Dear Doctors and Nurses:
- The Seoul Hospital you've all been waiting for is now open!
- Welcome back to the challenge!
Hospital Mania Zoo Story is a charming blend of time-management and veterinary simulation. If you've played games like Diner Dash or Hospital Dash, the core mechanic will feel familiar, but the 'Zoo' twist adds a lot of personality. Instead of angry human patients, you're dealing with sneezing pandas, monkeys with sore throats, and lions with thorns in their paws. Each animal has unique needs and behaviors, which keeps the frantic pace of the game interesting.
The game does a great job of introducing new equipment and clinic rooms at a steady pace, so you never feel like you're just doing the same thing over and over. You have to balance upgrading your medical gear with decorating the zoo to keep the 'visitor satisfaction' high. It’s colorful, frantic, and surprisingly wholesome. While the later levels can get incredibly stressful as the number of patients piles up, the joy of seeing a cured elephant trumpeting as it leaves the clinic is a great reward.
Fast-Paced Time Management
Adorable Animal Patients
Customizable Zoo Hospital
Heartwarming Story Mode
Always prep a 'General Medicine' dose even if no one needs it yet. In the middle of a rush, having that one item ready to go can save you 2 seconds that prevent a patient from leaving in frustration.
Your nurse's movement speed is the most important early-game upgrade. The faster they can deliver medicine, the more animals you can process at once, leading to much higher scores.
Yes, every 10 levels you will encounter a 'VIP' (Very Important Pet) like a White Tiger or a Phoenix that requires special treatment steps.
This game is very addicting, so if you actually have something better to do, I wouldn’t recommend downloading it. That said, if you do try it, it’s pretty fun at least up to a point. It’s similar to a lot of other diner dash-style games. At first, the game feels fair. I didn’t even mind watching ads to get more time or points. I understand it’s a free app and ads are how they make money. However, once I reached the higher levels, I started noticing some issues that feel less like difficulty and more like the game actively cheating. It seems like the level difficulty or outcomes change based on how many jewels you use. In one “don’t lose a customer” level, I still had one customer left, but the game suddenly ended and told me I didn’t meet the goal, then tried to force me to watch an ad or spend jewels. In another type of level where you have to reach a certain amount, there were long stretches where no customers appeared at all, and the clock just ran out. The more I level up, the more this happens, which makes it feel like the game is becoming pay-to-play without actually admitting it. I’m not sure if this is a glitch or intentional, which is disappointing because the game is fun overall. I just don’t think the levels should be unfair or manipulated unless the app is upfront about being pay-to-play.
TLDR: Save your time and money, it gets too hard to win unless you pay real money for fake and ultimately useless boosts. I’m deleting this after level 29 on the 2nd map. Up until that point the game is fun and the right balance of stress with reward for passing. However, it becomes increasingly difficult and then just impossible to pass levels without having to pay for extra boosters. You don’t get enough coins after passing a level to be able to keep up with needed upgrades to win, like making patients more patient or extra equipment slots, but even then some of the upgrades barely even help and get canceled out by extremely short wait times. I wish they’d balance this out with the ability to go back and play levels, because even endless mode becomes impossible without paying to win (the only other way to get coins to progress). It just doesn’t make any sense. Fun while it lasted, on to the next.
I would really like to give this game more stars. It is super cute and the time management concept is great, but the game is simply unplayable. You get a few hundred coins from each level, but every item you need to upgrade is 2,000 coins and in order for the next level to be playable it requires multiple upgrades in multiple areas. The doctors won’t even come out and tend to patients half the time so people are taking up space blocking someone else. You only give 5 lives which go out immediately. You have to watch an ad for 30 extra seconds, but it only lasts 10. And watching 2 ads only gives you one extra life. The ads are so long. It takes 2 minutes to get through them and requires you to push multiple x buttons to get out of layers and layers of the ad. All of that to just lose again and watch more ads. I’m not even playing the game anymore because it’s all just losing and ads. You can’t frustrate people into giving you money. They will just leave a bad review and delete instead. There is no point to giving money when it only shows it eats everything up with no meaningful progress. Why are the endless ads not enough for you? It’s just making the app marketplace depressing. There are no real games anymore. This game is a wasted disappointment.
