In this final chapter of the original Five Nights at Freddy's story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child, you must watch the doors and fend off threats from your closet or behind your bed. With no cameras to help you, you must rely on your sense of hearing to detect breathing or footsteps before using your flashlight, as the wrong move could lead to a jump-scare ending.

Our Expert Score

88/100

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is a terrifying departure for the series, moving the horror from a security office to a child's bedroom. This shift makes the experience feel much more personal and vulnerable. The removal of the camera system forces you to rely almost entirely on sound, which creates an unbearable level of tension. Every creak and breath could be your last.

The game is incredibly atmospheric, and the 'Nightmare' versions of the classic animatronics are genuinely disturbing. The lore revealed through the 8-bit minigames is tragic and deepens the mystery of the series. It’s a masterclass in audio-based horror that will keep you on the edge of your seat (or hiding under your covers). It's easily one of the most stressful games in the franchise.

AMAZING!!!

Scott, your FNAF series will always be some of my favourite video games. I admit, I shed a couple (a lot) of tears when I heard that it was over. These games were undoubtedly worth my time and my money from beginning to end. Concerning this app however, I was only slightly disappointed to find that I was not able to experience the lore minigames about the crying child, like the ones in this exact game on the PC. Hopefully someday you'll put that in. Another thing was, when I ran back and forth between doors during gameplay, I kept noticing a series of footsteps that sounded sort of like mine but a little faster and they would travel from left to right and vice versa. They kinda mess with my head when I'm trying to concentrate on all other tasks at hand. I really don't know what they are; if they're a bug or if they belong to Foxy or some other entity. But hopefully, if they ARE a bug, then it will be fixed in the future. If not, I'll just have to figure out about it on my own. Other than these two minor problems, the game was top notch and creepy as heck, just how I love your games. I would easily recommend this game to anyone who loves a good scare. :) keep at it Scott! You're a great man.

definitely needs fixer-uppers

okay so let me clear things up. the concept of this game is amazing, and i like that they made things scarier and that you can actually move around. but there’s a few problems. number one, sound. in order to even play, you require sound. and thats a great idea, but not all the time is it so great. you can’t always hear the breathing, especially on chica’s side. it makes the game unplayable basically if you can’t hear the breathing—you would just be playing a guessing game at that point. so please fix the audio cues. number two, bugs/glitches. the game works and runs very well, and I definitely have enough storage for it. but sometimes when i play the game crashes—specifically around times when i have to shut the door because i heard breathing coming from an animatronic. it might just be something wrong with my device, considering that i read most of the one star reviews and few to none said any crashes happened during gameplay, but maybe it’s the game itself. lastly, sometimes the game shows up pixelated which might also be a problem with my device but the other fnaf games worked fine. night 8 is also a problem with a lot of people including me, with nightmare killing you through the door and stuff. again, i wanna say i think this game is still very well made and i am not trying to say it’s horrible, but instead saying Scott needs to make some improvements to this game. thank you for reading my horrendously long review and have a nice morning, evening or night. - lance

Listen Up! Please read Scott

Ok, first of all let me just say that this game is AMAZING and NOBODY should be complaining otherwise - Scott did an amazing job in doing a port version of this game. Does it have bugs? Yes - but let's be honest, what game dosnt? Nobody should be complaining about "lag" because it's not lag. Creating a game as big as this with this many animations is more work than it seems - and our small devices aren't exactly super computers so of course the fps will be a bit slow. I would recommend fixing the glitch where you can here your footsteps repeatedly when u walk to the closet or one of the doors - along with the breathing audio. A audio boost wouldn't hurt 😜 But what I'm trying to get at, is that people should stop complaining. Yes their are bugs, but if you were making a game as big as this, I'd like to see YOU make a game 100% perfect with 0 bugs. Scott, I love your work - I hope that one day you can reveal the truth to the games lore such as: who is the purple guy, what is the timeline, and how does everything fit together? Thank your for your time to read this, and I'm giving this game five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️what it rightfully deserves 😄

Amazing and MAD SCARY!

Holy cow, every time I play this amazingly fun g game it makes my heart beat faster and makes my palms sweat. Every time I check the door I’m half expecting another ear shattering elephant roar jumpscare. On night three right now and even though most say on this night N. Foxy doesn’t enter the closet before 3 am he always does and enters around 1 or so. You have to focus on him all the time once he’s in there and I never have time to check on Bonnie or Chica though (and thats how I ended up with a Bonnie death)sometimes I can check Freddy real quick. A few things though: I know a lot of people say this but when you run to check the door or closet you hear a pitter patter running that sounds similar to your footsteps. Is this a bug or something? If so be the Goat again and fix it. Thank you! Also the reason I die so much is that I don’t know what footsteps and breathing sound like. Can you make it a little louder please? Or can you just put those sounds in the options menu? And can you make it so you can also buy the cheats? That way it would make the game a little less paranoing and scary and I would play more often! Thanks again for reading, Scott!

