Letterlike is a brilliant mashup that I didn't know I needed. By combining the 'spelling' mechanics of Bookworm Adventures with the 'run-based' progression of Slay the Spire, it creates a gameplay loop that is genuinely addictive. You aren't just finding words; you are managing a cooldown system where every letter used has a cost. Do you use your only 'S' to finish a small word now, or hold out for a massive 'STRENGTH' play that could one-shot a boss?
The roguelike elements are perfectly implemented. The artifacts you collect throughout a run can drastically change your strategy, turning certain vowels into bombs or making consonant-heavy words act as shields. The procedural generation ensures that you never see the same dungeon twice, and the 'Knowledge' points you earn upon death make the 'just one more run' feeling very real. It’s a smart, polished, and intellectually stimulating game that every word puzzle fan should own.
Procedurally Generated Dungeons
100+ Unique Artifacts
Unlockable Characters
Permadeath Challenge
Don't settle for three-letter words. Saving up specific letters to form a seven-letter word will trigger a 'Super-Spell' that damages all enemies on screen.
Pick artifacts that boost specific letters. For example, the 'Quill of Power' doubles the damage of any word containing the letter 'Q'.
Like all roguelikes, you lose your current progress but earn 'Knowledge' points to unlock permanent upgrades for your next run.
I really all enjoying this word game quite a bit thus far. Having the buffs and multipliers adds an extra level of challenge and fun to the classic word game I think. I got pretty far in one play-through. Im not sure that I fully understand the shop, though. I buy the diamonds sometimes. But I don’t particularly understand what they are being used for or going towards? If I buy enough am I then able to open up some of the locked slots for the special powers? I hope that’s what is going on? I wish that there was a little more explanation about the shop please. Thank you. Overall, though, I’m extremely happy with my purchase and I believe I’ll be playing this title a lot. As an avid word game enthusiast this game ranks quite high up among the greats in my opinion. Many thanks to the developer for creating and offering such an enjoyable experience and God bless. iPhone 13 Pro Max/ iOS 18.1.1 Reply to Developer Response: Thank you so much for getting back to me (so quickly too) and letting me know how to use the diamonds that I buy. I appreciate that so very much. And just, again, thank you so much for creating and offering one of the best word games I’ve ever played. ❤️ I haven’t had this much fun in a word game in forever. It’s nice to have a different approach, a unique one at that, and challenge to this genre of games. Thanks a bunch!
Hello, I was wondering if you can make some games. For example, I was wondering if you can make some trivia games or possibly if you can can you please add a daily gift pack to wear you get lives every day somehow or something like that and also if you can, can you please also add point tripler where are you triple the points what I mean by that is when you triple the points For example ranges from 600. It’ll go all the way to 2400 points something like that. Also, instead of having people go to the homepage when they miss and they don’t beat the score. I was wondering if you could also have people use the gems that they have so that way they can Revive their game. Thank you so much. Have a great day.
This is my favorite word game out of the many apps I’ve tried over the years. It’s complex yet intuitive and has a wide variety of difficulty settings and items to unlock. Really awesome concept and very addicting once you figure out your strategy. I would love to give 5 stars but it has a few major bugs. The achievements for completing difficulty levels and bags do not unlock, even when I have clearly completed them. Also, I have completed all 3 card unlocks for circular, palindrome, alphabetical, and reverse alphabetical… but the corresponding bags are still locked. It’s really disappointing because I would love to complete all the achievements and unlock all the bags. I hope they fix this issue soon and I would gladly change my review to 5 stars - seriously, this is my favorite word game app.
I’m updating my review to be five stars. Thank you, developer, for your recent reply about a bug I experienced where it showed a target score of zero and then wouldn’t let you beat it. I redownloaded the game to give it another try, and it seems to be working fine now. That must have just been some weird glitch. This is a great game for a great price, with no ads or IAP. I appreciate the small file size and that it saves progress too. I’m thankful for good indie developers who produce a good product and monetize fairly. I recommend this game, it’s one of the best word games out there. And I love the minimalistic design and all the options in settings. Thank you!
Really fun game, makes you rack your brain for words to come up with. Has a cool game loop with a sweet upgrade system and shop to buy stuff. It’s challenging and makes you think which is a good thing. Also fun for short sessions if you want something to kill a little time vs doom scrolling on social media. Looking forward to see what the updates do for the game later on. Def Plan on playing it a lot more. I’ve been struggling towards the final round to hit the word score. But practice makes perfect ha! Definitely recommend it!
Very fun and more interesting than the typical word games in the app store. Nice to play a game without being bombarded with ads and microtransaction. Some feedback for the dev: 1) there is a bug in the score calculation when you have multiple consecutive bricks. The points are different if you place one brick vs if you place two bricks then remove one despite one brick in both 2) the final stage conditions could use some balancing. The double points one is way harder than many of the others 3) the game flow after a win doesn't make a lot of sense. What is the point of sending back to the normal store and offering tile based rewards when there are no more stages. It's also a bit weird that you are more rewarded when you lose (access to the special store) than when you win (no special store)
I’ve been playing this game since the very early days and it’s been wonderful seeing the dev respond to feedback. I think my big thing was dark mode in the beginning, and it seemed like once I said something it was added almost overnight. Crazy! I will definitely be picking up Letterlike on Steam too. Thanks for adding cloud saves for cross platform support! Really appreciate all your work on this unique and amazing game!
Love this game so much already, but it is quite difficult in the beginning. I’ve put in quite a few hours and yet to beat the starter bag. Also you should change it so when you can pick a reward you can somehow read about what they are. Some of them I don’t know what they are and I pick them hoping it’ll pop up a screen explaining what they are but instead it just picks them. Thank you for making this! It’s great.