This game is sloppily made, without users or longevity in mind. It is initially fun & challenging, however, this game reaches a point where despite spending real money, having unlimited lives, & making upgrades does not bring you any closer to passing a level. You become stuck repeatedly playing the same level (not fun) using all your lives & coins, only to redeem 1/10 of earning on every failed level AND endless mode in previous cities. Redeeming at best, 100 coins on each failed level to make a single upgrade of ~1800, would take you 18 plays of the exact same level, only to still not pass. Not to mention that you only get 4 lives at a time. This is an insufficient model & the recommendation to play endless mode at the same pay rate & watch advertisements is an absolutely unacceptable recommendation on behalf of the game programmers. I would love to see them make SIGNIFICANT changes to the pay model in order for continuing to play this game to be worth my time. Otherwise, they’ll continue to see users walk away from this game & forget it because it’s simply not worth the wasted time, energy, or money.
Original review: Physically impossible to get past the 40th level without watching every video they throw at you (at least 13/day just for extra coins). And don’t forget the ads between each level, unless you pay to get those removed. Even then, you have to tirelessly play the “endless levels”, losing it over and over and over because that also gives you around 125 coins. It takes 1,200 coins for each upgrade, btw. Update: I’m so done with this game. Now it takes 2,000 coins for every upgrade, and each thing has to be upgraded 6x before you can even think about getting to the end of the world. Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun. But it’s not worth watching hundreds of ads and/or playing the same level 200x over just to be able to stay competitive in the game. Update:I thought for a minute they were going to give extra shifts where you could earn a decent amount of coins, but that must have been a glitch bc they took that away AS SOON as I posted my review praising their choice. These guys are way too greedy.
If you want a relaxing game, this is NOT it. The levels are too hard and ramp up too fast compared to the ability to get coins and make improvements. About level 30-31, it becomes impossible to win by watching lots of ads to get coins and goodies so you are forced to spent real dollars to effectively continue. I’ll watch ads, but you don’t receive enough coins from watching ads to be able to continue advancing through the levels / upgrades too cost too many coins. In responses to other reviews, the developer mentions the ability to replay each level more than once to earn coins. If I could earn coins this way, I would, but the app WILL NOT LET ME go back and replay any level I already completed…again, making it nearly impossible to earn enough coins to pass harder levels. Wish they’d add the ability to replay to earn coins. I’m giving up. Otherwise, I liked the concept. Let me know when you’ve sufficiently upgraded this app so there’s a way to earn coins faster without spending lots of real dollars, and I’ll reconsider. So very frustrating. :-(
So after working hard to earn enough coins to get a hospital update, I put my phone down and when I come back, my earned coins have disappeared. Considering that you only earn 10% of your score for every level you don’t beat, it takes a considerable amount of time to earn updates, especially with an algorithm where most of the rounds are unbeatable even with the use of bonuses until you play about 20 times. Once you advance in a city, the time gets less and the required score to advance just gets ridiculous. It gets to the point that the updates don’t even help advance your game so like what’s even the point? Doctor updates also stop being effective in gameplay after the first few. Lots of improvement to be made on this game but it’s fun in the beginning to play.
This game was a great way to pass the time and I genuinely enjoyed it for quite a while. It offered a reasonable level of challenge, and I didn’t mind putting in extra jobs to earn coins for upgrades…it felt fair and rewarding. However, the most recent update significantly reduced the number of coins earned from extra jobs and added a cap on how many extra jobs you can complete. This change makes it extremely difficult to earn enough to upgrade anything. Progress has slowed to the point where it can take days just to beat a single level, even after using all available boosts. It now feels like the game is pushing players to spend real money out of frustration rather than keeping the experience fun and balanced. That’s disappointing because it used to feel challenging in a good way. I hope the developers reconsider these changes.
