■Update Notes
- Minor text fixes.
- Other minor miscellaneous fixes.
Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp is a fun, fan-service heavy spin-off that trades the series' signature murder mysteries for a board game RPG experience. It’s essentially a 'best-of' celebration, bringing together characters from every Danganronpa title for a lighthearted (mostly) summer vacation. The core loop of building a character's stats on the board and then taking them into a turn-based battle tower is surprisingly addictive.
While it lacks the narrative depth of the main series, the joy here is seeing characters from different games interact in ways that were previously impossible. The pixel art for the 'Hype' cards is fantastic, and the strategy involved in crafting the perfect team for the late-game dungeons is deeper than it initially appears. It’s a great way for fans to spend more time with their favorite characters without the trauma of the killing games. Just know that the 'Gacha' mechanics for unlocking new characters can be quite a grind.
All-star cast from 4 Danganronpa games
Deep board game character development
Challenging turn-based RPG combat
Over 1,000 unique character events
Focus on the 'Growth' squares early in the 50-day cycle. Your stats at the end of the board determine your strength in the Battle Tower; spending too much time on 'Event' squares early on will leave your character too weak for the final bosses.
Ensure your party has a balance of physical attackers and mages. Many enemies in the Tower of Despair are immune to physical damage, making characters like Chiaki or Himiko essential for high-level progression.
Yes, because it features characters from the entire series, it is recommended to finish the main trilogy first to avoid spoilers.
By NO means do I mean to compare this to the mainline Danganranpa games in terms of content or gameplay, (THATS WHAT GAMES THAT ARE NOT ON YOUR PHONE ARE FOR) but as a huge fan of the series this is a wholesome breathe of fresh air in an otherwise pretty dark cinematic universe. I play this while doing my laundry, while working on homework, eating dinner sometimes after a long day, while having beers with the guys, etc and I even bought it on my Nintendo switch so I could play it on my tv. If you are a danganranpa fan AND if you like turn based JRPGs l recommend this. Also the micro transactions are honestly truly optional but I found it really nice that if there was that one character you really wanted, it was only a dollar to buy them as a permanent unlock, this includes even the best ranked characters, I think they are all just a dollar? Idk I’ve only bought one so far because she’s a favorite and also because I’ve unlocked a pretty decent percentage of them without any kind of paywall. As long as you finish the 40 turn board a few times and do some monster battles, AND do the Usami challenges you’re able to get the hang of it and be free to play. Also having all of the characters from the 4 games in one game is just awesome. Quite Simply, this game is borked.
I love this game you get to see characters talk to each other that have never spoken to each other before and you get to see how they interact plus it’s fun!? I love this alternate Danganronpa universe and how nice it is, with everyone being friends and stuff!!!!!!! The gameplay can be difficult and I’m all for it! The graphics are really nice and you can go look back at times you have talked to people! I honestly can’t think of any complaints for this game!
This title may be pretty controversial bc of the gatcha -style unlocks and the fact that this isn’t entirely novelized like in the previous games and also no killing games or class trials here either. so you’re taking a character of your choice (you only have makoto, Hajime, Komaru, shuichi and Kaede as starters) so you play the highly interactive board game to level up your character as much as you can possible and once you have up to 4 characters to form a party with, you can then play the rpg battles to climb the tower of despair. There is some light fan service as you can unlock character cards that feature them in bikinis since it is beach themed. And unless you pay some change to get some characters directly like ultra rarity cards? It’s going to be a LONG grind! And besides the long introduction, that’s pretty much all there is to it to be honest here. But I’d rather play this over call of duty mobile anyday. I’d recommend this, if and ONLY if you’re a hardcore Danganronpa fan.
Didn’t expect much at first, I just wanted a fanservice crossover of all my favorite Danganronpa characters. And this game IS that, for sure, but I didn’t expect the gameplay loop to be so addicting! I’m up at 4am writing this because I just can’t stop playing this. There’s seriously some strategy and trial and error which makes it very fun and rewarding to be creative. If you’ve got 18 bucks, like Danganronpa, and want a cute crossover game, check this out!
It is amazing, there are so many things to get in the Gacha. I also love how Tenko thinks Chihiro is a tomboy because “she” left with Mondo during an event. It is just amazing tho! If I could, I would rate it a 10/10!
I love danganronpa, i’ve watched the anime, played all the games, (Yes, another episode as well) and have been following the series for years now. this is a joke and spike knows it. aside from the performance issues such as random crashing and a choppy frame rate, this game is all grind and no fun. unless you enjoyed the talent development program from v3, you will find yourself struggling to play this game for more then 20 minutes at a time.
I LOVE danganronpa and I was honestly expecting to be disappointed because normally spin offs are bad but I absolutely love this game sm its so much fun
I got a gold monocoin on floor 110 and it suddenly disappeared… I could’ve gotten a U character or a WR card…GIMME MY GOLD MONOCOIN BACK 😭
