I’ve never written a review for a game before but this one is worth it. The game took a little time to get used to and at first it was easy to feel lost with no clear direction to go in to advance story lines or quests. I’ll admit that I stopped playing for a bit because it was rather frustrating. However once you get past that learning curve the game really does take off with so much to do. The character building is detailed and very customizable which makes you feel like you’re in control of how you want to play rather than simply getting more powerful with each new level gained. The leveling of your character ties directly into the battle mechanics as well so even fighting can feel different if you focus on different skills with a new party. Also the fact that there are no in-app purchases or ads is amazing. Nothing kills a game for me like a pop up every so often interrupting the gameplay. Great game I definitely recommend it if you don’t mind taking a little extra time to learn the mechanics at first.
As a classic Final Fantasy fan, I really was on the search for a classic rpg style game that didn’t try to bleed you dry of every penny you have…. This game is just perfect, exactly what the doctor ordered. Its fun, you can play through it multiple times, plenty of treasure to find, and a one time fee to own the game and play it whenever rather than being charged for more features later. The mechanics of the game take a little getting used to, as it isn’t a normal turn based fighting style. It’s a combination of that and actually moving around. Once you get used to it, then you really can start having fun with it by choosing new classes. I would absolutely recommend any classic rpg fan to buy this game. It’s well worth the couple bucks
This game has a lot of love put into it, and you can tell the developer put a lot of effort. For the amount of replayability, this game is a bargain. It isn’t graphically the most advanced, and there are huge spikes in combat difficulty at certain parts that will catch you off guard, but it is worth it. You can save scum to try and get the best loot. You can choose to grind and grind to raise skills / spells (will take short of forever for skills that are usable only a few times a day). Or you can spend your talent points on them to get a quick boost to your combat power at the expense of saving points to boost your stats or learning new skills / spells (need to find trainers or spell books). There is a LOT of functions that you can do. Combat is probably the weakest point (why can a monk only use a cestus but not knuckles?). Would be nice to put talents into HP and SP as well if desired. Would be nice to have obstacles in combat. Seeing projected turn order easily would also be nice. Overall a solid B+, and amazing that just one person put it together.
Check other reviews if you want something about the game - other than I recommend you check it out on PC as well. The guy (I'm pretty sure it's just one dude too) who makes this offers new content in free updates all the time. It's on the level of the people that made Shovel Knight, or like CDProjekt Red. New classes, a whole new chapter, new weapon types. The list goes on. Maybe it's not the absolute best, most polished game out there, but it's clear the developer poured his heart and soul into the game, and it shows. Plus, it's getting better all the time. Top tier game, I play it on PC but bought it on mobile again just to support the dude. Great work, if only more of the games industry were like you.
This game has a great old school dnd feel to it, like the kind of games I used to play in the 90’s as a kid. Lots of depth and complexity to the games battle mechanics. I was ignoring the auto battle feature at first but soon realized that doing everything manually is tedious and that the auto behaviors are programmable so you can auto and still have your party fight intelligently - it’s fun to watch them go at it and only have to pause and intervene in key moments. The icons are a little small but if you play on iPad it’s not noticeable. I’d say it’s definitely worth the price - I have Icewind Dale on my mobile but usually prefer to play this!
When I first got this game I loved the simple 2-d design but was quickly amazed by the actual depth to the story and the combat system. The different types of classes and party combinations means hour of replay ability plus one of the few games with no in app purchases. The online community around this game is always quick to respond and help out new players and getting updates from the actual creators is extremely nice. 5/5 would buy again and will be gifting this game to friends.
Bought this game to keep occupied during COVID. Needed an RPG fix and the reviews were good. What a pleasant surprise. The creator of this game is so intent on making a quality game with help built right in if you desire. The gameplay is intuitive but not easy. You may have to grind a bit to take out the bigger baddies, but super satisfying. I don’t often pay for games, but this one has easily paid for itself already. Keep up the great work, and I’ll keep buying. Easy 5 stars
I originally got this game due to a bit of nostalgia from being a fan of Ultima and Final Fantasy back in the day. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this has so much more going on under the hood than just being a retro game! Great story with fantastic character customization and combat. Exceptional replay value and very supportive community on Facebook. I’ve spent more time playing this game than many I’ve paid $40-60 for! I absolutely recommend this without hesitation.
