Great, just two really annoying, and a few minor problems
Thu Jun 08 2023 ☆♪◉

I would like to quickly state that I (who never played basic) don’t exactly feel like I’m ‘missing out’ on the other bits of lore which is in basic, but for all I know theres a lot I’m missing. But onto the things that bug me, first I want to say almost everything is absolutely (and I quote) Amazing~! ☆. There are only two problems I can say that really bug me, one the event times are a bit short, I mean nine days for a singular event? That’s a nightmare, especially if you have work/school and if you have extracurricular activities in school. Two, the infinite/expert lives are kinda… horrible, like the rewards are great, but the thing is if you full/perfect combo a song on there you don’t get the actual rewards from the song (an example I can think of off the top of my head is around level 60~65 I got Enthralling Theatre and I all perfected it, but it never appeared on the actual song thing and I didn’t get the 50 gems from it either. I also believe I was just lucky so I’ve been trying to get the all perfect but failing miserably.) That’s really all~ EDIT: Okay so I realized a way to ‘bypass’ the second problem is just putting on auto mode

I have some feedback and some ideas!

First of all, great game, i love your characters, the storyline, and the music/lives, and everything else! The characters first, I love them they are so creative and i love the costumes. Just one thing about the characters i think there could be more of them, and maybe more groups? Maybe you can make bigger groups and more content with them like a major update! Second the storyline, it’s so good! but i feel like it needs a touch like maybe some things to actually do except sing live? Which speaking of live.. Third is live, there are SUCH GOOD SONGS WHOEVER WROTE THEM AND CHOREOGRAPHED THEM SHOULD GET PROMOTED! I mean seriously they are freaking good! But i think we could expand on that though.. Maybe me and my brother were thinking it would be cool if when you messed up a lyric or something it would also affect the members too, that would be so cool! Okay next just some random things i think i want you to add okay here a list of stuff maybe and i’ll talk more about it. -More scout stuff? and make it longer? I think we need more limited scouts that can last longer and maybe so more people have a chance, make the chances of getting 5 stars harder! -Speaking of that i think you should make more cards. I think there should be more 5 stars and more of the other stars! Anyways I love this game and keep working on it give me feedback when you read this!

A fun and enjoyable idol/rhythm game
Thu Jun 16 2022 korkiancult

As an avid rhythm game fan, when I saw this in my recommended games section, I had to download it. I had vaguely heard of Ensemble Stars on the Internet, and it appeared to be your average idol rhythm game. However, this game was more delightful than I expected. The tutorial explains the games functions in a brief yet understandable manner, and the game’s UI is very simple and clean. As for the characters, there are a multitude of idol groups to choose from, and the voice acting is pretty good. The songs are catchy and the 3D MV’s are top tier (like seriously, the MV’s blew me away with how smooth the animation was). The actual rhythm game part took me a bit to get used to, but is pretty fun when you get the hang of it. (I also like how you can customize the note look and sound) At the time of writing this, the game has only been released for a couple of weeks, so some parts of the game are still locked (like the Ensemble Live function). My only complaint (which is opinionated) is that there are a LOT of characters, like almost too many. It’s hard to level up each card because there’s a lot of them, but this is more of a personal problem for me because I’m a completionist and like having every card maxed out. Overall, a very fun game that every rhythm game enthusiast should play (or anybody, really).

give arashi her pronouns back
Sat Aug 03 2024 Somebody in this universe

Leaving this in light of recent story translations being incredibly disappointing. It is wild to me that in a game trying to capture an English-speaking audience, the stories are filled with all kinds of mistakes when no other regional server for this game has the same issue! As an English-speaking fan I feel kind of disrespected, you want our support yet can barely offer the same quality you give to other players? As a fan from before this game even had official English release, I was really excited to see the official site acknowledges Arashi’s gender identity and refers to her with she/her pronouns. I and many other fans are incredibly disappointed by the choice to not continue with this, to the point of outright censoring lines in recent events that imply Arashi is not cisgender. The most recent scout incorrectly referred to Arashi with “him” and was then changed to “Narukami”. So you can admit that using masculine pronouns is incorrect, but refuse to keep in the context that explains why that is? There’s also the fact Negi’s gender was completely censored, which is just such a bizarre decision. Just totally removing vital information about a character for no reason. I think the highlight of enstars is its stories, so it’s kind of heartbreaking to see the official English release go this badly. I would love to see the game continue, but if this is the quality of the translations we get, I doubt most fans will bother playing.

