Design Home is the gold standard for interior design games. It’s less about 'playing a game' and more about being part of a creative community. Using high-end, real-world furniture brands like West Elm and Kathy Kuo Home makes the designs feel professional and aspirational.
The voting system is the heart of the experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to see your design get a high star rating from other players. It genuinely helps you develop an eye for color coordination and room layout. For anyone with even a passing interest in home decor, this app is addictive and visually stunning.
Decorate with real-world furniture from top brands
Daily design challenges in unique locations
Community voting and star rating system
Unlock rewards and exclusive decor items
Design your own personal 'My Homes' projects
To get a 5-star rating, pay attention to the challenge requirements. If a room asks for 'Contemporary' furniture, sticking to that style will generally yield better scores. Try to balance your colors—if you use a bold rug, keep the sofa neutral to avoid overwhelming the voters.
Voting on other players' designs is the best way to earn 'Keys,' which are required to enter new challenges. Successfully completing challenges earns you 'Diamonds' and exclusive furniture items that you can use in your future designs.
Yes, many of the items in the game are digital representations of actual furniture available for purchase in real life.
First I will start by saying, I do love this game! I've been playing daily for over a year. My only real complaints are: 1: Diamonds are too difficult to get ahold of. If all artwork, plants and decor can only be purchased with diamonds, and you only get 500 a day, (artwork averaging $900 a piece, table decor averaging $500) it makes it nearly impossible to design the way you'd like to. It would be nice if there were at least some options you could pay cash with. 2: I am often overloaded with pieces of furniture I would never use. It would be nice to have an option where we could sell unwanted furniture for cash, so we could purchase things we actually want. I wouldn't have a problem spending $8000 on a couch, but I'm certainly not going too, when I have 100 couches in my inventory to use (half of them are purple or teal), so I make do with what I have so that I can at least get rid of it. 3: Voting definitely seems a little off to me, but I know you have no control over what people actually vote for, but I do agree that it should perhaps be rounded up if a room gets a certain amount of votes. I know I try to actually read the description of what I'm supposed to be voting for, and I generally overlook horrific artwork placement, because I'm certain that's all they have to work with because of the ridiculous prices and diamond only purchasing. I mean, who in the real world is spending $500 for a little table decor? Or $900 on a plant?
UPDATE Woo! My Home was added to weekly challenges, I am so happy! I love the monthly $5 tier rewards. Nothing major financially, yet a huge benefit to my inventory. LOVE IT! Still hoping for inventory to be filtered by shape, like tables and rugs: square, round, rectangle, oblong. I would super appreciate borrowing from all my friends before the like long rest. Every time I borrow an item, there is a cool down time before I can access the borrow feature. I appreciate after that cool down I can still borrow from my other friends, but I would love if I could borrow from everyone, and THEN the cool down kicks in. Loving all the changes so far, especially including designers in the challenges. Excited to see where else the app will go! Maybe the tiles could be movable one day, <3 ORIGINAL I have consistently played this game longer than many other apps. I love the options, styles and series challenges that offer diverse designing obstacles. I’m hoping for improved filtering of the furniture such as by table or rug shape or chair height. I would adore more color options in all the categories as well as more specific style types. Boho and minimalistic, for example, are missing. One other improvement I truly hope for more table art and floor decor options especially. The former especially is lacking. If the amount of home points for the My Homes section could increase more often, I would start putting money into this game. That is my favorite part of this app. Thank you so much for all the hard work!
I’ve been playing this game for many years and absolutely adore it. I do one design each day for the most part. Unfortunately it has become impossible to play unless you’re spending quite a bit of money. The bundle prices have increased from $2.99t-$4.99 to $9.99.. for the new design packages. On top of that, the design themes have increased weekly, so there are new designs, and to participate in the daily design, one needs to change the design to the new design packages to make their design coherent and work with the colors presented. In short, this encourages/forces the player. to buy new items much more often, to be able to make a coherent design within the daily design colors presented. This feels and is predatory. As a longtime player who enjoyed the game for years I am spending twice as much money as I have in the past to enjoy the same amount of game perks and purchases. and if I don’t, I am left out in the cold. If I wish to enjoy the game in the same way, I have I would have to buy more expensive bundles more often especially to participate at the level I had reached over the past 4 years. It is a financially substantial increase and my respect for the app designers/representatives who have designed a beautiful and seamless game has decreased greatly. What a shame. In my humble opinion, it is getting way too expensive to play. Moving on.
