Our Expert Score

94/100

Disney Twisted-Wonderland is a masterclass in world-building and character design. It's essentially a 'villain academy' RPG where the dormitories are inspired by legendary Disney villains like Scar, Maleficent, and Ursula. The story is penned by Yana Toboso (the creator of Black Butler), and her influence is everywhere—from the sharp, gothic-inspired character designs to the intricate, often dark, narrative. The game is part visual novel, part rhythm game, and part turn-based RPG, which keeps the experience from ever feeling stale.

The voice acting is top-tier, featuring famous Japanese VOs that bring these complex 'villains' to life. Even if you aren't a hardcore Disney fan, the school-life drama and the mysteries of Night Raven College are incredibly addictive. My only minor gripe is the grind required to level up your player rank through 'lessons,' but the short LP refill time makes it easy to check in throughout the day. If you enjoy character-driven stories with high production values, this is one of the best titles on the market.

5 Stars, for a reason.

I’ve only been playing this game for three days now, but i’ve been playing nonstop, every day, for those three days. The only problem with this game is that it’s too addicting. The story is great, the characters are incredible, the voice acting (as far as i can tell) is incredible, the mini games are really fun, the event(s) brings out a lot in characters you might not usually get to know or interact with, and ultimately i’ve been having a lot of fun with this app. I don’t think i’ve ever written a review for a game, ever, but today’s the day, i guess. I love how in each story, so many characters get involved. I love how you can unlock little chats with the characters when you study, that gives you a little insight on their personalities. It’s just- so fun. Everything about it is so fun, you never get bored, you never want to put it down. My actual only problem is how little points for your level you get from studying. I don’t mean the point to level up characters, i mean the points to level up YOU. It takes too long (in my opinion) to level up, and you do more studying than playing at some points. It’s a good way to have people kind of relax though, take a break from the main story or even the game itself. When i’m out of LP, i put the game down, which is probably a good thing because of how much i’ve been playing lol. The fandom is super funny and i’ve yet to meet anyone that isn’t super nice. Overall, 10/10, 5 stars, I love this game.

Exceptional Storyline!!

I have never written a review for a game before, but honestly this game deserves it so much! The plot of the game is very very addictive and you’ll find yourself connecting with the characters a lot too. The voice acting, oh my god, is chef’s kiss for sure. I love how you can unlock exclusive stories for your favorite characters and how so many different characters are involved in the main story, so even if it’s more focused on a specific character you can still see your favorites. I was really happy about this because my favorite character is Riddle Rosehearts and his main story is the first one so I was worried I wouldn’t be able to see him much in the story after that. The events in the game are also very fun to play and they give you a deeper understanding of all the characters, plus you can get free cards sometimes for completing the events. The refill time for your lp which helps you take lessons to upgrade your cards and unlock stories is pretty short which is good for the player who will spend hours on there and every time your rank increases you get free lp. I think my only complaint about the game is that you need 300 gems to get a 10 pull. If your lazy like me, then it will take you awhile to get that many gems because I’m like trying to just speedrun the story without actually upgrading cards and my rank and things like that. But other than that, it’s a spectacular game and you need to give it a home in your home screen right now!!

Almost perfect!

I would say 5 stars if the game continued like it did the prologue or book 1 if you barely had to do lessons or didn't at all. And it's like you get anything much from the lessons anyway it's just one thing or two if your lucky. I barley can focuse on the storyline from being hit with having to do some many lessons to level up it's actually ridiculous. I thought it was a nice distraction or break at first from the story line but now its boring and annoying. I wouldn't mind if we didn't have to spend. 60 sugars or more to reach the next level or next to continue the storyline and we actually had good rewards. But it's just a useless and boring feature I hope they make an update that removes this all togather, make it easier to level up with ten or more lessons or just not have this feature in the the next game if they do make another game like obey me did. It's a waste of time and so annoying and I rest my case. But the rest of the game is fun and I do love the characters and their snapped forms it's so cool and beautiful character designs and art. All with different spice and kind of spin so even it is the same plot it's still fun to see why they snap all having very fair reasons it's hard to hate them for it. Expectations, pressure or being misunderstood. I love it and it's so cute, if we get another game and we see the hero's corruption while still being in the same college that be amazing. I love to see the corrupted version of Alice or Tina this world versions forms but I'm just throwing in my two cents.

Awesome!

This game is addicting and fun. I first thought it was going to be an Otome game as it seemed in previews it was going to go that route, however, I really like that it’s more battle oriented as well as rhythm. (I am not good at rhythm but I enjoy it still lol!) O have no complaints about it whatsoever. The events are fun, and you have the Gatcha. What I noticed is people are complaining about that it costs to get the 10 card pull but if you actually look at it, it uses the free gems first. If you want to do the single pull once a day it costs 10 paid gems just for that one time but the one pull for 30 gems is used from your free gems as well. People need to realize that. Yes I buy gems once a month, does it kill my wallet? No. There are ways to get free gems throughout the gameplay. Knowing this will I still spend money? Absolutely. I believe in supporting the developers as they worked hard on this game. It takes a lot of time and patience and the developers deserve the money. Is it a choice to do so? Absolutely, but that is my choice and I’m sticking with it. I’m not going to complain over small things. The stories are amazing and of course only Disney could make such heart wrenching backstories of the characters. As I always say, Disney, if it’s not your movies it is definitely this game. You get us all the time! Lol! I actually reread some of them because I can and I love the development of the characters. Please continue on the beautiful work! Both graphically and story wise! Love you guys!