Unbearably bad localization and translation.

In terms of the actual game- characters, gameplay, story- I am a big fan of Ensemble Stars. However, as a Japanese speaker who is simultaneously listening to the voice lines while reading the story, I was taken aback at what a poor job the team did on localization and translations. It doesn’t help that the story comes with an already-established plot that one would have to go to outside of the game to fully get a grasp of. But everything from the dialogue of the game to basic menu controls is translated in a way that’s so clunky that sometimes I have to read the same line several times to even understand what is going on. Some translations are too literal, some are just flat out wrong. For characters like Rei that use vocabulary words over a middle school level, you can clearly see the inadequacies of the translating team because they do not know how to properly use the words in a sentence. It honestly seems that 1) a lot of these are machine translated, or 2) translated from Chinese rather than Japanese, and 3) do not have a native English speaker or editor reviewing any of the translations. This level of translation is truly unacceptable for such a large franchise. It’s laughably bad and insulting to fans who spend money on the game. I can’t recommend this game to anyone, and won’t be spending money on it until they improve the quality of the translations.

Amazing Story But…

The main story of ALKALOID had me intensely staring at my screen for 5 days straight, 20 some hours I felt my time had been spent productively. However my only story gripe is like in a small few chapters especially in monologues, the characters tend to repeat what they had just said, clear signs of translation mismanagement, I would say dedicate more time to improving the dialogue in that regard, pay your translators and visual novel creators more. Other than story the gacha system, it’s absolutely horrible. More so the lack of in game currency. Definitely predatory if you’re looking to get any specific characters. The distribution of upgrade material as well, but this is typical of gacha games that they incentivize you to play every single day. But just because it’s typical doesn’t make it okay, I’d say fix this as well because it actually pushes a lot of players mid advancement away from the game. Despite my criticisms I love this game especially the gameplay, art, and story. Also ignore the vocal community of this game, they’re so unnecessarily loud and obnoxious.

Terrible Company
Mon Oct 03 2022 ...__---...

I’m writing this review in response to the recent mistake on one of their in-game purchases. I think it’s fine to make mistakes, but the way Happy Elements is handling it is just terrible and embarrassing. The in-game purchase I’m referring to is a limited time pack that came with the collaboration event. Not only did they reveal the supposedly “correct” version of the pack to have significantly less value than the incorrect one, but they have deducted the resources from people who already spent the items from the pack as well as incorrectly overcharged. This has left people in the negatives in regards to premium in-game currencies, and people have ultimately paid more for less due to false advertising. Think about that: the developers are punishing PAYING players for a mistake they made. Thankfully, I wasn’t affected by this specifically, but hearing about it from so many people around me is disheartening. It’s clear that the developers care more about money than anything. I would recommend this game in terms of gameplay and the characters, but be weary of spending any money. It’s also obvious that overall quality is not their main focus (i.e. terrible translations) and it’s possible that you may get scammed like so many others. I spent a good chunk of money before this incident but that’s all stopping here.

Truthfully

This games art / music and characters are pretty fun. I was having so much fun until the first event came. The insane grind to get event rewards will drive me nuts. It should drive most people nuts but I guess they just deal with it. You have people online saying to set an alarm every few hours to maximize points. Yikes. Plus not to mention needing dupes to limit break your unit to go above their max level. Then throw in grinding out idol road. There is a lot to love here but the grind kills it. Ah man and even just literally leveling up your units is a pain. You get Exp ticket drops but they give you barely any xp. I’ve been playing for a week and only have 3 level 60 and the free level 70. I can’t imagine how long it would take maybe years to even level up half of my account. It basically ruins pulling units. Bc you will never want to waste resources unless it’s meta unit since it’s so hard to get the resources in first place. Ps to give you an idea the devs gave us 100 free stamina whistle for the event ( I thought oh how nice ) well I’ve used all 100 of those whistles ( so now it’s only diamonds for energy refill ) and guess what , I’m only on page 3 barely half way through with event rewards lol. I know the community loves this game but just yikes.