Update: so I’m a few days in playing everyday and like others have said, I’m at a stand still because I’m low on money. When you do a design challenge you get cash, but then you have to turn right around and spend that cash in order to do another design challenge Bc it has certain requirements you have to meet. There are very few challenges where there are no requirements. I also do not like the fact that you have to keep repurchasing items after 5 uses. Voting also is by other users, so most people are probably just voting for what they personally like and not viewing the design and making sure it matches the description/requirements. It’s still a fun and relaxing game, when you’re able to play it. I downloaded another design game but you had to play mini games in order to collect enough money to design. This game is all about designing, no “other” games to play in order to design. I’m only a level 3 designer right now since I just downloaded, but at level 4 more things unlock. I absolutely love getting to design a room and then you submit it to have it rated/scored by others. I think it’s from other players? You also have a gallery of all the designs you did so you can look back at them if you want, which I thought was cool. You do have to choose wisely about purchases or you will run low on money. I’m not sure how you gain money again yet, maybe by completing challenges and getting good scores. Anyway, I’m only on day 2 of playing and I LOVE IT!
I have truly enjoyed using this app as home decorating is really something I love. but lately, the app has been losing connection a lot and glitching. An item I had received as a prize would not show up on the screen when I selected to use it. I tried it several times and in one of my design entries, it completely eliminated my ability to even use another item in it’s place. It was a floor plant. Finally after several days, I was able to use it. Then today I see I was double charged for a purchase I was making when the app glitched again. I did see I was double charged but did not receive double the purchase, so I did request a refund. Sometimes it loses connection so often that I have to keep refreshing the app even though my WiFi is working perfectly on all other apps and functions. That becomes frustrating, especially when you’re voting and you only need 1 more vote to finish a voting series and it loses connection , making you start all over again and losing the 3 or 4 votes you had already cast. The only other thing that i don’t like is when a design challenge requires items that are so expensive, I just don’t enter them. I guess that’s how they hook you to spend more money, but that just turns me off from spending more. I try to use my money as efficiently as possible. For now, I enjoy the game enough to make it worth it, but eventually, I might just quit. But it is a lot of fun!!!
After playing this “game” for a couple weeks, to the point of obsession, I love it! But I wish people would pay attention. It doesn’t seem like people actually READ what they’re designing. There are some pretty specific design requirements in the narrative paragraph that people either don’t read, or ignore. And they don’t obviously remember them when they vote. It’s pretty frustrating to spend your time (and money) looking for outdoor furniture when you’re doing an outdoor design, only to receive a mediocre score, and see most of the “top designs” with living room furniture in an outdoor space. Pretty sure your fake client wouldn’t give you five stars the first time it rained, and drenched your beautiful $4000 sofa or rug. Or looking for the right style or color choices based on the written “assignment” and then seeing some really awesome rooms... only they didn’t meet ANY of the criteria, in to top designs. The voting piece of this could use some serious work. Obviously the people at the higher levels, and people willing to spend more money have some really beautiful designs... but attention to detail should count for something. If the design called for a rustic room, or a certain color palette, that should be indicated somewhere on the voting screen. Or make the actual requirements available to voters, as in, make them read it before they vote. Some people don’t really care, they just vote for keys, but some genuine feedback would be nice.
I’m often disappointed by the rating portion of the game. Having had years of study in design (mostly interior) I am very surprised that some of my best designs (in the game), which I used “in app purchases” to create the best most correct space (according to the description challenge provided), with what is available to us in the game, are always rated EXTRA low. I wouldn’t complain (after all it is a game and does not reflect my actual talent or skill level in the industry) but what really bothers me is that when you see the “top designs” many of them are esthetically unpleasing and considers no color flow, organization, rarely any attention on focal points or motif .... not only by my own standards and opinions but when I show them to my friends or peers they agrees. I wonder sometimes how the game is actually set up. I understand the game is not full of designers and people who know what they are looking at nor is it designed specially for designers to play, I just find it extremely annoying. I wish they could come up with a more accurate rating system. Over all it’s a relaxing and a some what addicting game that I will continue to play.... but will not purchase “diamonds” anymore as it seems to not matter if I spend money on improving my designs. A shame, because it’s so fun putting the rooms together and I would spend a lot of money playing if it seemed to make a difference for my “over all rating”. Oh well.
I thought the concept was good for the design pass but i felt like we shouldn’t have to pay 4.99 to open the better side of the prizes. It would make us more challenging then we already get with this game. If i thought i could win 3,000 diamonds and maybe a chair (from the side of the design pass that doesn’t cost 4.99) then that would make me want to go and fulfill all the challenge requirements for winning more prizes. And what happened to being able to download games and play to a certain level to be able to win Diamonds?? I did that all the time , and now it’s just about ordering stuff online that they pick for you to buy (and you have to spend a certain amount) to win any diamonds. whaaa??? Don’t get me wrong i still play but i hardly play anymore. I’ve played since 2017 but sometimes i just think it’s too expensive so i go play freecell solitaire instead. The odd number of 5 when buying items to me doesn’t make any sense especially when it comes to the chairs. 🤷♀️ And the color, style when your designing needs updated. I just feel like i got to spend all my money and diamonds if i actually want to play a few challenges. When i play i would like to feel like earned enough money by my designs to buy hi end things and make a room like i want it to look. Still like it i just wish it would update and take in all of our feedback for better playing.