Very Good and Hard

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 is a series of events. Happening from minigame to survival leading to jumpscares! You have expert ways on how to not get jumpscare. Especially The Freddles. You really have to have a good volume on your device to hear them. How to play. Nightmare Freddy: Whenever his Freddles appear on the bed shine your flashlight on them to keep them at bay. Nightmare Bonnie: He will appear at the Left Door he will have less breathing which makes it harder to hear. Whenever he is there shut the door on him and if you don’t check the door he will jumpscare you from your room. Nightmare Chica: Basically what Bonnie’s Tactics are but she has heavier breathing which makes it easier to listen, she can also send her cupcake into the room if you don’t check the door. Nightmare Foxy: He will start out in the hall and enter the closet. He will start as a plushie and then turn into a head then he will be looking out of the closet. Flash your light on him to make him calm down. Plushtrap: You have a 120 second timer to catch him. He will go into the rooms and if you catch him perfectly on the “X” You will get 2 Hours ahead on your night. If you don’t you will get jumpscared. Nightmare Fredbear: He is the main boss. He can appear from anywhere. Left Door, Right Door, Closet and The Bed. For the doors he will be further back but you have to have a fast reaction. For the closet shine it on him really fast. And for the bed shine it on him fast. In the Halloween DLC Animatronics became more Halloweenish. Jack O Bonnie replaced Nightmare Bonnie, Jack O Chica replaced Nightmare Chica, Nightmare Mangle replaced Nightmare Foxy, Nightmare Balloon Boy replaced Plushtrap and Nightmare replaced Nightmare Fredbear. With the same tactics. There was a new big boss added in named Nightmarionne which is basically Nightmare Puppet. So overall a very good game like it!

Wow.

What a game. This game is scarier that the first three. Not because the animatronics are scary, but that the atmosphere is scary. Behind you you have to check the bed every now and then, which gives you a feeling that something is going to get you from behind without you knowing, or that when you turn around, you could die. Also, the game for most who don't know takes place in a house, and you are playing a little kid, and the animatronics are in the house with you. There's also no cameras, and when you go to check the door, you fear that something will jump out at you and kill you, ending your game. This is my favorite in the series and is a must get. UPDATE (Night 3): After playing for awhile, the game is still good, it's just that I am hearing multiple footsteps that appear to be mine, but I am not moving. I do not know if the other footsteps are another animatronic or just a glitch. This is the same problem for the door. The creaking happens when it is supposed to but it also happens after you open the door.

A little room for improvement

Don't get me wrong I love these games the fear of not knowing if the animatronics are almost there you door or not really makes the game fun and the lore is very interesting and well hidden by Scott but in this port there are multiple glitches that are fatal for gameplay I mean you must hear every little thing or else it's game over and one of the glitches is when you run to the door it creates a looping sound of your footsteps making you think that the animatronics are running but it's just a looping glitch witch can throw you off big time. But it's not just about the sound on night 5+ you have to protect yourself against nightmare or Fred-bear witch requires you to look for him almost there your door and react fast witch is hard because when you are running to the door and when you are looking into the halls the game lags and I have a really fast smooth phone so it can't be just me experiencing this and this also makes the game hard for you. But that's really all of the problems that I'm experiencing so I have that Scott can patch these glitches in the next update

Love it and it's amazing and I want to say this

I loved this series but Scott I done research and you left clues that has the number 5 in it and correct me if I'm wrong but I think FNAF 5 will be about SpringTrap since in FNAF 3 at the end if you brighten up the picture in the newspaper, it's shows SpringTrap in the background, what does this mean? It's means FNAF 5 is about what happened to SpringTrap and if he became PlushTrap in FNAF 4 than in FNAF 5 shouldn't it tell how SpringTrap became the Mini game we play in FNAF 4 called "Fun with SpringTrap!" I find this very unlikely that SpringTrap is PlushTrap because what we see in FNAF 3 we see The Purple Guy run from the 5 dead children and get into and the SpringTrap suit and die and because of this if SpringTrap is PlushTrap than what happened to The Body of The Purple Guy? and as we all know That the kid in FNAF 4 is The Puppet, we still don't know what is inside of the box at the end of FNAF 4 which maybe revealed in FNAF 5 but is very unlikely. Maybe FNAF 5 will take place in Fredbear's Family Diner where it all started. We will never know... Until FNAF 5 comes out.
