- Hypertime Tracker: The Flash - Wally West
The Flash - Wally West steps into the spotlight in the latest Hypertime Tracker!
The odds of obtaining non-limited Mythic Champions Arsenal, Cyborg, and Raven are significantly higher!
DC Dark Legion is a refreshing take on the strategy RPG genre, specifically because it leans into the darker, 'Elseworlds' vibe of the DC Universe. Building your own Batcave as a base of operations feels incredibly cool, and the tactical depth of the squad-based combat caught me off guard. It’s not just about who has the highest power level; positioning and elemental synergies between heroes and villains are crucial for clearing the harder campaign nodes.
The story is genuinely engaging for a mobile title, involving a global threat that forces unexpected alliances. Seeing characters like Batman and The Joker working together against the Dark Multiverse provides some great narrative moments. While there is a gacha element to summoning your favorite characters, the game is generous with rewards in the early stages, making it accessible for F2P players who just want to experience the DC lore.
Official DC characters and lore
Deep tactical squad-based combat
Customizable secret base building
Stunning cinematic ultimate abilities
Never ignore the 'Support' class. A hero like Zatanna or Alfred can provide essential heals and buffs that allow your heavy hitters like Black Adam to survive long enough to unleash their ultimates.
Upgrade your 'Intel Center' first. This unlocks higher-tier daily missions which provide the rare materials needed to 'Limit Break' your characters beyond level 50.
It is an original story set within its own continuity, heavily inspired by the Dark Nights: Metal series.
I played this game for about two and a half hours straight after launch, the game is pretty good. You complete missions, upgrade your base, unlock new heroes/villains to play with, build a team made of different types, there is a gear system to improve individual units. My biggest initial complaint is the match making, I feel like i’m already being paired up with people that are destroying me when I play any pvp. Hopefully that will be adjusted so i’m not knocking a star for that. The game of course has micro transactions, however, from what I am seeing so far, you can earn the majority of things just playing the game. I’m sure there’s a big pay to win boost but you can still have an enjoyable experience without paying. I feel like the base upgrading aspect is going to be something that draws me in because I like seeing it get nicer😭. If you are a DC fan, I believe this game will make a great addition to your mobile games. Update: i’m seeing people say there are “features hidden behind paywalls” that is not at all the case, the game gives a plethora of rewards and you could honestly probably play way longer than I have without spending a penny. I am making sure to not spend money just to give a honest review even though there are a couple of cheap packs that would give me a nice boost. I got my first mythical character free to play the second day the game released. It is a fun free to play and i’m sure pay to win experience overall.
I normally don’t play don’t play strategy games. It’s not that I don’t like them. But rather the whole alliance concept a massive time commitment for me and I often find myself getting grieved by high level players. But this game is different. I constantly find myself coming back to this game, I can join alliances run by the system allowing me to remain casual. As a lifelong DC fan, this game has been great! The character models are pretty solid for mobile games, it has a pretty starting character roster with plenty of legacy heroes with a few underrated heroes like The Atom and Raven. It also gives a ton of options for both ftp and pay to win players. My only concerns regarding this app is that there are a few bugs for instance the UI to the cave vanished at one point. It would also be nice if establishing presets was easier rather than it being limited to prebuilt teams. TLDR: Great strategy game for casual players, great characters with different abilities, I’m very happy to see this game topping charts not even a week after launch.
This is probably the best DC Universe based IOS game released so far. It has some great mechanics and a wonderful player base. At least in my server. My primary concern is that I’ve been playing since the offical launch and I’m starting to grow bored. Basically, it’s the same thing every day. You’re just doing the same things with slightly more power and maybe a new character if you’re lucky. There is very little strategic thinking to keep you hooked. There needs to be more that requires actual challenge. Not just hitting the play button and crossing your fingers. The darkest timeline is a fairly fun game mode but I don’t feel that the new difficulties 6 and 7 are balanced. You do great all the way to the end, and then the boss wipes you out like it’s on God mode. We also need more server cross play. Some servers are dying out and losing players. We also need events where different servers actually meet and compete. Inside the server, things have become fairly predictable. Everyone has their alliance and nothing really changes. No new players to recruit. Nothing changes. That’s the core of my argument. Nothing significant changes. I want to keep playing but I need a reason. Give me a reason. Please. Without long term game outlook, you’re going to struggle to keep long term financial stability and keep the game alive.
