Island War: Raid is a clever mix of troop merging and tower defense tactics. You're tasked with conquering a series of islands by deploying a customized army. The 'merging' mechanic before battle adds a layer of strategy—do you want many small units or a few powerful ones? It’s satisfying to see your little Vikings or archers swarm an enemy base and tear it down.

The game is very fast-paced; matches usually last less than a minute, which is perfect for mobile play. As you progress, you unlock more unit types and heroes that can turn the tide of battle. While the 'pay-to-win' wall eventually starts to loom in high-level PvP, the single-player campaign and clan wars provide plenty of fun for those looking for a light strategy experience with great character designs.

Truly great game!

There’s usually only three reasons I write a review: 1) I’m getting free stuff, in which case I lay that out in the review, 2) the game is so bad that I don’t want others to get sucked into the same garbage I got duped into, and 3) the game is so good it deserves praise and recognition so others can enjoy it and hopefully the game grows and gets even better! This totally falls in the third category. It’s great! Fun, great strategy and awesome characters. It’s built in a way that pay2win players don’t really have an advantage, and there’s no pay wall to hit so you can’t advance if you’re f2p! It’s incredibly balanced and still super fun. If I was to give the devs any advice, I’d like more control over building my base. I like that you can get different islands w/ different terrain, but depending on the invading team’s power, it doesn’t make much difference. Considering the penalties for losing a base raid aren’t too harsh, it’s not a huge deal. I’d really like to replay raids though so I can see where my defenses failed and try to improve. Other than that, I think it’s an awesome game. Keep it up!

I enjoy this game. It’s simple but entertaining, not to mention addictive. I’ve had the game a few days now and can’t seem to stop playing. I even wanted to play at work. It deserves 5 stars. The reason i am giving 4 is because of a few things. For 1 the crazy wait times. Most games replenish by the minute. I can even bare by the hour. But it’s 24 hours for everything to refill. Once you’ve used up all your tries so to speak there’s no real progression until a full day later. Even after hitting a certain point in the rewards you have to wait to the full 24 hours claim them. The building on your island is the only acceptable wait time.(in my personal opinion) Number 2 the building stones or runes. I’m level like level 19 and still don’t know how many I need to hire another builder. To use your blue gems to get the builder you need a whooping 2000. And it’s only valid for 2weeks then you have to grind the stones or break open your piggy bank again. The third and final thing is it’s expensive to use your blue gems. Whenever you want to just speed through a build time it cost outrageous amounts of gems to do so. It’s crazy because just attempting to get my first hero. Had my EYE on Odin of course. Lol. I’ve grinded and spent what had to be around 2500 gems. Now I understand unlike most games it’s not to much tedious grinding to get the gems. But that does mean it doesn’t take time to fill your pocket. The game is great. And there are many reasons why I keep it. But it’s these 3 issues that make me want to uninstall it. I hope this review makes a difference and is not just a waste of our time. Thanks.

Very well done. Gameplay it satisfying and easy to understand and upgrades aren’t so time consuming it’s not worth it. It’s easy to progress and you don’t have to buy gems, you can get them easily though challenges and from your mine. Why I’m writing this review: 1- I found a bug that freezes all shops and troops upon deployment. Not game breaking but a bit irritating to retreat because your troops are frozen. 2- I think the match-making could be improved. I’d prefer to only be matched with people within 2 or 3 thousand of my own power. Two reasons for this. First, getting matched with someone 30,000 power or more below me is a bit disappointing because they don’t have as many resources to plunder and it’s simply not worth it. Second, I have only been successfully raided by people 30,000 power or more above me. How I arrange my defenses doesn’t even matter at that point, they just plow right through me. I’d like to actually have my defenses tested. Right now, I don’t know if they work properly because the people who pull off a raid on me are so powerful, nothing I do would matter anyway. Matching with people within 3,000 of your own power would be sufficiently challenging to raid and defend. Anyway, this is the most fun I’ve had on a mobile game for a while. Seriously well done. There are some flaws for sure but they are small enough that they don’t take away from the experience. I get matched unfairly with people, yes, but it doesn't happen enough that it’s a serious problem. Really, thanks for making this.

