Updated for latest AppStore guidelines
Five Kings is a solid digital adaptation of the popular 'Five Crowns' style card game. It’s a rummy-style game with a twist: the number of cards dealt increases each round, and the 'Wild' card changes based on the number of cards in your hand. This keeps you constantly on your toes, as a card that was useless in round 3 might be your ticket to winning in round 10. The AI is competent enough to provide a challenge, though the real fun is in the pass-and-play or online modes.
The UI is functional, if a bit plain. It prioritizes clarity and ease of use over flashy animations, which I actually prefer for a card game. It’s a great way to enjoy a classic tabletop experience without having to shuffle a massive deck or find a large enough table. If you enjoy games like Phase 10 or traditional Rummy, Five Kings is a dependable and well-executed choice for your mobile library.
11-round progressive gameplay
Dynamic wild card system
Challenging AI opponents
Clear, easy-to-read card designs
Statistics and score tracking
Don't get too attached to a single strategy early in the round. Since the wild card changes every round, always check which card is wild before discarding!
The goal is to have the lowest total score after 11 rounds. Even if you lose a round, keeping your unplayed card values low can save your overall ranking.
The app supports up to 4 players in local pass-and-play mode, or you can play solo against three AI opponents.
How do you delete players? If I could get rid of all these extras I don’t want to play with anymore I would love this game
I started playing Five Kings with friends and am glad to have a place to practice and understand the rules better.
Needs online play. I want to play my family and friends (who are not in the same room) not against the computer or myself. Interface is uninteresting and confusing. Don’t see a way to arrange my hand the way I want to. I will keep looking for a better version of five crowns as this one is lacking.
Everytime you as a player “win” the game, it crashes. You never actually “win” because it never technically finished the game. However, it never crashes when the ai wins a game. Almost as if they designed it so only the ai can win.
Love this version of 5 kings. Easy and fun time waster. 🙂
Five Crowns is a family favorite, so it's great to be able to play on my phone whenever I want! I can pass the phone back and forth with my friends too. Maybe the next version can play against other devices?
How do you stop it from playing in challenging mode. I put it in hard and it keeps switching to challenging
On 2018 iPad Pro and iPhone 14 ProMax: The option to select game difficulty does not work and the bottom, right corner question icon, and the! Icons when pressed do not function.