10/10. Amazing story, characters, and just an amazing game.

I’ve never written a review before, but for this one I had to. I’m a recent player, but I have been keeping up with this game for about a year. The game’s characters were what intrigued me when I first heard about the game. It fascinated me how they could create a game with loose, male versions of famous Disney villains, but they played it extremely well. I love how the story’s always show symbolisms to the original story, and how the characters portray the traits and feelings of the actual villain. The story is fascinating, too. How they play each book and how each story is developed and delved into and creates meaning for everyone involved is an amazing part of the game. The story goes into those based off the villains and shows how they link to the character because of how the story is portrayed in the universe of “Twisted Wonderland”. The fights are extremely fun, too and push your limits. I remember when I fought (spoiler) overblot Riddle, I won on my fifth try. It took leveling and developing my characters to do it, and even then, our health was always head to head. If he had strikes me first at the end, I would have been gone. But luckily, my characters turn was first . The “twistunes” are quite fascinating as well. Very entertaining to play and replay even just for fun. I could say so much more, but that’s all. Amazing game, highly recommended!

Absolutely incredible

This game is literally my new hyper fixation. I told myself I’d get into it for literally forever after seeing it at Anime NYC a couple years back, but I never started it until just recently, and I love it. The rules of the world make a ton of sense in terms of balancing and limiting power, and I love the world building itself. I feel like I can get to really know each character, whom all are deeply flawed but somehow easily lovable, with plenty opportunities outside of the main story to delve deeper if you want to. While there are some parts I feel like I just have to wait through, like the lessons, the overall gameplay is interactive enough to keep me engaged. Don’t even get me started on the art, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I like drawing, but I can only dream of the talent they get to work on this game, it’s just so pleasing to look at. The main story itself is so creative in essentially retelling the classic Disney stories in such a new setting. The “books” are not too short in that you feel like you need outside content to know the characters or be satisfied with the story, but not too long to feel like they drag on. If you like retelling style narratives, like Descendants, Land of Stories, Monster High, Ever After High, School for Good and Evil, or even magic school stuff like Harry Potter, odds are, you’ll love Twisted Wonderland (I’ll stop yapping now, I just love this game)

Interesting story!

Been playing for a couple of days and honestly the story is the best part for me and keeping me hooked. The turn base battle and music notes features for the game is cute but not the most interesting part for me. It’s cool how the first gacha pull in the tutorial ensures you get an SSR since you can retry however many times you want for that first time. I don’t love the paid vs. free gems but like another reviewer said if it’s just one of the few ways for the company to make money, it’s okay. One thing I would really like the game to add is a way to do a bunch of lessons in an instant or much faster than just autoing. And the fact that you can only loop with the items on is a bit weird for me. The art for the game is clean and cute (chibi style for the battle and music modes), although a lot of the guys aren’t my type which is fine since this isn’t an otome game and focuses on story lol. I must say it is just a personal thing for me but the English translation really doesn’t fit well with the jpn voices at times and takes some personal liberties in trying to relate to their English audience I guess. It does get a bit slower in trying to raise your cards power cause it’s hard to get enough materials and high enough cards without grinding which is what I’m going through right now. Overall, it’s a good start to the game and I plan on continue playing for a bit and would recommend for people to at least check it out.

Interesting Twist

This game is very enjoyable and fun. Looking at the designs of each character and getting to know each of their stories is very imaginative and fun. Even the original 7 Disney characters and how others see them for their own stories is also a very nice twist. If you like rhythm and turn-based games that deals with cards this game is definitely for you. However, I couldn’t continue being interested because of the choices aspect of the game. I know this isn’t an otome game and it doesn’t have to be but to give us choices that don’t matter in the end is disappointing. No matter what you choose it doesn’t affect the outcome nor does it make you closer to any of the characters(not romance, more of friendship type of closer) It was very hard for me to stay interested in the game, I can tell it is very story based and I enjoy that and the story as well but what I don’t understand is why make you pick choices if they don’t matter. I understand you want the player to be more involved but what’s the point if we rarely get involved in the conversation. This aspect of the game made it really hard to stay interested I enjoyed the battles and the rhythm aspect but when I get to the story I honestly get bored. It’s a good story but because you added the choices aspect I’m going to expect my choice to have a different outcome than the other one. I gave this game a 3 star review because of the design and story but this being a Disney game disappointed me greatly.