Best Clash of Clans rip-off ever made

So I saw a review by Wacky1215 a while again and I thought I would try this game out to see how good it is. I mean it had 4.9 out of 5 stars (the highest I’ve ever seen for a game with more than 20k ratings) and decided to see if it was truly as good as it was perceived to be. And I was wrong. It wasn’t good, it was AMAZING. I spent almost 2 hours or more every day plying this game because of how cool it is. Especially coming from me being a person to be harsh with my reviews, this game is actually fire. I also like how it keeps people from being too addicted by adding a 20 plays limit to how many times you can play to earn trophies in 12 hours. I recommend getting this game and deleting every other game you have just to play this game (that’s what I did, lol) Edit: I forgot to mention, I did not get a single ad while I played the game, love it

Good potential, terrible execution

I just got done dropping out of my clan and deleting this game after playing for just under a week. I was just about to finish leveling my City Hall to 6 and unlocking my 4th boat, but at this point I honestly didn’t care because the longer I played the more I saw the matchmaking feature got worse and worse. Every time I increased my attack power I would get defenders that way overpowered me to the point that I couldn’t find viable battle opponents for regular battles and ESPECIALLY Clan league battles. It became ridiculous when I was tapping next for literally 10 minutes and just got page after page of opponents that overpowered me by 10k or more. So, forget this stupid spiral down the drain, I’m glad I didn’t invest any money because it’s shocking that, as a new player, I literally experienced diminishing returns in less than a week. It usually takes a few weeks to start hitting these types of walls and money grabs, but being a fresh player and ALREADY getting smacked down by terrible matchmaking to the point that I can’t even play anymore is crazy dumb. Good luck devs! I have no idea what your gameplan is, but you chased me off in record time. Congrats.

Awesome, Addicting, and Awesome

I spend a lot of time on here I’m also the clan leader of The Home Depot THD I am shamwow. This game is awesome and I love the leveling system and a lot of different things to do. However I think there are a few things you could add.... First with the clans there’s not much to do as a team besides clan war and even then most people are confused as to what a clan does besides rewards every once in awhile. Second I would like to say that there should be more rewards later in game because it’s kind of like it carries you the whole way then you kind of get stagnant awhile and make slow big steps or a lot of tiny ones. Thank you for reading I really do love the game and will stick around hoping for some cool updates and the heros definitely looking forward to them. P.S. sorry for the run on sentences...

Games going downhill

Frequent, unannounced changes in the mechanics of the game is fairly frustrating but until recently only required adjusting strategy. Currently the defensive aspect has been severely nerfed to the point where defensive strategies are useless and offensive strategies are unnecessary. There is currently no strategy required to find success and the game is boring. Hard to justify playing a strategy game that no longer requires strategy. They say they notify us of changes, but that’s bologna. Sure they notify changes to troop/hero stats through their discord, stuff you can see. Never a notification of changes in troop logic (some people say AI, but it’s hardly intelligent) and certainly not when they nerfed every players defense. I mean NERFED to the point of boredom. Developers neglect the players, clan members post on clan discords responses and it’s discouraging. It’s all about money, not player experience. Games been going downhill, if they can’t resolve it soon I cant justify spending time playing the game or simply having the app on my phone.

I don’t approve of how the 52k gem incident was handled

The game is fun at first, but then it becomes rather repetitive. Your excitement will plateau as you hit the soft pay wall (you know it once your troops aren’t leveling much). While I don’t mind spending some money on the game, I am not sure if I can trust the company given the recent incident. Long story short, the devs accidentally gave players 52k gem (in-game currency), and some players spent it! For others who didn’t, they saw their gem balance got subtracted. This not only gave the people who spent the 52k gem an unfair advantage, but also affected people who didn’t, as some saw the purchased gems with their own money got removed!!! While the company claimed that they did a thorough communication BEFORE deducting the gems from all players, the truth is that you would only know if you are on their Discord server. And most of the players didn’t even know about the Discord server, because the link to there was not obvious inside this game. I am personally not affected by this incident much, but I don’t agree with how the company handled this, which led to a portion of the user base leaving the game. I honestly think if you were to let everyone keep their gems, you would profit from it in the long run. This will be a good try-before-you-buy for players to get into the spending habit. I wrote a lot for this review because I care about this game. It’s a shame what happens recently, and I think it would be hard for the company to rebuild the trust between the game and the players.