Some of you may be curious on how a game may be both good and bad. We’ll start with the good, it isn’t a game that is necessarily a play to win game, and though they offer some purchases to get a leg up early on it isn’t overwhelming and neither is it consistent. As long as you play and do the daily tasks, etc, you can open enough cubes to get more characters and upgrade them. Their draw system currently only exists as a special event, so it isn’t like most gacha type games where you constantly have to use crystals to draw. The draw system used for the base of the game is free and you earn boxes as you god. The bad. Well the bad is you can do fights only at x2 speed which is slow but also there isn’t an option of just skipping the battles all together especially when you are at a higher power level than the enemy. The unfortunate part of this is that the enemies are super sponges which makes certain activities slow to get through like the “simulator” which is built like an endless tower essentially. Even the campaign it seems that battles take longer than necessary a skip battle would be nice to move things along smoothly, and for the love of god just a less sponge enemy experience.
Look man, imma tell it to you straight up. The art and design in this game is pretty great and fun. There are tons of cool events to earn rewards from! But i have to be fair, and there are a lot of design and artistic choices that genuinly make me so peived. First off like the title says thid game is very much grind or die game. You CAN'T play causally and get anywhere. To advance in the story you have to get powerfull charcaters, and ti get powerfull charcaters you have to gamble with a currency sooo hard to grind for you have to save for months if you wanna get a desired character. Speaking of cbaracters most are LIMITED! What does limited mean you ask? Oh it means they show up every fice motnsh for a couple weeks then you can't get them again, Yay! The currency used to get limited characters(anvils) are so incredibly hard to come by it's basically pay to win. Going on to my gripes about creative decisions the grouping for character typers are BUSTED. Why would you make zatanna support when there is a magic user type? Hellooo she's literally a magick Ian! There are so many support characters that couod easily be put in other grouod but noooo. And funny enough most of em are woman! Huh!
So, there are definitely some things that are fun about the game. It has good art and animations, the mother box system is snappy, and the base-building is pretty fun. But it loses a few points in my estimation for the following reasons: First, it feels fairly unresponsive. I find myself tapping multiple times to be acknowledged, even for basic tasks. I'm guessing the icon hitboxes are too small. Second, I'm an introvert. I play mobile games to relax and talking to people, especially strangers, is the opposite of relaxing. So I don't really talk to people in these types of games and I'm always looking for a way to turn off global chat permanently. This doesn't have one, but it goes a step further: accepting a friend request doesn't send a system message that "user has accepted your friend request", it sends a message *from my account* saying "We're friends now, let's chat!" This is extremely uncomfortable for me and makes me not want to play, because other new players take that as me, the human, saying I want to have a conversation. So now I've been opted into multiple conversations and can't opt out without looking like a jerk.
It seems cool but you play it and end up being upset you will get stuck the regular events are not that good the Guardian challenge is weird and buggy the darkest timeline has a final boss that comes up occasionally you can never beat no matter what just to keep you from winning every time you will see what I mean when you play plus it takes so much time to play they keep making new servers when the one I have been on since launch never even filled up or most of the people on it died or something if you look at the list of top one hundred leagues from the bottom up you will see most of them are only a couple people until you get half way up the list it is where a lot of the heroes are locked behind pay walls and if you do get them for free you will spend the rest of your life trying to get them max stars and good the game is not nearly as fun as it should be but that’s the way it is on mobile gaming look at the pictures in the App Store even they mainly show build your base and stuff for the base and the base is not even really anything much to do with really playing I would say play it if you want to be disappointed you would likely have more fun on playing a console game
I have been playing this game since official launch, and I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit during that time. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone. It is heavily monetized, which is expected for “gatcha” games but they’ve become almost cartoonishly evil in their recent updates/events. Each update brings a fresh batch of “why did they do this? Who wanted this?” And then the official Discord turns on slow mode until people get tired of venting their frustrations. Here’s the thing - we’ve been on slow mode for a while now and there’s no indication of it being removed. The community backlash to the most recent update, which added two variants of existing characters that are 1) Extremely strong and 2) only accessible to those willing to spend hundreds of actual dollars (USD) has been non-stop and the developers would rather silence the community than implement popular changes. Seriously, don’t waste your money and don’t trust the app rating. They are manipulating the score by removing negative reviews that have the “appearance” of review bombing, when in reality they just upset the entire community at once.
