developers, Hi! The game is very enjoyable! Every player that is new to the game should have 100 titanium. But, when I look in the ship shop. No ships can be purchased with titanium. Well, I read the info on the titanium. It says it can be used to purchase special ships. But, where exact? The market? No, that’s for Art coins. Ship shop? No, only purchasable with money and gold. So, where else??? I see that you can get titanium from the leader board in some specific tournament. Please tell me, I am a bit lost with this titanium resource. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that those vault coins I get are terribly useless. Why? Well, think about people who are young and don’t have job and are playing this game. Same here. Instead of using real money to have access on old battle passes. Can’t I just use gold. That makes life much easier. Free to play over here, so…yeah. I understand that if you have a lot of vault coins and have the access to use gold to access old battle passes, like I mentioned earlier? Sorry if I’m getting you lost, it’s a pretty long reply to read. But, still, at least make those vault coins more useful to free to play people. I appreciate your effort on this game and I very much love it. Send a reply anytime! No rush. Have a great day! Thank you!
Great Game! As far as play goes, especially for a mobile game, it’s top tier. The batteries are actually physicalized making mechanics or firing missiles feel satisfying. The flight mechanics of aircraft from the carriers and from the ship equipped helicopters is solid for what it needs to be, arcade like yes, but still enjoyable with decent physics. Maps are relatively bare bones, but they serve the purpose they are needed to. As far as in app purchases… it sells insane advantages for real $. The most mythical ships you’ll find are based out of the “Marketplace” which is a pseudo stock market. There exists market place only ships (meaning they can’t be earned) through regular means. They require a type of current called art coin. To give you a run down the most expensive ship in the game is the USS Arsenal which cost 200,000 art coin. How do you get art coin? Well, you pay for it with 4,000 art coin costing $100 USD. To be fair they have a rotating “deal of the day” type thing which severely reduces costs (typically $50 for 8,000 art coin, $100 for 20,000). While the arsenal is still basically unaffordable at this price the new OP “legendary ships” they release as market exclusives are around 20,000 art coin. So at the very best of deals it will cost you a minimum of $100 for a legendary ship. I’m sure you can see the money pit this game can be! With that being said battle pass ships and ships earnable through game are decent and will definitely get you kills, the grind will just be LONG if you don’t spend real$. Regardless, with tiered play you will have fun regardless of money spent.
This game in undeniably the greatest most well made game on the market. It has high performance paired with high graphics and massive amounts of well detailed content. I remember the description of the game saying that there are a total of 30 ships, but after playing it for a week I can confidently say that there are closer to 100 fully customizable modern (and 2 ww2 era) warships. Ranging from missile cruisers which can destroy any target from across the map to aircraft carriers with fully controllable aircraft. Every ship and each of the 100s of components are carefully adjusted and balanced to the point where there is no one best or worst ship or weapon, instead you chose ones which beat represent your style leading to a very diverse community in terms of ships instead of everyone spamming that one op ship like in other games. There is an offline mode in case you have no connection and custom mode where you can tweak a game mode to your preferences to play with friends. The pay-to-win aspect exists of course, but instead of shoving ads and “limited time offers” in your face you can go through the store and the game at your own pace in a no pressure environment that doesn’t require you to pay to continue playing. Overall, good gam.
This game easily deserves 5* except you can not customize the controls/ Button positioning. So it’s next to impossible to fly the jets on iPad with out accidentally launching misses or switching to another aircraft. That is one of the many issues that arise during game play from not being able to move controls around. Super Frustrating because other than that the game is amazing. Not sure how customized controls not part of it. Seems to be standard on all other games. I will be back to update stars if they ever update the controls. Works better on my iPhone but I didn’t buy an iPad Pro so I could put it down to play a game on my iPhone. Update: No no customized controls yet. But I do have to mention that with the hundreds of mobile games I have played this game (as far as cost) is fair and relatively affordable if you take advantage of the specials. The vip pass is 15$ for the month. Premium is for 3$ a week but the game includes plenty of free premium passes. This might seem like a lot to have some but compared to other mobile games it’s next to nothing. This game is amazing and not a standard pay to win imo. I have no problem dropping 15-20$ a month to support this game as the updates seem pretty good. Still no customizable HUD tho. It’s the perfect game one they introduce that:)
The game is very interesting and fun, but it has a few issues: while the game has a good number of ships, 80% of them are either American or Russian ships. Though it’s not like you’ll know what is from what nation as there is nothing to indicate its nation nor is there a sort by nation option like your sister game Battle of Warships (which has not received an update in 2 years btw) does. That said, there needs to be more ships, especially from Germany. A good candidate would be the destroyer Lütjens (D185). Also, since you guys seem to have USS Missouri and IJN Yamato added to the game, there should be a bit more battleships than just those, say perhaps HMS Vanguard (23) and USS New Jersey (BB-62). Also, HMS Duncan should have the 114 mm/45 Mark 8 gun, not the same 127 mm/54 Mark 45 as Arleigh Burke, especially when the 114 mm has similar capabilities but has a 20% faster rate of fire (26 rpm vs the 127 mm’s 20). Also Duncan never had Apaches and her Aster SAM is replaced with American Tomahawks. She seems more like an Arleigh Burke on a Type 45 destroyer hull. Upon further inspection it looks like all British equipment on British ships get theirs replaced with American equipment they never used. Similarly Kurama never had Nark 45 5”/54 guns. She had the Mark 42 Mod 7. Also Yamato’s “52 mm” are actually 127 mm/40 DP guns and the triple “13 mm machine guns” are actually triple 25 mm autocannons. For the future, I’m hoping to see the likes of HMS Vanguard (23), Lütjens (D185), and INS Viraat (R22).
